I thought a lot before I took the decision But believe me , it will be in good hands and take photos. Mine was less and less used as the D6 is taking the lead when I need sport photography
Hi Didier nice to see your video after longtime. Its sad you left nikon D3s one of the great flagship camera. I've just bought D3s for £144 british pounds that has only 7k shutter count. Also keeping D3 and D700 as my collection. Congratulations for D6😊👍
@@mobilography6786 hi dude ! Thanks Yeah I knew that you would be numerous to say it’s sad. Don’t worry there are things so much more important in the life. I know it’s a flagship and a myth of Nikon but one can not keep everything and if it deserves to someone else that will use it more than I rent to do I’m fine with this. And believe me once you play with a D6, anything else in the Nikon lineup is not as fantastic as the D6 is. It’s just another level of perfection yet already achieved with the D3S, which I sold for nearly 900€… 😉 Cheers from France
@@DidierMOULINPhotography Bonjour!! Thank you so much for your long reply I really appreciate. Yes I can understand your point we can let things go to other safe hand to be continued usage. Wow! 900 euro was a great price for the D3s😅👍 I've to reach to the nikon series ladder up by adding D4 as my next camera body and then jump to the D6. I've Lumix G80 as mirrorless but I never been fan of these plastic toys.😅 your videos are great and highly valued along your style of explaining in details. please keep it up! explore some new work with your new top gun D6😅👍 best of luck! and take care (uk)

There is something special in having a optical viewfinder, I would not sell the d3s (I have a d3 and a d3x) - the viewfinder is the most important contact between the human and the camera...
Thanks for your time to support my channel by leaving a message Yes the OVF is something difficult to replace. Nevertheless the evolution in EVF is impressive and Leica or Lumix offers really nice results but I agree it’s still not comparable… Regarding the D3S… I have a coming news… 😉
The sensors in the D3s and the D700 are the reason I wo';t let go of them. I do have a D850 but I usually use the D3s more. I have no need of the Z system. Great photos, Didier! Love your videos.
Thank you so much for your appreciation Guess what ?!!! Since this video I got another D3S !!! Now I’m set for this sensor generation ! D700, D3S , D3X!!!! Enjoy your joy using yours !
Hi Didier. Another great video, great photography. I am sure you thought it over very well. So, as always, it’s just a piece of gear, the photographer himself is the important part. But, it is a great piece of gear, I am sure someday you will miss it. All the best!
Thanks a lot for your kind words Yeah it’s a piece of gear but not as any piece of gear. It was the D3S I dreamed of many years, like the new owner did… Will I miss it? With the D6 I can say honestly that it’s the camera that finally really replaced the D3S and is worth the upgrade. But yeah, the D3S still delivers great pictures and that was the purpose of this video.
Fabulous photo's, you really have extracted the best out of the D3s and really demonstrated the use of the various lenses too. I sold my D3s a while back, and still miss the excellent usability of the thing. My D4 has currently filled the role of the D3S and that too, is an incredible machine. Have you tried the D4? Keep up the excellent work 👍
Thanks for your kind appreciation of my photographs I do my best to have something decent to show To answer your question, no I never tried the D4. I made the jump directly to the D6 with an excellent opportunity with my local store which didn’t succeed in selling it the official price due to the arrival of the Z9 at this moment
Hi Didier, after so many helpful videos and useful walk-throughs it is said to see a D3s go. But, as others have mentioned, I can totally understand letting go of a D3s when D6 is in the fleet. So, huge thanks for all the videos. What I found interesting, is that - it appears - you let go of a D3s *after* selling a D4. So, there must have been something in a D3s that made you keep it longer. Curious to hear your thoughts on the whole flagship lineup - I think you are uniquely positioned to speak to all the flagship models: pros/cons, strong sides, etc. Looking forward to your D3x video. There’s not a ton of information online about a D3x. Cheers from Canada!
Hello and thank you so much for your kind message from Canada. I received a lot of messages from people concerned by me selling my D3S It has been a hard decision and I realize how much my little community is linked to the D3S. I hope it’s not too disappointing and that I will keep you onboard ! I never had a D4 nor any other flagship camera until the D6 (except the D3X which I bought 3 times , 2 times after regretting selling it!😄) and I’m close to regret selling the D3S 😉🤣 I didn’t see or feel the need for but the D6 has something really interesting for photographing people : eye detection and tracking!!! The only one in the DSLR World. And the ISO are just amazing … Cheers and looking to your next comments !
Shocking news. I shall post this sad goodbye video on my D3X Users Facebook group. I bought a used Z6 recently and I agree the automatic eye-AF isn't great. I just switch if off and used single point AF and back button - just like I do on my D3S & D3X. I don't like the image output of the Z6 as much as I like the D3 series output.
Hello my friend from far away!!! I keep my D3X… and the D6 … and the Df and still a D700 😊 Honestly D3S and D6 are so close and are made for same applications that is wasn’t reasonable to keep both. And now some one will use it far more than me. Well, is it reasonable to have Df D700 D6 and D3X…. And L mount 😅 For sure not but passion is there I see what you mean regarding the Z6. I seems that Z9 Z8 and Zf have improved the AF behavior and interface for a better user experience and closer to what we are used to coming from Flagship Nikon DSLR Coming soon, a video of pictures from my D3X See you😊
Wow! I did not know you had a D6 also. I'll be interested to see your video review of that. I was searching and it seems all D6 RUclips videos are about 3 years old and there are no recent D6 owner experience videos. Best Wishes, Tim 😊@@DidierMOULINPhotography
