I felt nothing for either Ichigo and hime nor rukia but I always liked Tatsuki for him lol romance on a whole didn't click with me for Bleach

I still think it would have made more sense for Nero to have pulled the trigger and not miss as he did all those years ago, showcasing his growth as a person and giving Angelo rest. BUT, him letting Angelo live works too. It plays into the theme of living and not needing a specific reason to live. Either way, 91 Days was a freaking masterpiece. <3

Ichigo was cocky when Byakuya and Renji almost killed him, but when Rukia called him a worthless human, he immediately became sad and confused. It was Rukia who cured Ichigo's depression caused by Masaki's death. Ichigo only knew Rukia for like 2 months, yet he immediately wanted to save her from execution even without his powers. Ichigo was willing to leave Orihime behind in HM when he was told that Rukia was in danger of dying. Even when Ichigo had a perfect opportunity to hook up with Orihime during the timeskip, he was too busy thinking about Rukia and how much he missed her. And what allowed him to awake his Fullbringer powers? His memories about Rukia. Yhwach said that he would attack Ichigo one last time during his happiest moment. He did not attack when Ichigo married Orihime or when Kazui was born. So when did he attack one last time? When Ichigo and Rukia saw each other again after 10 years.

The ending of this anime really exposes people who are out of touch with reality lol Nero CLEARLY killed Avilio. The footprints literally disappear and he is washed away. Why would he swim around after suffering for so long and making others suffer unless he was committing sewerslide. Nero repaid him by finally putting him out of his misery. As for Nero, the Gallasias were obviously following him and hunted him down. It’s not rocket science

There is a scene where angelo wakes up and the glasssias family has him and he's bandaged up i believe after nero shot him and left the dude who was following them went where nero shot angelo seen he was alive but dying and took him back to the galassias because angelo is the one who killed the Don of the glassias family angelo even asked the new Don why did he save him and the new Don told him he was impressed by how he did it and that he basically sped his process up of becoming the next Don he told angelo that basically nero tried to make a run for it on his own we then see nero shooting and taking out a car but more was in pursuit foreshadowing that nero went out like a G then basically sent angelo on mission to kill someone important on "the island" i know im not the only one who remembers that scene angelo isnt dead

The younger me from over a decade ago would have loved to have been able to summarize this reasoning when discussing IchiRuki on BleachExile forums. I remember a guy telling me that more men saw IchiHime as the endgame because for men, they see the attractive girl who has obvious feelings for him and the same age etc... and see that it's the obvious answer. Now I see this is a very male gaze response and I shouldn't have been that surprised that a Shonen manga went this way too. Doesn't invalidate what us IchiRuki shippers saw at all, just means the male gaze won out (with a male author and a young male demographic).

tbh miss im just starting the manga and well the Ichiruki’s chemistry might be fake. Studio Pierrot has a tendency to make alterations to the canon. Like added non canon scenes and removal of others.

27:40 Kubo most definitely sees it through the male gaze just read any interview about him and how he views female characters. Personally I think he just wanted to show ichigo fundamentally cares about his friends with everyone, he's willing to take on a beating for chad, take on death for rukia/orihime and in the tybw arc take on his biggest challenge yet to save uryu and the soul society as a whole. As a consequence of this, by giving him and rukia the most screen time a lot of people interpreted his desire to protect to him having love, which isn't wrong it's just Kubo doesn't view it as love. He explicitly shows us his interpretation of love through orihime whereas rukia shows no outward explicit love to ichigo like her. The problem just stems down to ichigo not making his feelings obvious, if he showed love to orihime or rukia, it would've resolved all this shipping drama in an instant but he seems to only care as a friend, making his feelings malleable to what the viewer believes love is.

I went into this movie completely blind and then ended up crying all the way through it

To be fair there was someone that I should of gotten with but never then. We was closer then anyone lived next door to each other and was more then attracted to each other. I was always their for her and she seen me at my worse but it just never happened. I had to leave and became something different and now she has kids and a decent man. Even he tells me he can tell she still has feelings but knows I'd never mess with a happy family. Sometimes things happen that can't be helped

Rukia and Ichigo are my favorite anime romance. as a male, i feel i have the female gaze and the male gaze. a female can also have the male gaze, and female gaze. emotional attraction, or physical attraction are not gender-based, and saying they are is just stereotyping males and females. theres no need to reduce the beauty and love that ichigo and rukia have for each other, by minimizing their romance to a gender stereotype!!!! their romance is so much deeper than that. i clicked on this video feeling really excited, only to be leaving feeling unhappy, and down, because of these ultra-shallow definitions of rukia and ichigos romantic connection. its like the creator of this video, completely sees the beauty of ichigo and rukia, but twisted it into a gender-stereotype, and idk why no one else seems to be bothered by this, personally it soured an otherwise sweet and cozy video.

This female gaze does not ship ichiruki. Ichihime ftw. I also ship rukihime for the lolz.

I love Atsushi’s character, and seeing how the way he thinks and acts correlated to how badly he was treated in the past, because he feels like he doesn’t deserve to live if he doesn’t save people. He’s always haunted by the headmaster’s voice and feels he can’t escape his past. But I think that the anime didn’t show it very well, because in the first season, the number of times they flashed back to the same scene of the headmaster saying the exact same thing - multiple times in some episodes - is pretty frustrating. That downplays a lot of Atsushi’s suffering, especially when the viewer starts to get annoyed when there’s a lack of creativity in the repetition. Then, putting that next to the way Dazai’s past is presented, it struggles to compare, so it’s just a shame how much Atsushi gets pushed to the side in that matter.

the thing abt Chuuya is that he CAN'T be in too much stuff. if he's around a lot, then you start developing plot holes. "why didn't Chuuya just stop the Moby Dick?" for example. If he's in the story too much, then it would realistically just become "The Chuuya and Dazai Show (ft some other guys)"

I think Kubo put orihime and Ichigo together just to spite people forcing him and threatening him to write what THEY wanted and not what he wanted, because Kubo once said “I don’t write that well when people pressure me to write” something along those lines.

No but the worst is that the ending has the bad guy go "I'm gonna come back when you're at your happiest", then Ichigo proceeded to get married and have a kid, and the bad guy just lay there like, I got nothing. But the moment he sees Rukia again after a decade, the bad guy immediately pops back up like "my time has finally come". Like, what even is this. If you tell me Ichihime is the end couple, then I can only assume there's some hardcore emotional infidelity going on ichigos head?????

I don't ship Ichigo with Rukiya. But this was a really good and interesting video essay to watch about the topic Also, I believe that love goes beyond romance. You love your friends too, it doesn't have to be inherently sexual or passionate in that sense. Ichigo and Rukiya are soulmates the same way as, say, Naruto and Sasuke are. They're really good friends and their friendship is more precious and deep/meaningful than any romantic or sexual relationship between them could be. I respect Kubo insanely for not going the romance route between Ichigo and Rukiya, despite how popular of an option it might have been. It only goes to further the pure nature of Ichigo and Rukiya's friendship / friendly (platonic) love, in my opinion.

I actually feel pretty bad for both Ichihime and Renruki, as they only got the crumbs of what made Ichiruki so popular. Not to mention that every canon Ichihime moment is one-sided and Renruki will forever be plagued by Renji’s introduction. Neither are bad ships, but DAMN, they got overshadowed HARD.

the "talk" they had on episode 8 while running downstairs? the moment when they said their goodbyes because Ichigo was losing his power? the moment Ichigo was crying in the rain in the fullbringer saga because he lost his power AGAIN and in the exact second Rukia appears the rain INSTANTLY stops? nah that ship HAD to happen, i still belive this was just a mandela effect and i got sent to a different reality bruh bc there's no way.

With that not finished sentence I had a theory that Reki realised at that moment both how selfish he was for begin so jealous of Langa and how much afraid he was that Langa will ending up like his old best friend from childhood. I think he was trying to say "Do you know how much I would miss you if you would leave me too" But there was so much going on I get that thay needed time. But its kinda bugs me, why Rekis friend end this friendship with Reki ater he got injured and quit skateing. Was he afraid that sk8board is the only thing that keeps them together or was it sometimg more. I mean Reki has weird flashbacks and had a nightmare where we saw Langa cracking his neck on the ground so this might symbolise what happend. And judging by that neckbraise, that guy probably ended up paralised. And the only reason why Reki Is felling so bad about not begin great skater, its because, he accually is great, but hes afraid of getting hurt. So much so that be bacomes defensive. Hes not a pro master but hes not bad either, but there are stuff that seems to block his potentiall. If season 2 ever comes out we have to see more of Reki trying to deal with himself. And maybe see what really happend to his childhood friend after all this time.

Ichigo was never a "black sun" he was always a black moon you would know if you read bleach and not wattpad fanfics and Rukia was drawn as a star numerous times. So basically female gaze = mad when my nearly plot irrelevant female deuteragonist samurai girlboss self insert doesn't get with my husbando. Ichigo marrying someone that he loves and won't kick and punch him every other day like his dad is great. Thank you Kubo for not putting your male mc in a relationship that contains domestic violence for the laughs and cheap display of girl power.

Excellently done, you got a sub in me! However, I disagree with your view that Kubo interpreted the series through the male gaze, because of the emergent implications on human social interaction. It means that as humans we have no locus for consensus and we potentially misunderstand most interactions. I vehemently refuse to believe that something that was so masterfully crafted was done by accident. It's the equivalent of falling on paint and leaving a perfect replica of the Mona Lisa in your wake, or worse, painting the Mona Lisa and saying you did it by accident or that you were attempting to paint a house. Kubo sabbotaged Bleach or he's a lousy writer.

Ichigo has always been a role model for me when it comes to relationships I always admired when I was younger how hard ichigo fought to save someone that he for all sakes didn’t know even loved him. He just did it to see her smile there was no “I love you” at the end no passionate kiss it was just simply to see her happy again. It makes me laugh how the last girl I was talking to I did the same exact thing for watching your video made me realize some part of me probably just wanted to feel how ichigo felt in that moment. And let me tell you seeing that smile after knowing they were so sad is truly amazing. In the end I never dated my “Rukia” she went for someone else. But still seeing that smile made all the work worth it. Even as a guy I’ve always appreciated the female gaze so much more than the male gaze.

I just finished Storm Bringer today…LORD HAVE MERCY WHY MUST MY FAVORITE CHARACTER SUFFER AND GO THROUGH SO MUCH TRAUMA!? 😭 I already knew I was in for trauma reading this light novel, but I was not prepared for ALL THAT! 😩 The fact the detective wanted to show Chuuya the light, but died before he could?! THE FACT CHUUYA WANTED TO SEE THE LIGHT! Adam being Chuuya’s father figure, Dazai starting all this just to prove Chuuya’s human? What Verlaine did to Chuuya was abusive and cruel and there’s no excuse for it, but in the end he did what he did, because he genuinely cared about Chuuya. All Verlaine knew from Pan was abuse and being used as a spy for the government. So he projected his feelings onto Chuuya, and believed Chuuya was only being used by those around him as well. Verlaine never knew the difference between control and genuine love. Even Chuuya can understand this which is why he still somewhat cares for Verlaine despite everything he did. That Chuuya knows he likely could’ve gone down the same path Verlaine went. Chuuya seeing his ACTUAL PARENTS and leaving them saying the mafia is his family now? PLS CHUUYA DESERVES TO SEE HIS REAL PARENTS! I want to believe Chuuya will end up okay and happy in the end, but even if he does, it’s gonna be a long and painful road to get there. 10/10 would let traumatize me again! 🥹😭👍❤️
