Instead of bugging my wife (who’s already jugglin...

I believe the cowl on your truck is from a 1980. The vent holes changed to louver type slots in later years
Is there a split exhaust manlfol like dutra duals fo r slant six?
Did you have to sand down the lettering?

From personal experience, yes even in stock form, it is a powerhouse and torque monster, but the downfall of them is they are very thirsty. Not a very good choice for a daily driver. At the best you get between 7 and 8 miles to the gallon, and that's driving it easy. I had one in a 73 LTD and me and the gas station attendants we're on first name basis.
I have one of the last in an F350, 1997 crew cab. I worked on this truck a lot and put a wide band O2 sensor to monitor fuel/air. If you mess with the emissions or the computer is going out they will either run crazy rich or lean. If it goes lean, they get really hot. After I replaced computer and got the EGR sorted out, it run would run 14.7/14.8 except under load and it would richen up, then lean back out. There is just so much volume of air passing through it at all times that if the afr gets off, it makes a big difference. Speed density system works. I got 16/17 on interstate, 12 pulling.
Even Installed in a car is easy to tell difference
helpful video ed, thanks for that and greetings from Germany
Sir, Can you please confirm that the 78 or 79 bronco came with the 460? I believe these years they were limited to the 400M.
You're right, the 1978 and 1979 Ford Bronco did not come with a 460 engine from the factory. During those model years, the Bronco was only offered with the 351M (5.8L) V8 and the 400 (6.6L) V8.
Awful AI images.
Awesome video
Great video man appreciate it. I was wondering if you would ever be interested in doing a series on rebuilding the NP 435? I have one here if you ever want to teach someone 😅
Thank you
Awesome practically doing the exact same thing for my 2010 Eddie bower. I got the idea a while back from the spare after needing to use it. I always liked how that steel wheel looked, so I ordered a set of steelies new, found a nice set of all chrome center caps off a 2005 then I will put some bigger tires on it. Where did you get the proper trim rings if I chose to do that, but I would want a chrome cow pusher
One engine you missed was the 6.9 idi diesel in 1987 only. This does make it backwards compatible to the early 6.9 years of 83-86
I’m rolling on the floor 👍🏻👍🏻
You gotta love the DPO (Dreaded previous owner)
Looks like Las Cruces, NM
Which part of N.M.? I grew up in Lovington
Good job. Thanks for sharing your experience.
They need to bring it back !
Separate since you are pretty much at the rebuild stage. I pull together if I am not worried about scratching or bumping stuff on a complete vehicle, unless I am directly ready to mount it on the stand. Tap with a mallet or dead blow from different directions, my favorite is PB Blaster.
4wd=separate. 2wd=your choice for comfort, do you have a helper type deal. I've done it both ways. With the cab off as is the case for you, it's pretty easy at this point.
HELP?? I just did a valve job on a 78 F350 460. It is running now and a friend looked at it and said I put the head gaskets in upside down. There are gasket tabs visible under exhaust manifolds. I saw a you tube and sure enough their install of gaskets show tabs on intake side. The question is do I have to take them back off?? It runs fine.
Good job
Separate
I see that you have the same crappy red paint that my 85 F150, 300 six 4x4 has. At least we have the greatest gasoline in line 6 ever produced. I've modified my with a DUI electronic ignition, Offy 4bbl intake and Headman headers. I also replace the exhaust to 2 1/2 inch tail pipes. Vast improvement over stock. Out pulls and gets much better gas mileage than my son's 94 F150 with the 351.
TTB with a few mods is a great setup.....
I’m currently looking for a decent bullnose f150 or f250 with a straight 6 for daily driving and work. What are some of the first mods I should do?
Is there a cross flow head available? Without having to buy 3 heads and cut/weld?
Used to drive a 96 F250 w/ 460… reliable and smooth. Mpg averaged 12… great truck engine, if gas prices hurt your budget don’t drive a truck.
If I could get 12 mpg I would be happy.
Carb needs to be disbanded
so since the supreme court ended chevron deference i am thinking they cannot say much about it anymore, they no longer have the power to dictate
It is illegal to add a Cat to a non Cat car under strict epa and Cali laws, IE still a modification.
If only i could get parts here in the netherlands😢
hate fords. my 91 bbc 4 speed chevy k2500 with c6p option giving it all the 1-ton pickup things like frame hubs brakes ect except the 2nd overload springs. n o emissions equipment like smog pump, and no CATS from factory. C.A.R.B compliant. get a real truck. 2 stage voltage ignition cuz fords cant even start without blowing points unless v is dropped to 9v, horrible cold starts, more pipes than an organ just to make their emissions work ect ect. no thanks.
At least you're running a big block and not the garbage Detroit 6.2. Keep that big block man.
Is the 330 and 361 Lima on the same block as the 370? I've seen them all in Ford F-500 and F-600 trucks. Also are all the internals heavy duty as well? I've got an 89 E-350 camper with a 460. Great video!!
Great video , very inforfmative I've been thinking about another 67 Mustang with about a 350-375 horsepower engine. I had a sportroof back in 1972 but this will be a notchback or convertible..
Awesome good to see ya thanks for the info keep up the good work have a wonderful day
Where did you buy the chrome center cap?
Nice effort Ed, I really like you taking the time to help people understand what a great axles the Dana 44 is for light duty. For your Dana 44 chart please look up Mr.N on Pirate4x4. My chart is ~20 years old and has more applications than yours, add in the newer stuff and you'd have the most inclusive. Thank you for not saying Reverse Rotation, nothing spins in a reverse rotation in this axles. Bonus points for naming the day Dana released the Reverse Spiral cut Dana 44, aka your High Pinion.
got over 50000miles and still going strong.
What year is it ?
you can swap a 2wd car to 4wd.. or vise versa.. the 2wd/4wd zf5 is interchangeable, provided you have the correct bell housing pattern. bell housing patters including sbf(5.0 or 5.8)/bb (460) / diesel. 6.0 diesel and 7.3 diesel are not interchangeable. to swap from 2wd to 4wd youll obviously need the correct driveshaft as the transfer case would change the length.
I daily drive a 1996 f150 4x4 5 speed 300 inline, yes no replacement for displacement. Hinse my bbf 429, 460, an 400. I can't say enough about a 300.
Great video and thanks for the insights! I just got a 1979 Ford LTD II and I think it has the 351 Windsor in it and am going to be working on it. :)
Keep up the work, your channel will grow. Get a camera with better pixels or clarity when you can; otherwise great!
Thanks Ed!👍
Good video. I need to do this on my 1963 Ford Falcon 170 six cylinder. First, I need to get the correct fuel pump. I ordered one, but it has the connections in the wrong place. I think I have found a Carter fuel pump that will work. As to installing the hose, I used silicon lube to help when replacing the rear rubber gas tank fuel line. I wonder if that would help in connecting the metal fuel line? The fuel pump on the car has screws and is re-buildable, but I have not found the correct diaphragm. One good think, I have more room to work with than your truck has.
Was there a diesel F150 bullnose?
