    This is a great list! I am reading Celia’s House by D.E. Stevenson. I have also read Miss Buncle’s book. I am due to re-read Harry Potter and might need to start that soon 🙂

    Can’t wait to read Sixes! I was going to wait until it’s officially Autumn, as you know, Katie 😊. But, you’ve inspired me to read it after I finish the book I’m reading now. 🍂🎃. Yay! Great video!

  • @phenrichsen1

    Great topic, Katie! I’ve got a lot to say on this topic, which are all just my opinions and preferences, and I could go on and on about this…..So, I’ll try to just share a little bit. I LOOOVE BOTH! I’m in my late-ish 50s and have been a reader my whole life. When e-readers first came out and I had bookshelves packed with physical books, I was like, “No way! I will never switch to reading on a device!” Fast forward a few years, and I got my first iPad and I fell in love with reading my fictional novels on AppleBooks! For all the same reasons that you stated, it’s really really nice!! But, I’ll always love physical books, especially in non-fiction, and I still have a couple bookshelves full of them, and I will always buy physical books, as well….the feel, the smell, the beauty, what they do for a room….love love love! So, I love both and always will have both. Recently, I started buying more than non-fiction in hardback because some of my thriller novels are like my friends! And, I am now buying some in first edition, hardcover, autographed from The Mysterious Bookshop who ships to me from their location in Tribecca, NY! I am thrilled to display them on my shelves and around my home by my various reading spots! Yay books❤📚 ❤!

    Hi Katie! Great video! Many of these are among my favorite authors and you chose great books to represent them. I haven’t read The Sixes, yet, and now it’s at the top of my list! Because, I loved how you described it! So, I’m very excited for that one, which I’m saving for official Autumn. I actually have never read Lucy Clarke, though, so I’ve now added The Hike to my list, as well. Loving your videos!

    New subbie here. Your channel caught my eye because I’m a big fan of psychological suspense, mystery, and thrillers. It’s basically all I read. My top 3 books so far in 2024 are: Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh. He’s a great writer. The next is Home is Where the Bodies Are, partly because the setting of the story is basically where I live, not in Allen’s Grove, but very close. A few scenes take place in the city where I live. That’s a new one for me. (It’s unusual because I live in a very small town in Wisconsin). Also, I thought it was a fun and twisty story. Lastly, I very much enjoyed The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins…another page turner!

    • @WhileIReadwithKatieDodrill
      @WhileIReadwithKatieDodrill Месяц назад

      Welcome! Ok, I haven’t read any of your top 3! I’ve been a bit worried that Kill for Me, Kill for You would be too dark for me, but I’ve heard a lot of people say that it’s good. I haven’t heard of Home Is Where the Bodies are, but that’s so cool that it’s set where you live! And I probably will read The Heiress eventually - I just haven’t been in the right mood for it yet. Hope you enjoy my channel! I’ve got lots of thriller content!

    I just finished Ruth Ware's Zero Days (maybe SPOILER) that you recommended (think it was you!) I started it and the murder I knew would happen was blech then I spent a while totally lost as I'm about the least techy person (i'd been dead for sure if I were this woman!) but finally got as relaxed as I could while reading something like this and followed along marveling how she could keep truckin' along HA! I admit to never really understanding why any of it happened or why someone would even mess with that stuff - (obviously I'm either not looking or I'll be perfectly bribeable LOL!) but I didn't enjoy the suspense once I finally convinced myself it was fiction and not really real!

    I recommend Sweet Home Alaska! I read it as an adult and enjoyed it snd actually learned some history! Boxcar children are my forever favorites but they’re very outdated and while I like the new ones they added, they definitely changed! Was a bit of a shock to see dear aunt Jane go from death bed in old series to leading canoe camping trips in the new 😂 snd Henry dropped down in age so he didn’t drive feeble grandpa around. I enjoyed escaping with my favorites which were boxcar children, surprise island and schoolhouse and caboose and houseboat at times. Some of the older scholastic titles I read like crazy like the trouble with terry and baby island

    there's an old harlequin romance set on a river cruise- Bride of the Delta Queen by janet Dailey. I think Vicki Lewis Thompson has a romantic comedy(probably spicy) set ona cruise as well.(looked it up and think it's Nerds Like It Hot. I don't recall it so it wasn't my favorite of her Nerd romances (the nerd who loved me gets that award LOL!) I've enjoyed Hope's series (need to get back to it LOL!) eta (again!) hope's series does have some christian elements - mainly her looking for c hapel and service and some prayers. one of the books she does something I really disagreed with though but it's fiction... but it still bothered me. overall though the 8 or so stories I've read have been entertaining enough!

    Read the ending first?! I would never! My confession is that I've been known to literally hold one eye open with my fingers to finish reading a chapter at 4:00 AM.

      Harry Potter is more of a fall book to me - so many fun Halloween scenes. But actually, anytime is a good time for Harry Potter!
