    If she, by her very public and unrepentant departure from faith in Jesus alone for her salvation, causes one believer to fall away, better for her to have a millstone tied around her neck and to be thrown into the sea. Beautiful voice, more’s the pity, but I won’t listen to her songs, who departs from Jesus, who poured out his life for us, to pagan pantheism, as if it’s something new. Poor soul!

    At least be a consistent strictly reductive materialist, atheist or philosophical naturalist - right? That is at least be a consistent secularist, perspectivist, relativist or absurdist yes? Or whatever ultimately meaningless term you prefer. Because according to the greatest atheist thinkers who ever lived with possibly the highest IQs… Logic is an illusion (Nietzsche) “Truths are illusions which we have forgotten are illusions.” - (Nietzsche, Reference from: On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense). “Should I kill myself?” is the essential philosophical question.” (Albert Camus). Merry chaps but at least they are “logically” consistent with their strictly reductive materialism, atheism or philosophical naturalism - right? Life is an “horror” and “truth” is “illusory”. (Nietzsche) Moreover, according to the prominent atheist Foucault… “Storytellers continue their narratives late into the night to forestall death and to delay the inevitable moment when everyone must fall silent.” (Foucault). Imagine telling all of these little stories to someone as a Christmas bed time story!! And you mock our beliefs!! And a very cheerful group of people I bet they were a blast at Christenings, birthday parties, and especially at golden wedding anniversaries and especially at funerals!! But at least they are intellectually honest and “logically” consistent with their strictly reductive materialism, atheism or philosophical naturalism - yes? The fact is that existentialism, relativism, perspectivism or relativism as presupposed by atheists/epistemological nihilists is basically just its own religion stealing from the belief in the fundamental nature of [MIND/FREEWILL/CONSCIOUSNESS/THE ACTUAL/THE ONE/MONOTHEISM]l - right? I actually respect the nihilism and absurdism of Nietzsche and Camus etc. I respect perspectivism, fatalism and epistemological nihilism. The claim that ultimately there is absolutely NOTHING OF SIGNIFICANCE beyond the immediate. Logic is an illusion - right? Truth is an “ILLUSION”, freewill is an “ILLUSION”. I respect that! Rational decision making itself is “ILLUSORY” as it’s all ultimately meaningless “physically” determined word games and just brain fizz - yes? I respect the intellectual honesty of Nietzsche, Camus and Foucault etc!! It's intellectually HONEST atheism!! And it is “logically” consistent with this strictly reductive, causally closed, atheistic, nihilistic fan fiction!! I mean, everyone has a right to believe what they want and everyone including theists have a right to find it totally ridiculous, totally fatalistic, totally nihilistic and totally and utterly self refuting!!

    There’s two Judgements. The first is the Judgement Seat of Christ. It will take place after the Rapture, and is the judgement of the righteous. It involves the giving of rewards to the Saints. 2 Corinthians 5:10-11 The second Judgement is the Great White Throne Judgement. Which is a judgement of the wicked. This is probably the one which Peter refers too. Revelation 20:11-15.

    I knew nothing of Wes Streeting prior to the 2024 election. The more I learnt the more I thought this was a Labour Party I could get behind. I did not learn anything of his faith and sexuality until after the election when listening to a podcast about religion in the new cabinet. Although I may disagree with his politics, I truly hope he stands as an example of someone as certain of their faith as they are of their sexuality. As Christians we are called to love our God and love our neighbour, there is no space for homophobia or any other discrimination in Christian faith, regardless of denomination. God bless all those who aspire to this standard.

    As a “born again” Christian I am fascinated with the experience of others when they speak about becoming a Christian….Peter’s brother Christopher was clearly anti God and anti Christ and Peter clearly rejected this view….Peter often refers to “returning to the Church” but many people do that but still seem to lack a personal experience of knowing Jesus as a personal Saviour….I wonder if Peter has had such an experience and if so where can I find out more about it….in a book or an interview??? My heart warms to Peter Hitchens……

      @@posto8421 Good day, your usage of the term "dumb shit" explains why some people are atheists. You obviously do not believe in legendary supernatural stuff because there is no evidence for it but will you use the same rule when applying to your religious belief? Or are you scared that if you use the same rule, you realize some of the things you believe in may just be no different from the "dumb shit" you talk about?

    • @tekinfomedi
      @tekinfomedi 20 часов назад

      From Mr Hitchens' contrarian known mindset, I am doubtful he truly believes in supernatural literalism. From how he describes his thoughts, religion to him is largely a form of human philosophy and a cultural way of life. From what I can see, this is the probable thinking of many people, but they just do not say the quiet part out loud. In other words, Mr Hitchens identifies as a religious believer because he does not believe in Marxism-Leninism, an ideology which he sees as totally rejection of religion in social culture. Before 1917, there was not that much of such a separation in the Russian Empire. The status of (Ras)putin was a prominent example. Someone similar in UK back then would have been unthinkable. When considering Marxism-Leninism in the Soviet context, a sizable portion of it was really about the separation of church and state, a way of life which Mr Hitchens might not find that objectionable. Therefore, Mr Hitchens may not be that religious at all. He is religious in the sense he does not significantly reject the role of religion in UK social culture. In contrast, religion in the USSR was somewhat controversial because the USSR never truly handled separation of church and state that smoothly. The Russian Empire and the USSR never really went through centuries of philosophical thinking that led to separation of church and state.

    Wouldn’t it be awesome if Almighty God allowed the first man to sin and fall and consequently die followed by All his offspring, but to come Himself as 1 of us through The Virgin, and die our deaths too! So we can transfer from The First man to The Last Man The 1 and Only to Resurrect Himself as promised! Thereby we all know and experience fallen rebellious existence So we will fully enjoy His Eternal Life! Read The Gospel of 600BC By The Inspired Weeping Prophet Jeremiah 31v31-4. • @IshtarNike
    @IshtarNike 6 дней назад

    I think so. Absolutely. As I've entered my thirties and people started pairing off the disconnection id so strong. People move far away to buy property etc. All their focus is on maximising their own economic interests and that of their nuclear family. There's barely any consideration for anyone else. And it's not like we're making demands that they stay. But it's so interesting how modern life encourages people to just cut ties. And honestly that's almost a certainty if you're at a large physical distance. Proximity is the number one factor affecting relationships, even before compatibility. Can you meet and be in the same space easily and often? If not then the relationship becomes a huge chore as you schedule things in amd account for travel time and fatigue. It's a huge issue but people's first instinct is to blame everything else BUT the fact that they moved 4 hours away and friends have to now book in 6 months in advance! I've been saying that we need to start actively choosing to stay in areas around friends and family. Or if we're moving seriously consider asking people too come with. Moving here there and everywhere for a few extra thousand a year isn't always worth it. It's always a personal choice but I feel like people almost think it's not a choice. Like if you prioritise friends amd family they'll think you're weird or stunted. Amd some may well think that. But that's just neoliberal brain washing. We work to live, not the other way around.

    I so relate to Lakwena's experience of leaving sunny Africa for dull grey Britain. In October 1987 I arrived from South Africa to commence post grad studies at Oxford. After three months of ever lengthening dark nights and shorter dreary days, my wife and I were struggling. Fortunately my supervisor had warned us that SAD - Seasonal Adjustment Disorder - was a reality. Then in December the whole of Oxford was plunged into shock and horror when one of the academics Rev Gareth Bennett committed suicide. I imagine that if Lakwena had been alive and making her uplifting and public art in Oxford around that time as an antidote to depression, perhaps that tragedy may have been prevented. I am also struck by her use of colours that are so typical of African flags. So good to see a fellow African 'colonizing' Britain but with uplifting art that celebrates our shared humanity and hope. Oh, the good news is that since my wife and I had to stay indoors and really get to know one another, our darling first born Samuel, was conceived in Oxford. That unexpected joy put paid to my ambitions to graduate at Oxford. We returned to South Africa and finished the studies here at University of Cape Town. That was a generation ago. Sam turns 36 next month. 🥰

    This man is beyond supercilious and very full of his own rightness or discernment that he so often puts himself somehow beyond "other people".He seems to put himself somehow outside of others and to me there always seems to be somewhat a disconnect between his "intellect"which he seems to have supreme confidence in,his own that is and his emotional life in some way.I don't know,I can't quite out my finger on it but there is some lack of coherence,an unwillingness I feel often to be truely vulnerable or open and hiding behind a rather pompous intellectual personna. I know there are alot of judgements and subjective opinion of him there but theres just something I do not quite "believe",that doesn't ring true or honest and that he sues intellectual arguments and ideas to defend himself against any further scrutiny. Its hard not to think there is something very deep inside of him that he is trying very hard to defend himself against. I can never warm to him even though he calls himself a christian and presumably believes in redemption and taking into account our own "sins"and frailities and finding forgiveness and love etc but I would enever ever entrust myself to his scrutiny as he just seems to be without compassion and seperate in some way from everyone else. The most vulnerable and real I think I have ever seen him was on the programme where celebrities went into prisons and lived with previous prisoners ina kind of mocked up prison scenario and found out what had happened in peoples lives to land them in prison.As I remember he seemed genuinely moved and let down his guard it seemed for a short moment. The thing I have an issue with Peter is he is often invited onto programmes or to comment on things which he himself does not have direct expereince of or work in that area whether its the NHS or education or issues like addcition etc and he gets to speak in abstract notions of what he thinks should be done when he himself is not at the rockface,not say a doctor,nurse,teacher,social worker,prison officer or even politician who has to work in practical solution focused and direct ways to hopefully "make the world better". I do not know really how he has managed to have this place as such a great "public intellectual",he is deeply eurpcentric in his worldview and seems to know very very little about countries and cultures and perspectives which are absolutely at odds with western worldviews,theology etc. He just seems steeped in this colonial type mentality and version of English Christianity,parochial.

    The rapid decline of religious supernatural belief has been going on since the end of WW1. Only religious folks want more religion. For most of us its best kept private and out of the public sphere.
