These questions are a great program for understanding a persons whole life. I hope to hear more interviews of such self-reflective guests!

Stumbled onto this channel from Unherd. What a fruitful channel with many interesting conversations that I wish I have the time to listen to. Hmm believe in God but do have an adversion to organised religious associations, sorry to say that. ^^ This's a very objective, genuine interview! :-) Mr. Freddie Sayers seems to have had a happy childhood with his family. It's an enviable blessing. Points raised on the covid era strategies certainly are food for thought. Thank you for the interview. XO

45:20 the Christian impulse to welcome in the lost sheeps. I love the part of his response where it points out there's a usefulness to his not being a Christian "in his particular position right now" and also the repulsion of the "overconfidence".

The idea of it being 'useful' for someone to not be a Christian is interesting, do you think there is a limit to that though? Is there a point when one also needs to jump in the boat?

I can't see/hear the word Beauty without thinking about Roger Scruton.

The thing is, there are people who occupy positions of power and influence who really don't need to be given a platform to perform how they are nice people who just happen to hold obnoxious and dangerous views about others who don't have such a platform. There are those whose views are genuinely dangerous to various minorities, in particular, and to the direction of our culture and politics in general. These public figures don't need a platform to make them more palatable to a wider public. They need to be constantly opposed and faced down, discredited if possible, ridiculed if necessary. We need to carefully consider who is being platformed in this culture of tolerance and openness. There is real suffering out there and it has a face.

Thank you both for your work. May I suggest as constructive criticism that interjecting with “mmh” and “yeah” is good in normal dialogue but not in podcasting/audio recording, because it becomes really distracting and annoying for the listener
