2010 Ford Edge Oil Change
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
This video is a basic oil change for a 2010 Ford Edge. We changed the oil and the oil filter using Amsoil’s Signature Series. It is rated for 25,000 miles or one year. For more information and a 25 percent discount visit our website at www.omahasynthetics.com
I believe mobile 1, I got the oil change at the dealer, and now I'm gonna start doing it myself, I was changing every 5000 miles, so I will use the oil over 75,000 and change every 15,000 miles,, is that what you recommend? Thank you for replying, I used your you tube and name when I registered with the company, they asked how I found out about the product so I used your info.thanks again great video.
Great video I have the same car I travel all over it has 250,000 miles now with the new oil product, when do we change the oil now? Do we change it at 5000, 10,000 or 25,000? Thank you
Quick question, what oil did you put in your car? Amsoil offers a few options, there is the signature series (25,000 miles), there is Extended Life (20,000 miles), OEM (3-5000 miles), and high mileage for vehicles with greater than 75,000 miles protects for (12,000 miles)
Great video
Good video. Just a few tips. If you wet the new oil filter with the used oil you will be less likely to have your oil filter stick next time you do your oil change. For some reason new oil can make it tougher to take your filter off next time. Also if you turn your big oil jug so you are pouring from the side you won't have the oil splash out as the air tries to get into the container. Good video. So many people think its a huge job to change their own oil, but really its just time and a little mess. Easy worth it to save $50.
Nissan Engineers: "Let's put the filter in a spot that's difficult to access and will result in oil going everywhere." Mission accomplished - thanks guys.
For everyone so miffed about the oil filter. These are forced induction, turbo charged grocery getters. First generation for ecoboost. You can't just put the oil filter next to the gas tank door, with it's own door (sarcasm) but seriously there is only so much room considering the turbo uses the same oil system. It's very complicated and it can't just be in your center counsel. It's not that obscured.
Ok, it's best to let a shop do it, thanks..
This is a godawful oil filter placement. Wtf was Infiniti smoking
Thanks buddy 👍
You’re welcome!
I can pass on a tip. Once you get the filter loosened , use one of those zip lock freezer bags over the filter . The oil wont be running all over and if the filter slips in your hand due to the cramped space it falls into the bag. Less ness
Thanks. That is a great idea.
Do you have any problems with the car I have 2018 Travers and it sounds like something is lose in the engine it rattles no one can find the problem
@@adammaciag187 No. sorry I don’t know any problems like that.
Doing mine tomorrow morning. 👍 Thank you for the great video
Thx always wandered what plug is oil and what is Tran fluid plug now I can confidently change my own oil game changer
Did you use a crush washer for the drain plug?
No, did you try that?
Based on the position of the drain plug would it have made sense to reverse into the drive way? I'm asking because I had someone ask me that. I guess they were thinking it would drain more that way?
@@padroni79 I am going to try that when I change the oil again. I will let you know how it goes.
Mine was stripped still trying to get it off prolly gonna have to weld a wrench to it
Crows foot
Can the oil filter be changed from below the engine?
Yes, you can change it from below the engine. It is just a bit of a reach.
Dealerships don't make money off of selling cars they make their money off of servicing the cars maintenance they charge way more than what it really should be being a mechanic I know this they take your car and keep it for 4 hours when the work was done in 1 hour what hour and a half
I will never understand why they dont place the oil filter in a place where you dont make a mess changing it. #stupid
Tight engine compartment for efficiency but I get it
Most helpful video. Thankyou
👏👏👏👍👍👍
Great video! If you turn the jug sideways it won’t chug like that. 😊
Thanks for the idea. I will try that next time.
Great job on making this video
Your video made this look easy! I think I’m confident enough to try my self
Great video! Thank you very much!
Thanks!
Do I need to jack it up?
It is helpful to have room under the car. But if you can fit under far enough to get to the drain plug. You might not need to jack it up. If you don't and it works, will you let me know?
What size of the wrench ? Please let me know
Thank you very much for sharing. Very helpful and really appreciate the time you took to make this video. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
Well Done!🇺🇲
Thanks!
Boa tarde Muito bom o vídeo obrigado

This is one of the worst placements of oil filter that I’ve seen on many different cars that I owned. It’s literally no way to remove old filter without getting the frame all dirty with oil.
The Nissan rouge is the same 😒
However there will be no rust in those areas down the road.
Update: I just changed mine and got maybe 3-4 drops of oil on me and none one the frame. I can tell you how if you want to know.
@@Ojb_1959sure, how did you do it?
i find that changeing your own oil is a pain and plus you have to find a place that will get rid of it for you.other wise nice car any issues with it?
I can understand how it could be a pain. Especially if you do not have an easy place to recycle the oil. I have an auto shop, where I take my old oil. The car runs great. We have had no major issues.
NICE.@@chrisrichardson1366
All major chain auto parts stores take used oil, as well as WalMart Auto Centers, so it's a lot easier than you think.
Thanks for the video. Is this a 1.2L Escape.
This is the 1.6L engine
Good video, thank you. Would suggest pre-prime oil filter by putting some oil in filter and let it soak up in the filter eliment. Not sure if oil drain plug has crush washer?
Thanks. I have pre-primed the oil filter in the past. It is a good idea. I will look closer at the oil drain plug washer and order a new one to replace it. Thanks for pointing it out.
I have 2014 traverse 99k , no issues fantastic suv
Should of changed the crush washer on the plug.
Thanks for noticing. I will take care of it.
Suddenly rethinking doing this myself 😂 #messierthanidlike I never see the folks at the 5min oil change place under the car 😩
You can do it!
Great video dude.
Thanks, hope it is helpful.
The coolant level looks low. Ecoboost 4 cyl is known to have coolant intrusion problem.
Thanks for the tip about the coolant possibly being a problem. I will take a look at it.
What size is the plug bolt head..millimeters?
Thanks… helpful!
You're welcome!
Good video but personally I would read the owners manual for oil quantity, you read the amount of oil that goes in the A/C system. For ecoboost owners, do not recommend 12k miles or a year between service intervals. 3-5K mile oil changes should be typical for the longevity of the turbo. Otherwise you will be replacing a turbocharger if you do extended oil changes as oil filter and oil manufactures "suggest."
I had the same issue with the dipstick showing for extremely full, but I took out 5 quarts and added 5 quartz?
How did you resolve it? I’m having the same issue
Thank you for the video. Will be changing my oil referencing your video guide.
You are welcome.
Great detailed video. I was making an appointment at the dealership but I need to quit being lazy and do it myself.
It sucks because they made it in such a terrible way. My prius and lexus are literally just pop out pop in.
They do this type of thing so you will take it in to get it serviced just another reason not to buy this type of vehicle they are doing this a lot now and car manufacturing to make things difficult to DIY
@arthurdaniels7260 it's why I don't buy German cars anymore.
The jey is to keep pressure on the plug eith your finger then pop it off quivk and gtfoitthe jey to messless oil filter removal is once you loosen the bitch grab a solo cup or fast food cup and put it seound it... You're welcome
I enjoyed the sharp attention to detail. Thank you.
have you had any issues with the transmission yet?
Sometimes, when I put the car in park I get a message saying it is not in park. What are you experiencing?
@@chrisrichardson1366 a slight jerking while shifting into 4th gear
@@retromeatball4402 I have that it's a shudder going in and out of 4th gear. Typically around 20-25 mph (slow). I've taken it to the dealers several times and they just drain and refill the fluid. It's a piece of shit car, shit dealer and won't be buying GM again.
@@chrisrichardson1366 I get this message too.... any insight?
should be 5w-30 oil
Is that for the Mobil brand? The Infiniti website states if you are using a FULL synthetic, not a blended or super version, use the 0w-20. www.infinitiusa.com/parts-service/en/service-maintenance/oil-change#:~:text=Every%20oil%20change%20is%20performed,help%20maximize%20your%20vehicle's%20performance.
@Aidan Bhuiyan Have you considered using Amsoil? It is 100% synthetic. The cleaning additives are the most on the market, I believe. In addition, the signature series is rated for 25,000 miles. If you follow the link in the description, as a preferred customer, you can get a 25% discount. They have filters blocking to 99% to 20 microns.
@Aidan Bhuiyan You said you change the oil once every 5000 miles or once a month basically. You also mentioned the sludge, so I thought with a longer drain interval and better detergents to clean your engine, I would make the suggestion. I am glad you found something that works for you.
Wrong it’s 0w-20
