Well Chuffed Railways
Великобритания
Добавлен 13 июл 2020
We are Well Chuffed Railways🚂 the channel about railways big and small.
Hi we are Rick and Pauline a married couple who decided to start this quirky little RUclips channel. The channel is all about our days out and about visiting model railway exhibitions, heritage railways, toy fairs and lots of other lovely things. We will also be taking a closer look at my own model railway layout and reviewing the goodies we buy on our adventures. Lots of other features to come including abandoned railway locations and more. Oh and we will taking our Dog Bobby on some trips (our cat Lola will be staying home). We never bother asking for likes our subs as you can make your own mind up if you want to. We don't spend a fortune on model trains as we tend to buy mainly secondhand hence our visiting toy fairs and checking out the used trade stands. Cheers and thanks for watching....Welcome to our world. 🐕😸🦒🚂 😀

Well Chuffed Railways Q & A (and more) 😀
There are not many shops like this left, I can confirm that the staff are brilliant. I would rather buy here than online support your Model Shop.
My local model shop, I’m so happy to see this pop up on my feed and to see all the positive comments!
Hi guys!!! I dont buy trains, but i LOVE visit model shops. I live in another country and my dream is to visit all the model shops i can. Your videos makes my dream come true. I'm a scifi modeler. I LOVE starships, so if you can, please, can you show the scifi corner in every shop you go? Sorry my english!!! Thank you!!!
We try to film everything in the shops so people can truly appreciate everything they have to offer. We are filming another shop in a few weeks. Many thanks for watching.
Thanks very much for this video! It popped up on my 'recommend videos' late last week, so I stuck it on in the background, as you do. When I heard you mention the Sauber, I had to rewind. I'd been looking for this kit for ages and whilst there are a few available online, they're often massively inflated in price. First thing Saturday morning I made the hour and a half drive up to Ashton Models and there it was, still sat on the shelf! Couldn't resist taking a Fiat 500f and also the 996 home with me whilst I was there. Its incredible to think that the 996 kit was discontinued over 20 years ago! Absolute gem of a shop! Cheers 👌
Congrats! You were lucky as most of what we feature in the videos sells pretty quickly! Happy modeling. 😀
Great and here we go!!!! It sure is crowded but that is good :). Lot to see and off to the next room :). Great Layouts I like the one with the Union Jack on the side of it nice!!!! Nice Buildings.... BUT LOL$$$$$ :)!!! I enjoy this one Rick sheers mate!!!!!
Thanks very much Brad.
All the best to you both :)!!!!!!
Lovely to see a great family team featured. It’s a fantastic shop, very wide range of stock and expert advice on hand.
Thanks for watching and it is indeed a lovely set up.
I hate local model shops today as many don't do much in the way of n gauge more on 00 gauge now thay all seem to do more RC cars because model railway shops are dying out. I wouldn't support this model shop because thay stock more RC and airfix kits over model railways in todays world many people don't have the room so thousands have turned to n gauge. But in local model shops its getting harder to fined. like some will not even do hornby TT120 gauge so most today are not really a railway model shop anymore.
Widnes Model Centre stock both N Gauge and TT 120 and the shop is a model shop not just a model railways shop. Both are in the video. They try to cater for all aspects of the modeling community and judging by the comments they are doing a great job. I and many others wish them the best of luck, we certainly don't want to lose them and see more comments from people lamenting the loss of their local model shop.
@@wellchuffedrailways in the video you showed one TT loco it's hardly a great stock then in the n gauge it showed metcafe models and some small building again not much stock available. The hole video was based on model kits and Scalextric as it said the side of the Scalextrics it was very busy so the video told me the shop would of dyed years ago as a model shop for railways
They stock TT and N. Is this shop local to you? If it is then pay them a visit. 😀
@@Softy-w6q. Hi we have a large stock of N Gauge, Farish, Dapol, Scenecraft, Gaugemaster, Kato, Metcalfe, Rapido, PECO etc. l model N Gauge myself. We also have a large selection of TT120 by Hornby and PECO.
Mmm best thing about the Allegro... the paint lol.
That and the quartic steering wheel which seems to be all the rage now!
An interesting video. I have to disagree on the comment about the Hymeks though; I think they looked great in BR blue! It suited them more than the green IMO.
They look good in any colour but BR blue not as much. I have a Hornby one in blue....
I am sure you will be impressed with your Bachmann class 37. Providing of course, you haven’t bought a model that has been abused, as these are super smooth runners with excellent fidelity too. Colin.
Hi Colin, I can confirm it's a lovely runner and all the lights work as well😀
I went on the Saturday great show with a lot of great layout's and trade stands definitely be going again next year
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello Rick and Pauline, very nice class 37 you purchased, great price.
It was about time wasn't it! 😀
That looked a great show, Lockden does it for us, great detail very realistic. Thank you . All the best.
Thanks Gary
Great tour of the show! A lot of cool items to see. It was nice to see what you had bought right away, too!
Cheers Anthony, yes we usually forget. 😀
the layouts were very nice but the one at 13,42 was breathtaking ! this is just like being train watching out under the real sky, The next generation of layouts . One of the best you have filmed. Thanks ! By the way the american n scale freightcars had very good price tags on them. The old atlas are a must by at 2 GBP !
I know sound is expensive but watching locos silent running just isn't the same, That 0 gauge 37 is crying out for sound, Take care my first day out layout gazing will be Donny next week.
It definitely adds something as does lighting. Enjoy Doncaster.
I thought this was a really good show this year. The difference in price between American and British models was partly what drew me to venturing into HO scale for the first time, last year I picked up a loco at a good price and got another from the same stall at the show this year. Millennium is my nearest model shop and always given me great service at a good price. They have a small layout in the shop and always willing to give customers locos a test run so you know you have one that runs OK. I am sure you will enjoy your visit and finding those little gems you can often find there.
We are always surprised at what good value some of the HO can be especially since they always seem to be of a high quality. Thanks for the info on Millennium models and we are planning to visit towards the end of this month (Feb)
@@wellchuffedrailways I watch a channel on here, a 17 mile railroad run by a coal mine and got me thinking about a new layout based on it. I found both locos very well detailed and run real smooth. I got brand new Rapido coal cars for a bit more than half the price we pay for Bachmann coal hoppers and that included shipping. The detail on them amazed me. I am going to Glasgow show with Allan and Kevin Friday and Saturday so they will not be at the shop that weekend.
great video rick andyou got some great bargains but really thought when you seen that, you may have got it was it a really expensive still you did well
Hi Pauline and Rick! Another great video of the show. I really like the Brighton Belle Pullman, especially as it’s a wrenn model. One stall you visited near the end of the video, I think it was the one with the £2 n gauge American wagons had a box with Marklin boxes in it, what was the name of the stall? Also could you let me know if we are going for an extra long video, I nearly ran out of chocolate biscuits 😂😂😂. Hope Bobby and Lola are ok! Looking forward to next week, perhaps a European layout will appear. Harry
Hi Harry, the trader was Anoraks Anonymous. We see them quite a lot and the prices are very good. They do mail order so no problems finding what you want. The kids are doing fine. 🐕🐈⬛
"Which keeps the domestic authorities happy"🤣 that's a new expression for me, very well sad. Available space, that's always a difficult one for a lot of us, but if you see the creativity some people have to build a kingdom for them self, is sometimes amazing. And an observation I made over all these years is, that when a model builder has a limited space, the creativity and the attention to detail is at its best. Something that caught my eye at the O gauge layout 16:15, was the weeds growing in-between the tracks, very realistic, I really like this attention to detail, specially if you do a post war layout, even if your layout is from the time we live in now, and it's something you can applier to all scales. I've seen this often in reality, and the reason why these shunting area's look like this, is the public pressure to use less weed killers, which I support 100%. The only down side is for the train driver after a rain shower, if he has to walk through this greenery, wet trousers guaranteed. Some very interesting bargains, that Wrenn "Brighton Belle" you bought seems to be brand new old stock, a very nice edition to your collection, I recently bought the Hornby version, hope to see more of it in one of your model reviews. Anyway again a really enjoyable video… Cheers, Danny
Millennium Models shop is floor to ceiling of model railways and kits etc used to go years ago
Great layouts For the eruo stuff 45:26 Multi voltage locomotive often used fir TEE service 45:36 typical Lima vehicles with the coupler on the bogie itself. 46:02 Austrian market limited edition car from Marklin 50:53 Not a proper crocodile as it is one chassis. These are mixed overhead / battery powered shunter. The noses on both ends store the batteries, the center contains a mercury rectifier. These are relevant for only a very small area of Germany
It’s good to see some layouts again, my favourite is the ‘O’ Gauge with the building with Fish and Chips on the roof….superb weathering.
Looks like a great shop.. as a collector of Oxford dicast and RC car I’ll have to visit… hopefully the MX5 is still there as that’s one I want..
Very good - but you have too be careful buying 2nd hand or from a Toy fair, if you take it home & some thing is wrong you might not be able to take it back 🤔🚂🚂🚂
I've never had a problem with locos bought at a toy fair. Many locos are marked as poor runners etc, of course not everybody might be as lucky but that can apply to buying any used item. I'd advise getting contact details from any trader you buy from. Some traders have track where you can test the models. Thanks for watching.😀
I react the same today as I did when I was a child, It's exciting to see so many models and accessories, it'd be a day out just looking through the huge selection you have. Thanks for putting this online.
Me too!
Great shop and vid, I am still luck there is a local hobby shop in my area. Dreamboat Marina. Warren, Penna.
It's nice there are still some about. 😀
Super video. Love the show.
Cheers Paul 😀
Not many of these model shops left with hattons gone & formby models closed down. I'm definitely going to visit.
You won't be disappointed!
I missed it😱 On my doorstep too😢
Always next year.
Hi there o wow a good fun to start off!!!! HO .. LOL. And some cars nice!!! Polly fond some stuff too well done!!! WOW look at all of the Locomotives there and all in box they look new. I like Vanguard cars and yes I do have some :). Great video Rick and have a great week mate cheers!!!!!!
Thank you very much Brad, there were quite a lot of cars here but my director told me to leave them alone. 😂😂
Whats with the collar are you the ginger elvis 😄
Well someone has to be 😂😂
This my go to shop for my armour , if Stuart has not got it he will try and get it , just a 35 mins drive from Skelmersdale, so not to far, really good shop lots of interesting models in it , worth a visit if you need paint, glue or a model you have been looking for, i recommend it .:)
Great stuff
Thankyou for the interesting tour of the second/hand models on display. At the end Pauline picked up a Hornby Dublo tinplate fish van which had the open brake gear detail. That was a really late version (1962?) of the under frame. Maybe the NE body was swapped from an early model.
Interesting snippet about the Dublo, I know little about the Dublo wagons apart from the obvious.
Its fair to say these events af Buxton clearly do better than others :p
That's true it's always busy at Buxton
RONUK! RONUK! (like shouting squirrel). Bit far for me for a Toy Fair, I have been to a railway show though. Nice building, very light and airy.
Ha ha!
Another great video some great bargains at that show look forward to next one
Thanks Caroline
Awesome channel great video keep them up make sure you like and subscribe thank you for your support I need feedback on my train videos thank
Did you manage to buy anything?
Just a bit of track.
Great stuff, thanks both.
Thanks Andy
Is it an impression of me or are there less train model traders there, than last year? Anyway, saw some interesting stuff there and a little story since you where looking at that Fleischmann loco 4:37. When you where looking at that last trader's stand at the end of the video on the shelf, there was a little live steam static engine 21:32, and that was made by a German firm called Doll in Nuremberg. Before the second WW, Nuremberg was the world's capital city of toy production, due to the invention of tin plate printing in Nuremberg somewhere in the late 1800's, they produced everything there from toy trains to doll hoses, the best quality toys came from there. There were several very big companies like BING, Ernst Plank, Doll, etc. and these firms were all in hands of Jewish families, some even related with each other. Now we all know what happened in 1932 when the NAZI party came to rule, suddenly these Jewish families where in danger, and forced to sell there companies to Germans. One of these scavengers was very small German toy producers called Fleischmann, and the Doll family was forced to sell everything to them. Thanks to the world wide connections the Doll family had doing business, they managed to find refuge in the USA. And after the war, the Doll family sued Fleischmann for this hostile takeover, and the Doll family won that trail. But the Doll family didn't want to move back to Germany after all what happened, so Fleischmann and the Doll Family came to an agreement, where the Doll family would get 50% of the Fleischmann shares, and stayed in the USA as a silent partner of the Fleischmann company. So in the end some justes was done, but unfortunately the jewish toy producers of Nuremberg never came back… Some sad history we never must forget. Cheers, Danny
Hi Danny, thanks for that very interesting info. That certainly gives a different perspective to the Fleischmann models. Thanks again.
Will you put those car's down, one or to good prices there. Thankyou you both for showing us round.
Hi Gary, thanks for watching, Pauline kept telling me to put them down!
I love all your videos! I went to Thamesmead model railway exhibition yesterday, nice selection of sellers but some are quite expensive. I'm getting the impression that up north there appear to be more bargains to be had👍
I'm not sure as when we went to the Wessex show there were some great bargains, thanks for watching.
Great video that's a good toy fair some good locos and wagons thank you for sharing 👍🏴
Cheers Clive
Great toy fair... lots of cool stuff. Those Indiana Jones action figures are worth a small fortune here. lol The usual nice variety of train models and stock! Counting down the 6 weeks until my next (and only) toy show.
Thanks Anthony. Enjoy the show!
Nice check-in. Did you meet Richard Brown of Trains in the Attic by chance? He was there.
Hi Anthony, no we didn't see him although we met him a couple of times before.
Great vlog thanks for sharing
Thanks Lee
great vlog on train show thanks for share
Thanks Lee
That’s some nice Train material
Wow what a Toy Fair that was, I was weeping at some of the low cost prices there in Buxton compared to the over the top, excessively high prices demand for the same things here in the South, somethings here are over 300% higher, and totally ridiculous, traders down here charge the earth for some models, at prices I wouldnt pay no matter how much I want a particular model. Anyway - some useless info for you - Top Link Coaches, Hornby - I was working at Hornby up until closure and everything went overseas, not much ideal job, buy never expected to get made redundant off the real railway, 1 week before I got remarried. It's was all a gimmick at Hornby, the only thing that was different from a Top Link Coach from a standard coach, was the introduction of flush glazing, they also then began.printing No smoking abels on the glazing and blue first class totems, the overhead warning flashes on coach ends and C1 restriction codes, other than that, nothing changed nor was improved either. Bachmann had been flush glazing their coaches for years. I think I'll have to try to get to Buxton in March - great video - loved it, thank you.
Thanks for the info on the Top Link, I had a feeling it ultimately ended up being pure marketing spin. Prices do vary massively even from trader to trader. It definitely pays to shop around.
