Ray Heard has most likely had more of my money than the tax man over the years. Sometimes his loco prices are a little higher than other dealers, but it's always quality. Not been to that particular show but may have to check it out next year.
Thanks for the great video and taking the time to visit our show, hopefully we can welcome you to another in the future. Cheers Chris - Wessex Association of Model Railway Clubs
Thanks very much it was a nice show. It was good to meet all the modellers and traders, thanks for making the folks from up North feel very welcome. I'm only sorry the video was a bit rushed by our standards so we might have missed some things. We will be sure to go again if we are in the area. Many thanks Rick and Pauline.
Lovely to see great layouts with good owners on display. I would hope to see a layout of Swanage Railway!! I’m a steam fanatic and have volunteered for my local heritage railway.
@@johnhorton5364 I know!! I haven’t seen it live yet, but that’s a treat to come for me. I personally attend three model railway exhibitions, the London Festival of Railway Modelling, Model Railway Saturday at the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport and the Hoddesdon Model and Railway Club’s August Extravaganza.
Its on show at Chestfield Model Railway show, near Chrstfield and Swalecliffe Station early November, always in my locality, may be at Canterbury in January, Swanage Railway have their own RUclips channel, you should have a look. Our layout is in the circuit but no shows this year due to health, our first return will be March in Aylesham, Kent - Horton Common Model Railway, we too have a RUclips channel.
A great show! Beautiful layouts, and the water scene @34.00 was one of the best I have seen. Well done to them. Nice selection of stock on the tables, as well!
Nice ride threw the country side to start off with :). Lots of great Layouts. And time to shop now !!!!! WOW so hard to pick :). Nice Layouts. Stuff is cheep as chips lol as you all say :). Winter one different but I do like it :) and some more great bargains. Great video mate and have a great week you two :)!!!!!!
Hi Bobby and humans!, many thanks for starting with an Austrian layout, we don’t see that many in the uk! On the second layout the largely white train was a ICE, intercity express, used in Austria, Holland and Germany plus other countries. Some great traders and price, Ray Heard goes to most shows in the south and usually has good price and models. I am glad Pauline avoided to blue coaches, wagons and locos! Regards harry
What better place to buy souvenirs while you're on holiday, than a local train show of corse🤣 Quite some goodies for sale, never been to Davon or Cornwall, one of the few places in the UK that still sits on the want to visit list, and it all sits in my favorite GWR country. Taking the GWR night train from London Paddington to the Cornish Rivera, still very high on the list, specially since I pulled a few of those specific GWR class 802/1's, when the where brand new, from Germany to Belgium on there way to the UK. Normally buying modern stuff is not my thing of interest, but a GWR class 802/1 set is, hope to one day combine it with my Belgian TRAXX loco to mimic the train that I pulled at the end of my career, sweet memories… Anyway, thanks to Pauline for finding a top holiday activity, we do have a nice video again. @ Pauline: you should talk more to my wife Myriam, she always comes up with spa's , never train shows while we are on holiday😮💨 Cheers, Danny
That was a great video, you've kept Irene focused tonight layout's for me it was a toss up tween the American and Irish layout's then Boooom the viaduct in the snow scene can't choose tween them, wasn't those prices tip top anyway hope you both had a good holiday. All the best. Being nosey Irene would like to know what the tattoo reads Rick.
Hi Gary, we were a bit pushed for time as the seaside was calling hence some layouts were a bit rushed. The tattoo is the first line of "Youth and age" by Lord Byron. I will let Irene find out the rest! Thanks for watching Rick
Excellent Video again .Rick- Funny you should mention the German Centre cab being similar in looks to the class 17 Clayton. Wrenn/Lima passed one of those off in BR Green for N Gauge in the early 80s. Not great weather down south , I have a friend in Bournemouth who says the weather hasnt been great . Slightly better up north .
Hi Garth, that doesn't suprise me the early Lima UK stuff was very "make do nobody will notice". The weather was mixed on our holiday and has been dismal since we returned home. All the best Rick
That first shop had some cracking prices, I might have filled my boots with Mainline wagons at that price. The other shops were keenly priced too, surprising when 'down south'. The snowy layout is one I have seen before, extremely good, but not managed to see it in person as yet.
When I visited Shelbyville, Indiana some 30 years ago, I was asked by my cousin to wait for a steam special coming in from Hershey full of car parts for their business. It was hauled by a Big Boy!!
The two vehicles Pauline queried on the "Fairford Layout" is called a "Windhoff", this time of year is referred to as "leaf fall season", that train is run daily or as required over the tracks and is referred to as the RHTT - Rail Head Treatment Train. It sprays high pressure water jets onto the Railhead to blast off leaf residue, which causes train wheels to slide on the rail when the driver applies the brakes, this mulch which occurs when train wheels crush fallen leaves, acts like "teflon" as on pans in yiur kitchen, low friction and non stick, the train wheel treads pick this up and it builds up a film, trains with disc brakes just lock up and the wheel slides, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to the tyre and in serious cases causing a flat edge on the tyre, and you get the noise of "bang-bang-bang as the wheel rotates, so a trip to the wheel lathe is required or in more serious cases a whole new wheels etc costing tens of thousands of pounds. We also have loco hauled RHTT trains all over rhe country, loco hauled, an engine at either end of 4 wagons, spraying the rail head with high pressure water jets. The "Floydd" Black class 56 was a model of a class 56, obviously, which was exported abroad to Europe, not the brightest idea of Hornbys, as its a specialist market and there's lots at Hornby shop here in Margate they can't sell coz no one wants them. The Pullman Observation car is popular but prices range second hand, from £80 - £140 depending what part of the country you're in. That was some drive from Devon to Dorset, Wimborne, at least a 2 and a half hours, brings back memories of when I lived in Devon. Great video once again
Re the N gauge layout and you said "Somerset and Dorset Green livery" to my.knowledge, the SDJR didnt have locos in green, their livery was blue. The loco you referrd to running looked more like a South Eastern And Chatham Railway (SECR) C class loco in SECR green livety, lined in red.
Indeed you are correct John, I should know better as in our recent Buffers Model Shop video I was saying how much I love their blue livery. I make quite a few basic errors in our videos as they are basically live with no retakes. Such is the joy of RUclips there are always helpful souls who can help me out in the comments. Thanks for watching and all the best Rick
Ray Heard has most likely had more of my money than the tax man over the years. Sometimes his loco prices are a little higher than other dealers, but it's always quality. Not been to that particular show but may have to check it out next year.
If we lived a bit closer he'd take more of mine as well.
The snow layout looked stunning
What a great find. Worth travelling all that way.
Some fantastic layouts there some work gone in to them
Great to see our favourite 0-4-0T - Bobby - again. Trains weren't bad either.
Cheers Cathy!
Thanks for the great video and taking the time to visit our show, hopefully we can welcome you to another in the future. Cheers Chris - Wessex Association of Model Railway Clubs

Great to see Bobby
Some nice layouts and very reasonable prices 👍👍👍
He enjoys all the attention and even more so if treats are about.
Lovely to see great layouts with good owners on display. I would hope to see a layout of Swanage Railway!! I’m a steam fanatic and have volunteered for my local heritage railway.
There's already a layout of Swanage on the exhibition circuit

Excellent as always, thanks for keeping it light, just as a hobby should be.
Cheers Martin, we try to keep it fun and light. All the best Rick
Great video lots of good layouts and bargains hope you had a nice day at the beach 👍
It did brighten up and the beach was good.
A great show! Beautiful layouts, and the water scene @34.00 was one of the best I have seen. Well done to them. Nice selection of stock on the tables, as well!
Hi Anthony, quite the layout wasn't it. All the best Rick
Another excellent video, you know exactly which layout I liked, the weathered Diesels. Superb very authentic, also the layout with the snow landscape.
Good choice Nick!
Hiya guys what a nice show that was, some great layouts.
Cheers Digger
Looks like you enjoyed your expedition "down south". Very much enjoyed your interaction with the exhibitors.
I will be going to Dorset next year!! I’ve been a Dorset fanatic since I first rode on the Swanage Railway. I must have been about three at the time!!
Cheers Brad! Winter layouts are rare but always eye catching. All the best Rick
I don't know how you find them but . Well done you and thanks for the videos!!!!!!!!
fab as always
Cheers Geoffrey

Hi Harry, yes Bobby was on hand to distract Pauline. 😂

@ Pauline: you should talk more to my wife Myriam, she always comes up with spa's , never train shows while we are on holiday😮💨
Cheers,

Hi Danny, I was booking a Spa weekend for us both but Pauline was not impressed when she realised I meant Formula 1. 😂😂😂

Hi Tim, I was surprised at the prices! Snowy layouts are always great to see. Cheers Rick
I hope you see the local layout!! It’s called Swanage and is in 00 gauge. It’s a wonderful representation of the Swanage Railway.
great vid on train show thanks for the vlogs and shareing thanks lee
Thanks Lee
I run a batch of small wagons with one of my Gronks!!
When I visited Shelbyville, Indiana some 30 years ago, I was asked by my cousin to wait for a steam special coming in from Hershey full of car parts for their business. It was hauled by a Big Boy!!

10.40 is a trackcleaner
Hi from Glasgow are you coming to Model Rail Scotland in February
We have no plans as yet but you never know. We went to Edinburgh one January a few years ago and I've still not got the feeling back in my toes. 😂😂
