    Chiropractors are also nut jobs who overestimate their capabilities. Very simple difference 🤷‍♀️. Also chiropractic “medicine” isn’t a thing because they don’t practice medicine.

    Do you think the drop table technique works like HVLA? And if its not gonna change your bone alignment why is there some video shows some scoliosis, kyphosis or imbalanced legs can be corrected after few treatment? Is it because the proprioception resets the biomechanics of the body so the muscle and nerves start to sending new signal to pull the bone back to right the place?

    • @dr.hosteopathic1013
      @dr.hosteopathic1013 3 года назад

      Yes, drop table is similar to HVLA, from my understanding. You are right in that it is the soft-tissue/muscular changes that are likely leading to the improvements seen in idiopathic scoliosis and kyphosis cases.

    How can you tell accurately where a spinal dysfunction is by just using your hands? Most doctors need to use MRI, xray, or some kind of imaging.

    • @dr.hosteopathic1013
      @dr.hosteopathic1013 4 года назад

      Great question Jay! I am looking for different dysfunctions, such as muscle imbalances, tightness, loss of spinal curvature, poor mobility, spasms, etc.. These are all problems best evaluated with a good physical exam rather than any kind of imaging. However, if I suspect something like a disc herniation, degenerative changes, or nerve root impingement, then I could utilize the appropriate imaging modality to evaluate these problems further.

    When you perform physical manipulation, what is the actual goal? Is there actually peer reviewed research that backs up any specific benefit? I am asking because I've always heard that there's no scientific evidence that seeing a chiropractor (which is my only experience with manipulation) has any more benefits than a profession massage from an LMT, and that the risks are much higher than a massage because of the stress it puts on your skeleton.

    • @dr.hosteopathic1013
      @dr.hosteopathic1013 4 года назад

      Great question! The extent and quality of research for all forms of manipulation isn't great; however, there are quite a few peer-reviewed studies showing the benefits of osteopathic manipulation (OMT), including spinal manipulation, for all sorts of disorders. There are systematic reviews from the Cochrane database, a review in the New England Journal of Medicine, and a systemic meta-analysis in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders just to name a few from more prominent sources. In terms of studies comparing chiropractic to massage, I am not familiar with any; however, since OMT encompasses the techniques used in both chiropractic and massage, I doubt there would be any use in doing comparative studies between them. As far as choosing massage or chiropractic, it is probably best to pick whichever provides you relief AND you're comfortable with. Either way, I would recommend seeing a physician if you have long-term pain. The advantage of seeing a D.O. who does manipulation is that you can be evaluated by a physician who can also do the same techniques as a chiropractor and/or massage therapist.

    So they teach you how to do this as part of ostepathic school? I am trying to decide between MD and DO. Would an MD need to take additional training to be able to practice HVLA?

    • @dr.hosteopathic1013
      @dr.hosteopathic1013 4 года назад

      Great question! Yes, they teach you this technique, and many others, in osteopathic medical school. You would not learn this at MD school, but there are courses for MDs who want to learn OMT.
