The Who - Christmas [Live at Hull] - Bass Cover
The Who - Christmas, Live at Hull, 1970
The song tells how on Christmas morning, Tommy's father is worried about Tommy's future, and soul. His future is jeopardized due to being deaf, dumb, and blind. The lyrics contrast religious themes such as Christmas and Jesus Christ with Tommy's ignorance of such matters. The rhetorical question, "How can he be saved from the eternal grave?" is asked about Tommy's condition and adds speculation as to the nature of original sin and eternal salvation. In the middle of the song, "Tommy can you hear me?" is repeated, with Tommy responding, "See me, feel me, touch me, heal me."
The song makes repeated use of suspended fourth chords that resolve to triads. ...

The Who - Eyesight To The Blind (The Hawker), Live at Hull, 1970 A quack claims his wife can cure Tommy ("The Hawker"). Eyesight To The Blind is a 12-bar blues song written and recorded in 1951 by Sonny Boy Williamson II. The Who adapted the song for the 1969 rock opera album Tommy. The Who - Overture/It's A Boy (live at hull), 1970 The show was performed on 15 February at Hull and was thought as the new live album, but due to technical problems with the recordings from the gig (the bass guitar had not been recorded on some of the songs) Live at Leeds was chosen as the live album. Overture/It's A Boy is the intro of Tommy and opens the second part of Hull performance. Tomm...

The Who - Substitute [Live at Leeds] - Bass Cover

The Who - Substitute (live at leeds), 1970 Funny thing, this is one of the easiest songs from Live at Leeds! "We'd like to play three hit singles from our past for ya. Three selected hit singles, the three easiest. There's "Substitute", which we like. [...] Thank you. That was our first number four" (Pete Townshend, Live at Leeds). It's simply amazing how every single song is so much powerful c...
The Who - My Generation [Live at Leeds] FULL - Bass Cover
Просмотров 14 тыс.3 года назад
The Who - My Generation (live at leeds), 1970, full version! This is the toughest bass cover I've ever made! Side two of Live at Leeds begins with a 15-minute rendition of "My Generation", which was greatly extended to include a medley of other songs and various improvisations. These include a brief extract of "See Me, Feel Me" and the ending of "Sparks" from Tommy, and part of "Naked Eye" that...
John Entwistle - Try Me - Bass Cover

John Entwistle - Try Me (1981) Happy birthday my hero! John would have been 76 today. The greatest bass guitarist of all time! Try Me is the first track of Too Late The Hero, the fifth solo studio album by John Entwistle, released on 23 November 1981. I'm using the Thunderbird but maybe with an Alembic Spyder Exploiter it would have sounded better ;) Tuning: D A D G (drop D) Thanks for watching...

The Who - Love Ain't For Keeping (live at Young Vic, 1971) New chapter! Live at Young Vic is another great live recording which is included in Who's Next deluxe edition. Its themes include the joy of physical love, the power of nature and the need to live for the momen...
The Who - Amazing Journey/Sparks [Live at Leeds] - Bass Cover

The Who - Amazing Journey/Sparks (live at leeds), 1970 "Come on the amazing journey and learn all you should know". The 4th song from the rock opera Tommy (1969), following Sparks, a small instrumental part with John's bass solo. This is one of the coolest (and hardest) basslines to play from Tommy: fingerstyle, galloping, picking, (everything!) and an incredible feeling between bass and drums....
The Who - A Quick One (While He's Away) [Live at Leeds] - Bass Cover

The Who - A Quick One (While He's Away), Live at Leeds 1970 Another incredible song by the loudest band in the world! This mini rock opera is from A Quick One album, 1966. The song tells the story of an unnamed girl whose lover has been gone "for nearly a year". Her friends inform her that they "have a remedy"; the remedy comes in the form of Ivor the Engine Driver. When the lover returns, the ...

The Who, I Can't Explain (live at Leeds 1970). A powerful version of the famous single. I really like how John and Keith mixed their techniques together to make this unique rhythm. Here John worked a lot with the right hand, with a lot of galloping and ghost notes. Thanks for watching! Cox

The Who - Summertime Blues [Live at Leeds] - Bass Cover
~ I think Ox would be proud.
Do the trick of the Light
I don't if it is only an impression, but the pick seems to make the sound more mechanical. Amazing performance, though
Braviiiissiiimoooo!
Amazing! It’s not easy to cover the best base player in the world!
Is that neck a Precision or a Jazz?
You're really great, even the way you stand reminds me of the Ox. I wonder if you're familiar with the bass line from the movie version of Acid Queen. I'm pretty sure it's Entwistle, but I've never seen anyone cover it or been able to find tabs or a tutorial of it. Thanks for sharing these!
The bass artistry of the part spanning 4:15 to 4:37 always gets me. PS I believe that Bad Company stole the riff for Feel Like Makin’ Love.
How can a man commit all that fluctuating detail to memory?!
A man of class and culture!
The performance is great and the sound quality is just like John.
@@kedacchi12 thank you!
Amazing!
Interesting that they were playing in A instead of G
This track is what inspired me to pick up the bass guitar almost 40 years ago. The rendition you posted here reminds me of that very moment I said to myself, "I want to do that!" Well done, Sir!
@@shantypiker41367 Thank you! Unironically me too! Live at Leeds inspired me in everything. I started around 11yo as a guitarist and I was a beatle fan but then I switched to bass because of that cool Hofner bass. Then one day my sister came in my room and gave me some CDs to listen to. I saw the Live at Leeds one and I was intrigued. After few minutes of listening everything became clear. The day after I was playing bass over the songs trying to play like John. That album really changed my life
Thanks for posting these videos. Got to enjoy some of my favorite Who songs from JE’s perspective.
@@georgebetts5567 thank you!
👌👏👏
Kudos.
Superb! I also love his playing on Another Tricky Day from the Rockpalast broadcast. Similarly funky groove. Nobody sounds like him…except you, of course!
Good sound.
Nicely done.
Gotta love Keith!!
The new thunderfingers right there , give Pete and Roger a phone call ,you are needed in The Who
Pete and Roger need to phone you to play in The Who
Thanks for these videos. You could probably do some Jack Casady tunes justice too from the Jefferson Airplane.
Nice playing and great tone. What's cool about this video too, is that when I see the shadow of the low E tuning peg, it's looks like a long haired guy ( Jim Morrison maybe) standing on a hillside. The A and G tuning pegs might be trees. Not quite sure what the D peg is. ....maybe it's just a D peg.
Awesome! I’ve been listening to this song for 35 years and you nailed it 👏
❤
Great bass player 👌👍
Love the part when the song takes off in all sorts of directions after the original part. You hear some parts of Tommy and bits of new songs they are working on . All this after John goes into that gallop with Petes guitar. Always thought of Leeds "My Generation/ medley " as absolute epic version.
He looks like a young John Entwistle
Well fu****g done man. Note perfect.
Thank you! :)

That's a nice bass
Gotta love the lead bass sound. There isn’t enough of that in music.
YOURE INSANE!!! Thank you for appreciating the best Live Band ever! The Who 😎
Fantastic, Cox Bassman.
Awesome !
Good job
5:20 You missed several details beginning here. My favorite spot being a pair of notes, echoed an octave apart, followed by a blues-scale climb from way low. I've had this memorized for decades.
Thank you for notice that! That part was very tricky due to speeding tempo and fast licks, and yeah I missed some notes and licks I agree. I made it more in my style as the next part around minute 8. It was hard to remember everything for 14 minutes... but I tried! If you could explain it in a video it would be great!
Tried posting a RUclips link but it won't show.
@@coxbassman968 John Entwistle (The Who) - Live at Leeds (AI Isolated Bass/Full Album) is the video title and it begins at 44 minutes & 30 seconds
Fantastic work! This is a hidden gem from the Who!
Bravissimo! Now I'll try to follow your interpretation di My Generation
Buena técnica
Good choice I love this LP
Devastanteee cæzzzœ
dude... you absolutely killed it. Love your finger style. Thank you for recording this.
Absolutely brilliant. Best bass cover of this out there! You nail it. I play bass in a tribute to The Who and I come to your channel to fine tune my playing. Your playing is spot on😊 I actually just bought the exact same Fender Player Precision Bass mainly because of this video. ❤
Thank you so much Scott! I'm amazed! I'm following your channel too and you have lots of incredible and unique bass guitars and amps! I would love to try an Hiwatt setup head+412cab through a bass just to know what it feels like but sadly they're really rare around here. Never ever tried one. I'm trying my best to recreate using budget pedals or amps the Live at Leeds bass sound which I think is one of the coolest bass sound EVER, no contest. But who knows maybe one day I'll get it... :)
O som áspero, ardido e slto deste baixo é fantástico. Parabens.
i love your tones Ox' fender work was the inbetween point because Lifehouse/Whos next & Quadrophenia his style changed again.
