The azamina cards do actually nothing for chimera and it is a pretty sizable package. If I wanted to add a negate to start turns with I think nightmare throne is significantly better, but I'm probably more likely to just cut the edge imp package and play a smaller deck count than to replace it with the azamina stuff

Still playable for sure, the ceiling will just be a bit lower. You can still abuse the free body you get from the yubel by summoning silhouhatte rabbit or something instead, or even pivoting to more of a fiend link build with unchained cards. At the very least you save on deck space so you're much more likely to open nightmare throne

You can end with all 3 set, and then search mace, goblin and a follow up blade/angwitch on your opponents turn with all those interruptions

@@wardy4903 you can negate the first thing they activate with apophis to play around bluff setting otherwise you just pop every time they set

Somebody else already pointed that out in the pinned comment! If you really need to pop more backrow there's always the option of an earlier guardian chimera but yes tri horn only pops face ups

M7 is for when you have to start by normal summoning lacrima, it turns it into full memento combo. If you don't play M7 then lacrima is a soft brick and can only make caesar or desirae

Pure can definitely do this too! I found that I couldn't quite get enough bodies out of a 1 card combo to both play around nib, and get the rabbit trap live so that's why I opted for the fiendsmith variant for this video

Yeah I realized that if you hard draw the diabellze there's not really a great way to get it out of your hand unfortunately, but using Gryphon is a great idea

I suppose not technically a FTK you’re right about that, more of a pseudo FTK since your opponent won’t be able to play much at all. It’s what chimera does but significantly better

​@@ggGio so it's Chimera but instead of playing with multiple cards in hand to build a big board you play with 1 card combos and maybe an extender and die to any interruption known to mankind got it

@@heinzpeterson you play just as many if not more extenders and are significantly more resilient through HTs, plus you are able to play HTs more effectively because you have so many 1 card combos. Most of the videos on this channel are about chimera so I’m not sure why you’re talking like I don’t know what that deck does or how it plays

I believe it was fire king, mermail, snake eye, chimera and then the loss was to yubel in top 8

@@ggGio have you played only to 4 matchups in 13-14 Rounds?

@@bryanhila2780 giant card tournaments are single elim so its only around 7 rounds total if you go all the way

I think it depends on how heavy the yubel engine you put in is, but 3 throne 1 spirit 1 yubel was treating me nicely when I tried it!

Its basically the same as the board you get from the 1 card dark blade but it also has a caesar. Depending on the hand you can sometimes end with the creation king on board too but thats more than a 2 card combo

Depending on what you consider a god board but if you are playing the fiendsmith stuff you can get to a full memento combo plus your choice of Desirae or Ceaser from almost all the one card starters.

I mean yeah normally you'd rather just have the negates to back up your board but sometimes you have hands where your only way to play is to get into the memento stuff with engraver. None of them are really hard bricks because if you play M7 they can almost all lead to full memento combo on their own

@@ggGio they’re not hard bricks but I feel like the deck already suffers from way too many normal summons and adding lurrie and Lacrima makes me want to add the full package even less 😭. Also playing a higher deck counts means you have to play more non engine to make sure you draw 2-3 often, and there’s not enough good non engine rn to facilite that

@@sqrtxfaith2188 some very valid points for sure. I think the pure build probably plays consistently better into stuff while the fiendsmith version has a much higher ceiling so I guess it just depends a lot on your play style

Yeah unfortunately in the main event I got lightning stormed for 4-5 backrow probably 6 times in the first 4 rounds so that was a wash

@@Atrax1er I had the rabbit in my build before leaving for the event but was worried about being able to out my own bystial or retaliating c and ended up cutting it beforehand. Definitely considering throwing it back in because the lizard did not come up as much as I was expecting it to

@@ggGioThe situation where you need to clear your board with lizard doesn’t come up to me. Maybe i play this wrong. For backrow protection i also play Herald, you can make it with goblin + ghattic or shleepy + cross sheep. I usually end on 2 link 2 between S:P, herald, rabbit depending on the matchup. I’m really terrified of boardbreakers like Lightning, evenly, or feather because secretly we are a backrow deck :p The dawnfall with Herald is that you only have Mace to discard, so it’s here mainly for Evenly. How were D Barrier and Solemn for Shifter matchups ? Right now I’m testing the feather storm tech but I’m not fully satisfied of it

@@Atrax1er Yeah the lizard didn't come up much, it was more so for when I sided in the retaliating C. Its probably worth playing the rabbit with apophis instead tbh. I'm not a fan of the herald link personally but I can see the merit in playing it. D barrier was great because it let me not die to shifter/lightning storm lol, judgment was there for the same reason. I liked the idea of 3 judgment and anti spell every game going first because like you said we're secretly a backrow deck

@@H0LYB00F I haven’t played around with it too much tbh but I think the azamina cards might be just win more. You already win majority of the games you go first and going second they don’t seem too ideal as the continuous spell is a pretty big choke point

I think if I were to try and build chimera and fit everything, my build would look pretty different from his. Personally, I really don't think the azamina cards are good in chimera right now because there is quite literally no synergy other than the typing and I would rather just have anything else in my main deck. Chimera already wins majority of the time going first so it doesn't really make sense to me to lean even heavier into a t1 board. Maybe that changes over time with more support cards but just looking at the deck from a post rota perspective I wouldn't take it to a tournament

@@aybarskoc8017 I had some different versions of lists I was toying with up that had 2 big wing. Personally I go back and forth on playing 1 or 2. I think it’s just a mental adjustment you have to get used to (how many you play) and typically will side one out in games anyways if I play 2. I really enjoy having both copies in my deck but I think it’s probably most correct to only be on one

@@ggGio yeah fair, I am also on 1 now and I havent looked back. fiendsmith version is not dependent on berfomet resolving as much as the other version are

Not likely. There really isn't any synergy with chimera other than the illusion typing. Its not worth cutting cards from the already extremely tight extra deck for imo

Definitely a cuttable card for sure. I don't play it in my newest list. I did miss it a bit over the weekend but thats only because I kept hard drawing the adusted gold. Its nice for playing into boards sometimes but definitely not mandatory by any means. Its a bit more realistic to play if you play diabolica since you can add back the gold to search it after combo'ing but thats more of a niche thing you can do

I think its a bit overkill in chimera because you generally aren't fusing for des irae. If thats part of your game plan then its definitely worth including but you're almost always fusing for aerial eater or berfomet in this deck, so the extra light fiend body doesn't do a ton (it can be neat for making a chaos angel though!)

Some hands it can be pretty tough to play through droll for sure. Tough to include crossout though because it means you also have to find room for the crossout targets. Going first, if you side thrusts and get drolled, you can thrust for a turn skip trap (dbarrier, different dimension ground, etc) and try again on the follow up

@@ggGio as I kept watching the video I realized thrust is a good option but would that just be a good option to side in or is it just better to main the thrusts?

@@rred1023 I think its better as a side option. Nightfall mentioned siding out some fiendsmith stuff and cards like diabellze/diabolica for the thrusts when you go second and you take out cards like dark ruler/droplet when you go first for it. The targets vary so its very matchup dependant
