Years and years of experience sure makes it look easy. Takes me a half hour to get it just closed
THANK YOU, THIS IS SO HELPFUL TO MY CIELING, GOD BLESS 😁
I'm really curious about how that ceiling got so warped, and what was causing those lumps.
He had some guys try to fix it before I got there. It ended up turning out really bad so I went behind them and did it right….
DIOSSSSSS MIOOOOOOO, 😮 wow, im so impressed
warning ⚠️⚠️ surgeon at work ❤ thanks I learned a lot, sorry Canada guy
Great video. Thanks guys.
How the pro does it is enlightening
Two words Flap disc
Don’t want to put a grinder on it you’ll tear it up. Just start the sharpening process with sandpaper. Knock your corners down a little bit and then let the wall do the sharpening!
I have no experience and followed your video on cutting the drywall by butterfly method. And I DID IT. Or next I am going to glue it down. Just wanted to thank you.
Glad it helped!!
What if you have both sides of corner like this showing metal on each side. Is it better to put tape the corner and fold in the middle or use 2 diff pieces of tape?
No, don’t fold over the corner. You need that metal to show. Just tape both sides. and remake the corner with mud.
Awesome Video
That rubber is a great tip! I am doing knockdown right now, and using a wide metal knife. The corner of the knife leaves lines if you’re not super carful. I totally fucked up the closet, so I’m heading to Lowes or HD for some rubber! Need to get this dialed in before I get to the main area where it’s more noticeable! Great video! Thanks Guys!👊
You should play with that patch for another hr bro,,,pick it up Brother…
This Master is very good, I wish he were in my neighborhood...
New subscriber here. I enjoyed this video. This is artistry for sure
Great video...always. What do you recommend for concealing grey sanding sponge stain on newly double-primed and double-paint-coated drywall ceiling (used Sherwin-Williams multi-purpose latex based primer and S-W Cashmere latex based paint on the ceiling)? Thanx
You have to prime it with an oil base. You can buy a can of pro block oil base and just spray it and then touch up paint after. Hope this helps.
what pressure? and plastic knifes work better and are wider.
Pressure is very low when you’re spraying a heavy knockdown because you want the biggest blobs that you can so to speak. Press is really just determined on what you’re trying to match or what you’re trying to accomplish. As far as knock down, blade I like the rubber because it’s easier to leave lines with metal or plastic knock down blades but each to their own in that regard. As far as length of the blade, I buy 8 foot pieces so you can cut them any size you want we cut them 2 foot and put them on a pole if we do a whole room.
Is the a Purdy Colossus roller? Thx.
@scottssheetrockservices, I saw your other video where you used the stamp you made, but I like the speed and flexibility with the single brush. Our home was built in 2003 and I've stared at the ceiling many times wondering how this pattern was done. Would have been easier if it was sprayed and knocked down or crows foot. Thanks for the video.
@scottssheetrockservices thanks for this video. I'm doing a remodel in my Houston home and have this texture on the ceiling. I think I'll build my own like you did. Which brush did you use?
You can buy the brushes for Murco or look up Scotts sheet rock service online and call me and maybe we can hook it up for you
@@scottssheetrockservices Thanks for the quick reply. I found a 3" x 8" brush, DQB #11643 on sale at Zorro. Five brushes shipped was $25! I'll let you know how it goes.
ive always seen people use durabond with fibafuse not plaster of paris i wonder what the difference is
Ju st a couple of helpful observations - wear a lapel mic, so that no matter which way you face, we'll hear you. Prevent others from making working noises while you're recording.
Definitely, if I get in a place with time to be more aggressive with videos I’ll sure take note of that suggestion but I’m normally working to pay the bills and don’t have time for videos very often thanks
@@scottssheetrockservices You're quite welcome. Mud on, bro', mud on!
That’s what we do…
And you can still see the middle ridge👌
Float coat and skim coat two different colors of mud skim coats real tight. All you can see is color difference between the two coats of mud not a ridge ,painted eggshell on it next day it was beautiful!
@scottssheetrockservices you obviously didnt want to show that tho
The type of tape used is determined by the type of mud used. Mesh tape was designed to be used with quicksetting mud. Also, the type of crack an reason for crack should also determine the type of mud an tape used. This type of cracking looks like faulty taping an finishing from original finishing. I agree with some of the comments about creating a v groove for mud to bond.
What did you do space out the brush hairs?
You have to go through and cut the bristles on the brush to match whatever it is, you’re trying to do
I just tried fibafuse for the first time the other day. That stuff is a good product
I got the same exact weather stripping for the knock down. Looks like you got a nice match, perfect.
Just what I was looking for! I'm renovating our 50 year old kitchen and needed to match the ceiling texture. Thanks for posting this!
I’m repairing a bunch of nail pops and cracking corner bead around a window. Do you recommend repairing the nail pops before the corner bead? Thanks
I mean, I would do it all at once you have to do a float and a skim nail pops will take two coats. Hope this helps..
Scott you are a pro at what you do, great job. keep up the great work. I am subscribing, you are a keeper.
Az style....use a follar store toilet brush and smack against forearm and has same effect as his but faster with no messy hands
Thank you for the video. I started screening it and it helped out so much with not having streaks or chunks
thanks 22 inches of mud
What are those plastic beads called lol plastic bead?
It’s actually not a plastic. It’s a laminate paper faced, and as you saw in the video we glue it on with mud and it has a lifetime guarantee it. I’ll never crack and has no metal in it so it can’t rust. Really bad ass product! Been using it for 17 years in my business and I’ve never fixed a single crack corner bead behind it. Just saying…
I have no words great job guys!!!
mesh tape works if you know how to use it you have fill it with sheetrock 90 then it wont crack and a pan and knife no no no trowel and hawk when drywall taping and at the end lets see a light on the side of the repair because you can still see the hump on the joint this is not the way to repair this.
Everybody has a difference of opinion, but if anybody wants to get side-by-side with me with a hawk and trial and my pan and knife, I’ll take that challenge any day! The only hump you see there is a variation of color between the skim coat and the float coat and when we painted two coats of eggshell. The following day it was beautiful just saying…
EXCELLENT !!
Pretty rare to see someone who actually knows what they are doing make videos like this. Well done sir.
Always use mesh tape. If the job requires paper tape then pay someone who knows what they are doing. Mesh tape sticks on and is easy to fill, any homeowner can do it. Paper tape will make you wish you had never tried.
This guy doesn’t have a clue…the reason it cracked on new construction is it probably wasn’t screwed off properly, code is max of 8” O.C. on butts. He should have re screwed before mudding, that was his first of many mistakes
That particular house was roughly 25 years old, and that crack happened after a very hot summer with that wall being adjacent to the garage. primed and painted egg shell the following day, and it was absolutely beautiful! Have a great night!
You are in Texas,I’m in Washington and your finish looks like crap from here…lol
If that happened that quick there's a bigger problem
As a retired City of Los Angeles employee, I can watch people work all day.
Enjoy your retirement!!!
Hopefully not in Los Angeles
Great job. Master at the trade. Nice to watch and learn Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
The wd 40 doesn’t contaminate your mud the next time you use it?
No, you do a light coat what will contaminate your mud worse than that on the next go round is rust. Hope this helps…
@@scottssheetrockservices definitely, thanks much! I’m gonna give it a try. Sub’d👍🏻
best skip trowel example for a repair that I've seen. Great Job guys and thank you
What kind of plaster did you use
Plaster of Paris…
I wish i had seen this before. I've tried the mesh tape - which is horrible. Then i used paper tape, but that bubbles. I am swearing, using words that dont exist. Lol
So none of the tape is bad you just don't know what you're doing
@@AndrewB23 do you think? Lol
Roll it?…. like corner roller roll it? In some videos I’ve seen fibafuse with a crease but unfortunately not any around here…… around here it’s no crease but fibafuse is awesome
Yeah, roll it with a tape roller I use this tape on all my patches, which is basically all I do now besides remodel. Did new construction for years but not anymore thankfully
What kind of mud you use and set time? I need to buy to repair mines.
The mix consist of plaster of Paris that you mix in powder form with water in your pan to about a syrup or maybe a little thicker consistency and an add about 2 1/2 scoops of mud with your 6 inch knife trick is you have to mix very thoroughly depending on what mud you use 7 to 10 minutes and it’s hard. I personally use USG +3.
I need help spraying peearltex and sand mixture . After I skim coat my ceiling. Had some popcorn. Kitchen and another texture in living room .
Why would you want to get rid of popcorn to spray sand? Maybe an Orange peal or roll-on or smooth finish or a brush finish
