Ha, not much common sense Carrie. You never did elaborate. But great to be out in the hills after a little while away. What do they say? Be bold go cold. Mind you, it was a chilly one - the wind must have dropped the temp by 4 degrees at least or more. I imagine you found your lunch spot and got back down feeling great. Good going. All the best. Mark
Hi Mark, it was a chilly one, I can't wait for spring and those warmer days!
@@carriehikes Ah, it kept you alert then Carrie. Yeah, roll on spring.
Hello from France! Excellent video with which I discover the channel! Simple and effective as I like! Lots of interesting videos. One more subscriber in solidarity between hikers and youtubers! Thank you very much for sharing, Laurent.🙂👍
Hello and welcome, thanks for the sub, much appreciated :D
@@carriehikes Welcome🙂
Hi Carrie. Lovely walk. Looks very similar to mine in the Forest of Bowland yesterday. Saw no one, it was bliss! 😀🥾⛰
It's the joy of getting away from the world isn't it, thanks for watching as always :D
That looked like a lovely walk and a perfect way for you to destress. The power of nature. Loved the shafts of light breaking through the clouds before you reached the summit. The pockets of snow still remaining also gave it that wintery feel. The type of walk where it’s great to eventually get back and get the kettle on… Atb Carrie and thanks for sharing. Gav
Thanks for watching and commenting Gav, much appreciated. Can't wait 'til it warms up a bit in the spring, it was too cold up there! :D
What lovely views, not very clear but very atmospheric 😊
It was a shame about the views- a walk for another day! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :D
Hope your stress was gone by the end of your walk. I've walked through Arkle Town, and always thought "town" was a bit exaggerated!
Hi David, it's an interesting name for such a tiny place. Yes, I certainly felt much better after a walk, thanks for watching :D
Those skies! A lovely walk, thank you for taking us along.
Hi Catherine, it was a lovely walk, thanks for watching :D
Great video, Carrie! Certainly looked a brisk, chilly one! The views were amazing, especially where the sun rays were shining through the cloudiness - very atmospheric. Well done for persevering with the bitter coldness. Really enjoyed that. We've just booked our summer holiday... a week in the Yorkshire Dales. Really looking forward to it 😊
Hi Jenny, it was a chilly one. A week in the YD in summer sounds perfect! :D
Great call on the day off, wet feet are no fun and a great start from Rosthwaite, I have been over that old stone bright so many times over the years. Not a fan of cows but that Highland cattle did look amazing and remember going into the actual Millican Daltons cave with friends but I could I hell as find it again when I took Mrs Metalman a few years later :o(. Loved the views over Derwentwater and another good call of stopping at Keswick, nothing wrong with section hiking the Cumbria Way, when it is right for you and Spring sound dry and sunny to me, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, yes I'll be back in spring to complete it, I'm looking forward to it! Thanks for watching :D
A very beautiful area of the world. Well done for heading to the top. Great video.
It is a beautiful walk, I'll have to go back on a clear day- the views are great. Thanks for watching :D
Top video Carrie and an enjoyable watch. Thanks for the video.👍🙂
Thanks for watching, looking forward to seeing your next one :D
Lovely walk. Hope the coming week is better for you. Atb
Thanks Pete, hope you have a good week too :D
The bridge on the road at Arkle suffered a partial wall colapse, was found to be unsafe so all the original road, bridge and arches has been removed, that is a temporary road thus the hairpin to take the road round. They will start to rebuild the original road and bridge and when finished that temporary road will be gone
Thanks for the information, that's very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to comment, much appreciated :D
Looks a great walk another for my list thanks Carrie lovely as always .
Hi Andy, you're welcome :D
Great video and hike
Thank you :D
@carriehikes 🙂
Hi Carrie I enjoyed your walk a lovely area, and I don't mind you you blathering on because I do that on my videos, atb Carrie cheers Glenn, its a a 👍from me
@@glennswalks7693 Thanks Glenn ✌️
hi Carrie like you said great weather for walking and a nice river to help de stress great views from the top the light beaming down out of the clouds thanks for sharing
Hi Steven, I felt like a new person after that walk, getting out in nature always puts life back in to perspective. Thanks for watching :D
Amazing work on this video-it’s clear you’ve put a lot of effort into it! If you’re wondering why the engagement or reach isn’t where it should be, it could be due to certain small issues on your channel. I’d love to share some tips that could help. How can we connect?
Thanks but I'm alright as I am
Weather looked a lot better than the first day on the Cumbria Way, although there was still a lot of surface water about. Shame about the lost audio and been there too with an dodgy GoPro Media Mod but at least the footage was safe. I love that part of the lakes, its amazing high up but on the flat around Tarn Hows is just as amazing as well. Late check in at the YMCA but sitting in the sunshine, what a different to the previous day, cheers Alan
Thanks for watching Alan, much appreciated :D
Another beautiful walk, Carrie! I'd be in my element with all that mud! 😂 Hope your foot pain has eased and on the mend. All the best, Jenny 😊
If I had some wellies like yours I'd be fine! Thanks for watching :D
It was great, dear friend 👍👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Enjoyed the walk , and thank you for subscribing to my channel , lets walk with Jeff . I will be looking out for more of your videos , Cheers Jeff
The river Don was impressive. Interesting that the church was called St Cuthberts as I'm walking his trail in may
Local legend is that St Cuthbert is buried in the church apparently, I doubt it's true. I would love to walk the St Cuthbert's Way, hope you enjoy it :D
Nice to see a walk not too far from where I live.A completely different landscape to your Dales walks but nice in its own way.Enjoy watching your walks.
As long as I'm walking I'm happy- got to make the most of what's available at the time. Thanks for watching :D
Looked so lovely. I do enjoy walking in the winter sun. I've seen a Nightjar, a strange looking bird 😊
Hi Jenny, never seen a nightjar so I might have to go and look for one when they are over here next :D
@carriehikes We found one sitting on rocks on the Whitby coast, when on holiday a few years back. Not what we expected to see on the beach. It was very well camouflaged against the rocks, so we were lucky to see it.
Very interesting video,thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it :D
cool....glad you detoured to see St Cuthberts...that doorway is an amazing feature..all the times i have passed by i have never been in...must visit next time.
It's worth popping in to look around, amazing piece of local history :D
Hi Carrie. St Cuthberts Church is beautiful, thank you for showing us around. 😀🥾⛪️
Thanks for watching :D
Love the church thanks Carrie lovely as always.
Thanks for watching :D
Hi Carrie I’m at work at the moment but I’ll be watching your video later, I’m looking forward to it, have a nice day cheers Glenn 👍
Hi Glenn, thanks for watching and commenting :D
Very nice walk Carrie and really interesting old church. The Hare & Hounds at Fishlake looks worth a visit too.
Hi Henry, I'm sure it is worth a visit! Thanks for watching :D
Nice one as usual Carrie. Hope foot is feeling better. Atb
Hi Pete, thankfully the foot is on the mend, thanks :D

Thank you so much 🤗
Lovely walk, so peaceful 😊
Yes it was! Thanks for watching :D
Hi Carrie 😊 hope you’ve had a nice Christmas and New Years. The mist did make the walk look so beautiful. That bridge was lovely with the plant life growing over it.
Thank you, you too! It was the perfect misty walk :D

People often think of Flat lands being boring and tedious, you have proved that this is not the case..it's so gorgeous out there...my fave is yet to come...Hatfield moors.
Thanks Steven, I'm looking forward to it next time I'm down that way :D
Thanks again for posting. Shame about having to backtrack at the end. Glad it didn't make you miss your train.
Hi David, thanks for watching :D
hi Carrie the first part look like it would be full of nature all year round shame about the trail being blocked off near the end
Hi Steven, it's a lovely little walk- probably even better in the summer :D
A beautiful trail but definitely 'darkness at noon' in the depths of winter - already feels like it's a tiny bit lighter now. Sometimes navigating municipal scrubland is the hardest part of a walk!
Hi Catherine, yeah that corner of scrubland is obviously where the teenagers hang out!
Hi Carrie, another lovely section of the trail, thanks for taking us along again. All the best Dave
Thanks Dave :D
Looks an interesting area Carrie lovely as always .
Thanks Andy :D
We don't often comment but you are doing amazing! Keep on with the great content and best of luck with your 2025 plans 🤙🏼
Thanks fellas :D
Looks a great walk that Carrie. Nice to see something different and local, look forward to the next one!
Thanks James :D
Really enjoyed that. I agree that the mist does give off a magical atmosphere. That bridge was stunning. Looking forward to the next one. Happy New Year to you, all the best, Jenny 😊
Thanks Jenny and Happy New Year :D
Excellence.... Looks like the type of weather I had on my Wolds Way...
It certainly was the same weather, I'm enjoying your series, trying to keep up with watching them :D
Didn't look too muddy underfoot considering. Lovely atmosphere to the video
Mud levels were at a minimum which is always good :D
