There is hope, but as Valiquette said 2nd intermission, the Rangers need to go on a 9 game run starting now. The Rangers could have had wins vs Dallas and Colorado, which would have made the last 6 game a big part of the run they need. If they want to win, they need to play top D every period of every game. They have a long way to come back to make the playoffs and its only going to get tougher as the season goes on. I would focus on making this a team a stronger competitor for next season. There's a lot more work to do in getting the right players and making sure they gel together.

The rangers were never as bad as they were playing , we can compete with every team in the league in regular season terms , the problem is as a fan how do I know this team won't decide to phone it in again when their feelings get hurt next? Opinion:Rangers could not trade their way out of the doldrums - they'd have to play their way out. They may be doing just that, 11 out of 12 possible points this road trip. A month ago, the Rangers would have lost last nights game... instead of a 3 goal outburst, a flat noneffort and giving up 2 more goals....never coming back 3x - and winning. Opinion: We didn't need to trade for stars - we needed some new role players, and for our stars to play like stars. Role players often decide outcomes - and in Reilly Smith, Sam Carrick, Will Borgen that's what we now have.

The Canucks are not shopping Milsy or Petey, they are just taking calls to improve the team. Most likely the only player to move is Brock Boeser at the trade dead line or earlier.

Not sold on J.T. Miller being the solution to Rangers troubles - or confident in the Rangers making good trades. Alyssa Hope repeatedly lists him here on RUclips as a "Locker Room Cancer". The Rangers HAD Miller and traded him away - take a look back to see what a total disaster that trade was. Petterson would be far better - just never imagine any team will trade their stars for our underperformers. The guys most likely to leave in a trade are NOT our problem children. Wonder if anyone is exploring adding the Flyers defenseman Ristolainen?

The next 5 games are all very winnable, if we can grab at least 8 points out them I for sure expect Drury to make a move and push for that early playoff exit.

i'd love the idea of restocking the prospect cupboard and gathering draft picks but the Rangers are absolutely shite when it comes to handling and developing young players. Like getting drafted by the Rangers is probably one of the worst thing that could happen to a high performing kid with lots of upside.

Drury is waiting to see if they will make the playoffs with what they have….if so they will push for the cup at the trade deadline.. either way Borgen stays… team should make moves in the summer to get younger … ZiB For Rant straight up, Trade Kreider, Vesey, Reilly Smith, for a haul of players and picks.

Last bunch of games has been like watching the old Rangers. In the apathetuc slump, they were food for the cellar dwellers...now they are playing well, playing hard and sometimes defeating the best teams. Rangers cannot trade their way out of this - but they just might play their way out. Carrick should stay! Liking what I see from Edstrom and Borgen. The (often deservedly) maligned Miller and Z are making positive plays.

Let go of the dead wood and bring up prospects and maybe use prospects to make that big deal but what they have now will not bring them good trade and i am not talking prospects but prospects that they want to keep they label with a tag and whatever else they have are tradable and they cannot wait too long.

I'm re-signing Borgen for sure. He may not pile up points but he can play defense & that is more important to me. I think a lot of teams would like to pick up Lindgren at the deadline & Rangers may do alright trading him. If I was Drury I'd try to make this trade with the Canucks-- Chytil, Miller & Brodzinski for JT Miller & Tyler Myers.

Lindgren has been linked to Detroit recently but we'll see what happens on that end. I just don't really see the Rangers making any trades until the deadline. The heavy trade talks involving other Rangers have slowed down a lot. Teams have shifted there focus to the other NY team, The Islanders. Right now there are multiple reports linking the Islanders with other teams. Vancouver wants Nelson/Dobson and the Jets really want Barzal. I think Borgen's is playing himself into a contract extension with the Rangers. I can see the Rangers bring him back on a two to three year deal. The only player that I do see traded before the deadline is Jones.

Tough loss last night but if we play like that defensively every game we'll win the majority of those games. Just gotta finish some of those golden chances

Mika's contract is all but impossible to move. He's only going to get worse and his AAV is bad and his NMC is a problem. The fact that Zac Jones has become so alienated that he's essentially asked for a trade is yet another glaring indictment of how the Rangers are just incapable of developing talent. Sure we have adam fox, but he was going to be a stud no matter where he played. you look at kids like K'Andre Miller who is undeniably talented and skilled and desperate need of better guidance and coaching he is going to turn into the next Kappo Kakko and people forget how kids like Kravtsov and Lias Andersson could have been solid NHLers if not real weapons and were ruined by NYR. Meanwhile you look at kids like BRett Howden and Anthony Duclair who were shipped out for cheap and Duclair has turned into a legit scoring threat and Howden has won what, 2 Cups in Vegas? And as for Kreider...I'm gonig to say something that is going to upset a lot of people but i think it needs to be said: he's not a leader. And he holds all these records because he's compiling stats simply due to the length of his time in NY. By all rights, he should have been Captain at some point but never has. Throughout this entire miserable stretch he's just parroting platitudes and stock answers. Meanwhile you look at how a guy like Foligno handled getting pumped 6-2 during the outdoor game or how BRad Marchand (as much as i hate that guy) came out swinging with both hands and a knife in his mouth taking the Keefe guy to task...that's what the Rangers needed so desperately that Trouba never did nor has Kreider ever have either. Is he a good influence for young players? I don't see anything to lead me to believe he is. He just looks like a chill guy riding out his contract content to cash a check especially after his feelings were hurt because he got put on a bloc. Meanwhile we got a journeyman in Sam Carrick who's busting his ass for the Shield and scoring shorties and OT winners and that's a dude who's probably gone after this season if not by the trade deadline. I look at kids like Berard and Cuylle and I fear for them because they got that dog in them. Those kids hit with bad intentions and they want to go to war every shift. That's what we need. We need a team with guys who hate to lose more than they love to win. To quote a better hockey mind than mine, "They don't skate, they don't hit, they float. And worst of all, they don't hate to lose."

With the prospects like Berard, Othmann and soon Gabe. My only concern with them is durability issues. Berard and Gabe are undersized players and will probably never hit the 180 pound range as a forward. They aren't going to handle taking big hits well, we've already seen this with Berard. Othmann has had a few injuries, nothing serious but it's starting to become to trend with him. Gabe playstyle and his size reminds me a lot of how johnny gaudreau played. RIP Gaudreau. Gone waaay too soon. I still like Sykora but he isn't ready yet. He needs another two or three years in the AHL to gain more experience. BMB hasn't really impressed me this season for the Wolfpack. Only good defensive prospects that're even somewhat ready on defense are Robertson and Mancini. Garand looks ready to fill the backup roll for Igor. He's 11-5-2 with a gaa of 2.15 save percentage of .0928 and has two shutouts. In his 17 starts for the wolfpack this season.

If the Rangers are not careful, the late 80's will happen all over again. Too many bad draft picks. How many 1st round picks have resulted in top tier players ? Another issue is player development. Several seasons ago, K'Andre Miller looked to be the second coming of Larry Robinson, but he has regressed instead. Giving Shesterkin a monstrous contract when your team is aging and devolving is detrimental. Let him have a chance to win with a contender and get back assets. J.T. Miller WAS a Ranger...a number of years ago ! Now is not the time to get older and hope that you can extract from an qging star. Too late. Get younger and build properly.

The Rangers need to trade their high priced, no trade clause veterans but until Drury is no longer the GM he can’t be trusted to make the right trades. He’ll trade young talent to get an older veteran so that they can win one round of the playoffs. That’s why they will never win a championship

i am of the opinion that making a wildcard spot could be the worst outcome long term. even if they make a wildcard spot they're not making out of the first round, they just don't have what it takes. they miss the playoffs and serious changes have to be made. this team's problems are way deeper than the roster.

Unlike most other Rangers fans, I share with you a positive glass half full (as opposed to a glass half empty) attitude towards the Blueshirts. Don’t let the dripping with pessimism comments from Rangers fans bring you down, it’s just how New Yorkers talk. I found if one acts too excited in New York City, people start trying to sell you stuff. Anyway, keep staying positive about next year. And this year as well. The trade I’d most like Drury to make is Kreider to FLA for Bennett. Maybe the Rangers throw in Jones (small $$$ hit to FLA salary cap) and maybe Edstrom (whom FLA could send to the AHL for depth. The Fluoridation GM was also quoted a few weeks ago saying that he’d consider trading Bennett if unable to resign him. In addition he said that he’d let other teams negotiate an extension with Bennett’s agent. Bennett checks every box on the list of what the Rangers need. And fits like a glove, because he could play wing or center - if Chytil is injured and/or Mika is slumping.
