Defender Of The West: Episode 2
The Phantom's might was spread far beyond the walls of the Western world, being the ultimate measure of peace in the Asian region. Most Korean pilots attribute the arrival of the Phantom to being one of the many reasons North Korea hadn't dared to fight them, so they kept this legendary aircraft in service all the way up until June 7, 2024. Japan also had its own fleet of Phantoms, license-built F-4EJs from the Mitsubishi company with a later modernization package coming in the late 80s to F-4EJ Kai where they flew in service with the JASDF until 2019. A specialized air wing known as the Air Division Test Wing (ADTW) kept their Phantoms for another 2 years, seeing them retired in 2021. Au...

The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is arguably (yes, I'm biased) one of the best aircraft to be born out of the Cold War era. Being exported to almost every continent around the world, the Phantom saw a lot of action after its birth in the early 1960s. While there wasn't a lot of action in the European Theater (luckily), the Phantom was operated by the British until the early 90s, Spain in 20...

The F-15E Strike Eagle, passionately called the Mudhen due to it's darker color scheme in comparison to the rest of the Eagle family, is the ground-attack oriented version based on the F-15D Eagle. One of the most notable features of this bird is the removable Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFTs) found on the outside of the intakes. These CFTs allowed for extra range available to the jet and doubles as ...

Throughout its history, the Soviet Union was committed to making the best and most capable aircraft to dominate the Western world, which especially came into light with the rise of the Cold War. Because of this desire to be better, this led the Russians to create rather interesting design concepts if you ask me and unfortunately, not all of them were able to see the light that is a service life...

The Su-33 (Су-33) Flanker D was Russia's first conventional fixed-wing Navy aircraft designed to operate from the Admiral Kuznetsov, the only Carrier in the Russian Navy's arsenal. During the prototype stage, its designation was the Su-27K, because of its linked lineage to the Su-27 Flanker. During that time, there was a proposed and built two-seater prototype called the Su-27KUB that resembled...

The F-14 Tomcat was the first ultimate step to the 4th Gen world, bringing in Active Radar Missiles and a new modernized radar set to fit it. The US Navy used these things extensively all across the world since it was born in 1974. The Tomcat got its first taste of combat in the Iran-Iraq War with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) and was credited with the first Phoenix kill, after...

I'm not sure who will read this, but this edit is just going to be a filler one until I get back to editing, but a new one will be out soon. The OH-6 Cayuse helicopter was a vital tool to the US Army's operations in Vietnam, where they first got combat usage after a service start in 1963. The OH-6 was modified and developed further into what was known as the MH-6 Little Bird helicopter that saw...

The SAAB Viggen was a Swedish Cold War Interceptor (JA37 family), but also received ground attack variants (AJ/AJS-37 family) that were known for being able to fly low and fast, which was especially important for a 60s era fighter/bomber. It has even been confirmed that the Viggen is the only aircraft to have radar locked and caught up to a damaged SR-71 flying at extremely high speeds, just sh...

Still ranks as one of the best low-level strike platforms ever fielded… and an absolute delight to fly in DCS. Just smart enough to take the worst of the heads-down work off the pilot, not smart enough to do everything for the pilot.
Maybe it's my American-ism, but I struggled to use her in DCS (using a trial), but I will say she is an absolutely beautiful aircraft esthetically speaking
@@phantom_phlyer4The CK-37 computer definitely takes getting used to, but once you start to understand how it functions and the limitations of it, it’s remarkably easy to put ordinance on target. Out of curiosity, what was your biggest sticking point on it? I’ve been running the Viggen as my go-to platform for a while now and understand how to get the most out of her, and I would be glad to help you past whatever hurdle you hit.
@@patricksawyer9779 While I don't own the plane (used it for a trial), for me it was the lack of straightforward-ness of operating the different A2G weapon systems that you would find in an American or Russian aircraft as the knobs seemed quite confusing with labeling and there were some other things about it I don't remember, but that was the main one
Not even gonna lie, this is one of the first edits in probably ages where I out loud said "wow, both the concept and execution of this was really good" Also, the ending part had me wheezing for like five minutes lmfao
Thank you so much for the kind words, it's amazing to hear your feedback. When I was deciding what I wanted to do for an edit, this random memory from a few years ago of my friend singing this song immediately made me think of FLIR/Drones/Targeting Pods. As for the ending, it was a clip I found and felt like a good mood lighten-er in comparison to what I originally had in its place haha
F-15, the Eagle waifu ❤
One of the best aircraft to dominate the skies haha
excellent work as always, I'm just annoyed, I was gonna use this song in a video but you did it already.
Hey, that's perfectly fine. Go ahead and use it, I know yours will still turn out great. Thank you for the kind words!
And it all started with the trusty old phantom
One could argue that the Fritz X used by Germany in WW2 was the real origin point for precision ordnance, but the Phantom definitely had her hand in making it possible
@@phantom_phlyer4 The idea of precision guided ordnance was really populairised with the phantom tho

Beautifully done.
I’m glad you made the video nice and calm and really shows the beauty of the aircraft instead of heatblurs editing where it’s super fast and over the top and you just can’t enjoy seeing the aircraft and take it all in and build more hype for it I hope hearblur takes note from this video
Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm very glad you enjoyed it. The Phantom hype train's gonna keep going with another video hopefully out this coming Friday with Sunday being the latest :)

yooo is the song available?
Sorry for the lack of a real answer, but yes and no. It's from the upcoming Meteor album, I just have the file for that little teaser
@@phantom_phlyer4 oh ok banger edit btw

Duuuude, this is fire!
I really love the F111. Just a beautiful Plane and a game changer in Metal Storm. I really wish more Nations, including mine (Germany) had purchased the Aardvark, because she not only proved to be very effective in the Wars in which she was involviert, but also very versatile, which is something currently few Aircrafts are.
well at least we got the Tornado as a sort of european cousin of the F-111 and F-14. i saw one of them fly a few days ago at ILA2024. kind of crazy to think it's already 50 years old and the 111 is another 10 years older. the amount of time between the aardvark and the invention of flight is about the same as the time between the aardvark and today now.
Great work, dude. I just found your Channel recently, but you definitely deserve a sub from me! Keep up your Great work!
Hey mate, thank you so much for your kind words. I hope to keep the quality coming and a new video out soon with a different style to my normal. Thanks for the sub as well :)
The Pentagon should have just purchased both. That would have made Sense from a technological but also from a military Point of view as the YF23 could have been transfered to the Navy, and replaced the F14 Tomcat. Meanwhile the F22 Raptor would have been given to the Air Force.
While it definitely would've been a good system for the military as a whole, the F-22 alone caused a huge financial issue, so purchasing fleets of two would be detrimental haha
NightStalkers!
Definitely a scary beast in the right circumstances. Hopefull the DCS Kiowa can create a similar experience!

Cool song, big booms. Good job 👌
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed! :)
Because this is meant to be a dedication video, I want to give a huge thank you to all who played a role in this conflict, big or small. I wanted to show off as many aspects of this war as possible, from the pilots in the air, the soldiers on the ground, the sailors in the sea, down to the maintainers and weapons officers in the ground crew. Without the combined effort from all of these groups, the war would not have had such a swift ending and the devastation would've been massively increased. If you think I misrepresented or should've added something, please let me know and I will try my best to remedy that for future videos. : )
Great video dude! my step-dad was a combat medic in the Army and he fought in the Gulf War.
Ngl, I'm kinda disappointed in myself for missing the medics. I'll have to make that a priority for the future. Regardless, I thank him for his service and providing for a free Kuwait o7
As much as our carrier operations were cool, i think it’s for the best we got rid of them, even though the HMAS Melbourne proved itself to be very effective at sinking other ships Really cool edit btw, I enjoyed very much
Thank you so much for checking out my channel and I'm so glad you enjoyed. Part of me wishes that they kept at least some carrier so that maybe the Phantom would've kept a more valuable spot in the Australian military. But as they say, everything happens for a reason.
@@phantom_phlyer4 they definitely made us a more powerful military, it just seems like we didn’t always coordinate it the best, considering the HMAS Melbourne rammed 2 other ships on seperate occasions.. it definitely would’ve been cool if we had Phantoms for more than 3 years though
we need to see Dawn of Innovations but a US version btw great video good music choice
Thank you so much for the kind words! That is a really good idea though and if you have any specific American prototypes in mind that you want to see featured (barring I can find footage), please let me know and I can start compiling for the future!
@@phantom_phlyer4 well if you look up x series of US planes you will find alot of experimental planes but here are some few US prototypes that you can use yf-23, x-32 and Northrop YB-49
@@phantom_phlyer4 super tomcat-21, and VFX or I will be very angry
Oh man, I know this took a lot of work. Great job dude! 👍
At times it definitely felt like it. Longest part was definitely compiling footage cause I've had this one planned for months as I've scoured for enough footage. Definitely worth it tho since the Soviets were horrible at documenting things, so this is like gold to me lol :)
Absolutely phenomenal!
