Welcome to Wayne's World Garage! Thank you to everyone who has subscribed to this channel! My "projects" include sawing lumber on a vintage Frick model 0 sawmill, working on my 1956 Dodge Flat Fender Power Wagon, and growing BAP's. (Big American Pumpkins!!!) I do some metal fabrication and welding, and I'm learning how to operate my South Bend Lathe and Bridgeport Mill.

Are we crowding this saw on this big red oak?
Our saw blade started to get a bit warm and started to wobble a bit. Pete thinks we might be 'crowding' the saw, which is pushing the log too hard into the saw. Please leave a comment and tell us what you think.

Sawing some nice oak 2X8's on the Frick. But... Are we crowding this saw?
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.14 часов назад
Wayno saws the first log and 18 year old Cody gets to saw the second one. But... Are we both crowding this saw a bit? The saw starts getting a bit warm and starts to wobble a bit... And Tom 1 sharpened the bits today. Maybe we're trying to push these logs a bit too fast? Please leave a comment and tell us what you think.
Whoa! Where did this come from?

We're sawing some boards for Ranger Jeff, but this red oak that looked ok on the outside turned out to be horrible!

Welcome back Gary! It was great to see you today and everyone is glad you're feeling better! And, Cody saws up an oak log to make tree stakes. since it is officially November now, we don't need tomato stakes! But, a local landscaper takes tree stakes! Thanks for watching!
Why are we making tomato stakes in October!!
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.Месяц назад
We're making tomato stakes because the local tree man gives away two stakes with every tree he plants!!! So we need to get 100 six foot stakes and 100 four foot stakes. Thanks to the crew for making lots of stakes! Now it's time for me to get a steak!
Sawing some oak logs for Bob!

Our newest and youngest sawyer Cody is anxious to get his hands on the stick and saw some logs! One of our volunteers had a bunch of red oaks taken down and Alan, Tom and I loaded them up on our trailers and brought them to the sawmill. Cody is doing a fine job sawing up two of the somewhat rotten logs. But, the first one had a big spike in it. And guess what, the camera was turned off!! Thanks...
Watch your fingers Wayno!!

In order to adjust the guides for the saw it has to be running at the RPM that the saw blade was hammered for.... So this means crank up the saw to 600 RPM and adjust the hard maple guides to within a business card width of the saw blade. Thanks to Fricknjeep for that lesson!
Alan's Turn!

Cody got to saw the first two logs and Alan grabbed the third one. Sorry this video is a bit long, but yours truly sawed the fourth log. And wow was it a mess! Thanks for watching.

Today Forklift Cody saws two logs. Well, maybe they're just sticks! But, Cody is doing well. For a young man we're all happy to see him doing so well. Thanks for watching today and thank you for joining us Cody!
Laser Surgery for the Old Frick

Today Cody, Alan and Wayno each saw one of the red oak logs we snagged from Bob. Tom, Alan and I went to his house Monday and picked up three white oak trees, which frankly looked red to me.... And, we're trying something different now... Since we have three sawyers, or SIT's (Sawyer In Training) we'll each take a turn at sawing logs. Also, just for fun, check out the new laser! My gosh it work...

Gringos and their fixing philosophy
The top part will now die, the Arial roots on the ivy only hold on, they can’t take up nutrients. But it may take up to 6 months for all the leaves to drop from it. The bottom part will definitely regrow. The tree is absolutely fine. The only way ivy kills other plants is by growing out the top and smothering it from the light. It was a good ten years away from being anywhere near that stage.
thank you! I've heard the same thing about the ivy. I'll work on the roots.... It's not like it is a good stave tree, but it will be a nice tree in 100 years when this dog is long gone!
*rubbish the tree won´t die*
Do you think it is a beneficial invasive plant?
Ive never seen English Ivy that big before.
it's not too bad on this property, but some areas it is crazy!
How old you think it was...
we counted at least 25 rings!
This has done absolutely NOTHING but make a hazard tree detached from its base!
if falling ivy vines are a hazard to your health you probably should not leave your couch....
Killing one to save the other makes no sense , they've lived in harmony for a long time, Not no more : (
sadly the ivy is intrusive and not native to our area. They do not live in harmony....
Brush some full strength brush killer on the fresh cut and repeat many times.
That's what she said 😂
Let me guess .. you dont let anyone set up treestands on your massive, unused forest ? Who cares you have 500 more trees doing just fine ...
Hi Tim, We do. it is for and used by residents. We have three tree stands currently on the land. Guess again.
I say leave nature alone.
for the most part we do, but in the end if we practice good land management practices the future generation will have a very nice forest!
@@WaynesWorldGarageI'm sure you have that wisdom. All the best.
@@skpince who knows, just trying our best to be stewards of the forest!
wtf buddy cut the whole tree down with de electric saw...pussy
ha! next time,
Ivy is rhizomatous, meaning in simple terms it grows like a fungus.
I agree with that. but I can't spell rhizomatous so I didn't say it!!!
this guy is insane
I've been called worse!!
i,ve done this with ivy, but i drilled a couple hole,s in the bottom end of the ivy, & poured creosote in the hole.s, none has regrown
that would work!!
For asking a question?
??
lol, so lazy, clean the mess
next time!!
Ivy does NOT harm trees it's a preconceived idea!!
I told the dead trees that today. They disagree.
@@WaynesWorldGarage The dead trees whisperer...
let it grow all over yuor house and fences, it wont kill then either.
I have the exact arbor saw. Stijl MS 192 and I love it. Best one handed saw I’ve ever ran.
they make a great top saw!
Efeu does not hurt any tree. He is a fool!
Sorry, you are the fool if you think it does not hurt the trees.
Dude! Your voice is great! But that pink chainsaw got MY attention! I need one, i think😉✌️💞🙏
Ha! It's my wifes!
not only will that vine grow back, but that chunk you cut out and threw away will probably sprout on both ends & grow into 2 more healthy plants.
Great....
Why is your bar kicked down like that??
The saw is a top saw. Meant to be used while in a tree
ruclips.net/user/shortsW6X96a5fEH0
Ivy grows through tree bark like a parasite.
yea... the sap wood of the tree carries nutrients, so that makes sense!
I have that Ivy growing on a corner of my house. I cut the stem, and in a month the rest went brown, and could be pulled away from our windows.
I have heard, and not sure, if you cut the main root it will die within a year. We'll see!!
English ivy and English immigrant, both invasive ASF species ☠️☠️☠️
Ha! I was in Sarajevo in 1996 with the Brits, and on July fourth they celebrated getting rid of the yanks!
I wanted to see if the pink saw could do it
it does well. it probably would have done it. I'll do a vide on it.
.. kick back ON the VINE
the small saws can be dangerous! Big saws we expect it, but the little ones can't hurt anyone.... right.....
I had a bunch of English ivy get into a steep ravine/creek bottom. It choked out a bunch of the white oaks that were well over 100 yrs old. I did the same thing here, but used a small saw like that pink one (because it’s hard climbing), and I ended up burning it up before finishing them all. I must have cut over 50, with the biggest being about that size. It worked great until it died. Never had that problem with a real saw, but I guess they still have some use (just limited).
Two-hand-safty. . . for what ? . . . xD
that little guy has some torque!!
That WILL NOT kill English Ivy. Cutting it will only set it back significantly. You only gave it a hair cut. The ‘vital’ part of the vine is the root. The root in the ground is still very much alive. It will sprout new growth and eventually climb again and kill the tree. To kill an English Ivy, you must poison the living root.
rgr that. I will get rid of the root. But... we have over 100 acres of woods.... so I can only do my small part!
That "big saw" is about the same size as my small pruning saw!
it's great for small stuff! I'll do a short on my saws one day. I like the 261 the best. But the 462 is great for big wheels.
@@WaynesWorldGarage I've been out of the logging business for over 20 years now. I've no idea what they are calling saws anymore! I honestly never understood why they just didn't go by stroke and CC so you could know exactly what you had. My every day saw back then was the Husqvarna 383P which was about as big a saw as you could get but I'm a big guy too so the weight was not an issue for me.
@@oldogre5999 yea.. the 462 is a 70 cc saw. It does fine with a 28" bar, although some folks push things with 32" bars. It's very happy all day long with a 25" bar
Next time be more careful and don't cut the oak tree
maybe next time you could lend a hand.
Fascinating
thanks!
That chainsawing was as casual as buttering toast
but what about the jam!!!
You should have used Barbie's little Makita saw.
next time!
That doesn’t kill ivy, established Ivy is leeching from the tree
I was an arborist for 10 years , yea cut bottom, then climb and cut, use bar wrench to pry, gets easier further up, wear a dust mask it’s brutal .
good advice! thank you.
Way back when around nineteen hundred and ninety-five. we would over tack our saw on the hickory/oak. we slowed it down, and the wane was better and less marks... we did re-pulley the saw drive and had more torque at the same 2893 rpm with less run-out.. but we were a small outfit around 936 logs per season. We found that slower was faster, as the re-saw needed was less back in the yesteryear.. happy paneling, guys...
You did not kill it. It will absolutely come back if you don’t put any chemical on it.
I hear you!
Scars and weep wounds are the only thing that tree has now. The poor doomed bastard... rotten like the rest of america.
well that's very positive. Do you honestly think that tiny scar will impact this tree more than the ivy my friend? BTW, have you thought about moving to Somalia? They have great infrastructure and services.
Cutting into the cambium layer sure didn't help the tree. Maybe you should have tried the little saw.
next time!
cool vid, thanks for taking care of the forests.
thank you.
😂yeah, that might hurt some people
In die Rinde reingesägt, jetzt ist der Baum kaputter als vorher 🙄🤷♂️🤦♂️😫😲
nein
@WaynesWorldGarage doch
A couple of copper nails will kill it, for those without a chain saw.
good idea
That is a 13-15 year old English ivy. It has established itself enough with the bark of the tree and sucks up enough moisture, nutrients that it will happily survive this intervention.
We counted 25 rings!
Yeah, English suck! lol
Wear the safety gear man, before you even start up, minimum, boots, safety gloves, safety glasses, helmet, mesh visor. For bigger jobs, you need trousers and jacket.
Didn't cut it down 😂😂
That will survive,it has enough roots already on the tree ro live,sp you accomplished nothing!!
I accomplished something. I had fun! And, we made a video lots of folks enjoy.
