A bit over a year ago my dad survived the widow maker heart attack. The idea of losing him in just one day has taught me life needs to be enjoyed on a daily basis. Don’t leave happiness for tomorrow or next week. Next week may not come for the people you love.

my biggest fear in life is my parents passing away... i know it will come, but man. seeing your parents get older is the saddest thing in the world. and remembering when they were younger. it's just super depressing

Just lost my father this week, when you talk about the "wake-up" feeling I definitely got that. The realization also came with a deep gratitude for the time I had with him.

As an older bachelor, I still reminisce and romanticize over my first 23-24 years. All my family and friends were still around, and young adulthood seemed like it would remain indefinite. I've since learned that aging is directly related to losing those who were present, or once a part of your life. To live is to die, as they say.

When I was working there were a lot of Ph.D.s on our teams. They thought that since they had a Ph.D. in some esoteric subject, they knew everything about everything.

Higher education is not an indication of intelligence or wisdom..Education doesn't take the place of experience or wisdom..discernment goes a long way..many people have been "educated" beyond their intelligence..and old age an wisdom are not always traveling companions...thou they should be.
