It is not just income there is also the interest that each person has in the topic. In question. One may be wealthy but has only causal interest in the shooting sport so that will be content with the basic rifle that shoots well etc for all topics
I’ve been in the restaurant business my entire life. One of my most memorable moments in my career was when I was a server in a very fine dining supper club. The guest questioned me about a bottle of wine. I described the bottle very well. Then I said, “it is expensive”. It was a $2000 bottle of wine. The guest looked me in my eye and said “you don’t know what’s expensive to me”. He said it in a way that did not come off offensively. As it turns out, he was the owner of Qualcomm. A billionaire. Later that night he caught me alone and said, “in sales, don’t sell with your wallet”. He really helped my career. My point is. You don’t know what’s expensive to other people.
I witnessed my Dad make a shot on time that I thought was unimaginable. He called the shot with a H&H 22 revolver. I was so envious because he pulled it off. I have never been able to duplicate that shot. He took a common kitchen match stuck upright through the twist of a barbed wire fence. Walked back to the middle of that dirt road , one handed , shot and actually lit the match ! Never ever would have believed it, but darn sure happened! Hated to go quail hunting with him cause he drop a bird before I would even start to draw a bead. Yes, now that he's gone would love to be able to have those times back!
Part of the reason I like this channel is because you are well respected and you appeal to so many firearms enthusiast from all walks of life. Thanks for posting this video. You make some excellent points.
What's the difference between a porcupine and a Porsche? The pricks are on the outside of the porcupine! ;) Thanks for your content. I always enjoy listening to you.
I'm not a rich man. But I've been around the block a few times, and one thing I've learned is that it is worth it to buy quality once rather than buy crap three times. You end up spending the same amount either way and in the latter you're still (in the endgame) stuck with crap. If you bought quality to begin with, the total amount would be the same but you have quality instead of being stuck once again with crap for the same overall price.
I know I have a top shelf rifle! But I will never bully anyone at the range or say a mean thing about anyones setup to their face. Hech I wouldn't disrespect someone like that. I met a gentleman at the range who had a SBR with suppresser chambered in 300blk. A real rarity at the range! He really wanted me to shoot it and wanted my opinion on his rifle. So I picked up his rifle to shoot and low and behold the red dot was not zeroed.... It was bad!! It made this $10000 absolutely unusable. But I saw the punisher magaizine and he was wearing a helmet. So I just smiled, said it was great, which it was if it was set up right. But I said nothing cause he and I were in a good mood and I didn't want to spoil it. Yet I get on the internet and it's like I become a figgin wild animal. Just waiting to pounce! Something about the internet really brings out our more ignorant side... My new 2025 rule is treat people on the internet like you would treat people in person!
I heard a comment about my new truck, implying that I was "compensating". Darn right! I'm compensating for all those years I couldn't afford a nice truck.
Yeah, that's another area where people who maybe cannot afford a big new truck rationalize by just saying you are "compensating" for something. It's the same with long barreled gun or big powerful firearms, or maybe even owning firearms at all. People who do not like firearms can feel better about themselves and more mentally stable by picturing gun owners as people with low self-esteem looking for a way to feel powerful. Actually, what they are doing is "projecting" their own insecurity and possible desire for a firearm onto others. People reveal so much about themselves by what they have to say. :-) This includes me, of course; I reveal my own idiocy every time my fingers hit the keyboard, no doubt. :-)
What an honor! Not only did Hickok45 quote my comment, but he also corrected my grammar! I don’t know about that porch swing, though. It’s not exactly like my porch swing, so he wasted his money.
It’s not just about income. I”m glad I live in a country where I have choices in what I spend my money on. Some people might be able to spend $2000 on an AR, but a $600 one is good enough for them, and they’d rather spend that extra money on something else. Thank you, Free Market!
I buy according too my budget. If I cant afford a certain item I either keep saving up to buy it later or find something equivilant that works as well. It goes for many things in life so hang in there and shop wisley.
My Philosophy Hickok is: if you own a firearm that you have purchased and really don't like it. Then take it a gun shop and sell it on consignment. You lose a few $$$,but then your past all that! I never buy certain brands based on the Reviews! All of my recent purchases are KEEPERS!
Sir, like when I watched Paul, the chat is as important to me as the pew pew. I feel cozy as I did walking the woods with my grandad in the 60’s. When the rest of the US was in turmoil, we would talk about it and shoot at squirrel nests, squirrels, or rabbits. The same men (grandad, uncles, and dad) that I had hauled hay with, and milked cattle with all year was now my H45. I value all these, thank you sir.
A high quality firearm often increases in value in the long run so I usually rationalize my purchases by calling them investments. Live within your means but don’t be afraid to spoil yourself on occasion.
I don't do that to people, but on a second note I look at something and there's just certain items that I think that I don't want. If I can't have what I want and I'm comfortable with I won't buy it and if I get a chance to buy it and I can swing it. I'll wait until I can afford to buy it what I want and I have on brands. Sometimes I just don't like the names of them and I will buy it cheaper. One that I feel is better for my own reasons like the difference between the Smith& Wesson AR-15 and the ar-15, there was a difference in the barrel twist the one the nine, the one to eight and I went with the one one the eight and also I had a fix button and a little trap door on it. That's where I bought the Ruger. Not that the other one wasn't any good. It just it had stuff that I like better and thought it should be there and this paragraph got a little bit long. You have a good day tomorrow and be safe Make a long story short. If you don't like what you buy it or you're going to buy, don't buy it. Wait till you can buy it
Be happy for other folks..it's better for everyone and doesn't cost a thing..and you might just learn something. Sour grapes on the other hand is a bitter pill to swallow that leads to long term indigestion which causes unneeded stress which then causes emotional cancer that deteriorates or devours everything around it. Quality is like buying oats. If you want good oats you'll pay the market price. If you want oats that the horse has already used, that comes a lot cheaper. Also you can't put those meadow muffins back into the horse. That's horse sense for you. Is that bad advice? Neigh, neigh, neigh.,
Though I, like all others down here in the lower Comment Class of Society, can never fully empathise with the deep feelings, it is very painful to watch the people who give up their time to film themselves doing things and then upload the films to a computer server that is connected to a load of other computers struggling to deal with the frankly unsophisticated and even more frankly worthless critiques of people a bit like me but less sophisticated and therefore prone to saying things that imply an equal footing in a discussion. We need to ask ourselves why we think things and whether we should say things and, then, and more importantly, we should try to say the things that are liked by the people that we both Like and like when they explain how things really are in this world, out there, beyond and inside the Telescreen. That is what we need to do, I hope we can all agree. Even if we can't all agree, let us all agree to agree with the people inside the Telescreen who live the outside world and do things and buy things and use those things so that we don't have to. They have been down here where we are, but we have not been out there or up there where real things get put on a video, and it is rather presumptuous of us to say things sometimes that are found to be whatever they are found to be. I hope that this that I have just said is found to be succinct and helpful and sophisticated and clear. Please let me know, as long as you, too, are sophisticated like me and Like whom I Like too, or, moreover, are actually one of the ones that I like to Like.
Your commentary is indicative of a huge problem across social media. Because of that, I find too many people being apologetic for their actions and comments. I hear many comments from content creators about negative replies and explaining themselves because they know someone will insist that's not how it's done. Unfortunately, many people are simply armchair experts and just don't know how to get along. I am sure some people think, "Oh, you're just doing videos on RUclips and getting rich" and I'm certain RUclips is more than a full time job. I admire your willingness to elaborate on certain subjects such as this, but I'm doubtful you'll change many minds. You have far more patience than I do.
I don't think I've ever said anything that I would apologize for. If I did misspeak or say something I just did not mean to say, I would not hesitate to apologize, though. So many videos where I just yak about what comes to mind with no script that it's a miracle I've not really put my foot in my mouth a time or two. Could happen sometime. There will always be people who are looking to be offended and bothered by something, but if I ever DID say something terribly offensive or inappropriate, I hope I would not hesitate to apologize. I just find human nature interesting and enjoy analyzing people who might be even more odd than I am, if that's imaginable. :-)
If it works, and you are going to carry and practice with it, then you won't hear any crap from me. I know people that carry a Hi Point for their EDC. That's their business. At least they are carrying SOMETHING. The only time I run my mouth, is when I see somebody carrying a Sig, due to the proven safety issues.

@Hickok45Talks You do a wonderful job with your channel and I sincerely appreciate your commitment to the industry and everything you do.
I could have sworn I seen you wearing a cast on one of your hands?
That was on the Hickok45Clips channel. That clip is from a video about six years old.
@Hickok45Talks thanks for clarifying. Have a merry Christmas. And a happy new year.
If it works, and you are going to carry and practice with it, then you won't hear any crap from me. I know people that carry a Hi Point for their EDC. That's their business. At least they are carrying SOMETHING. The only time I run my mouth, is when I see somebody carrying a Sig, due to the proven safety issues.
you americans WISH you could have these throwing spears
I carry a Taurus 327; no one's going to be envious of me.
There's nothing wrong with you.
