    Love this lesson. Good logic about dos and don'ts. I don't have statistics to support this, but it seems to me Alcaraz's favorite dropshot play is to force his opponent deep to the duece court corner, then hit an inside out forehand dropper to the add court side. This increases the run distance for the opponent and forces a backhand return for right-handed opponents. One thing you didn't cover and I would love to see your take on, is where to move into position AFTER hitting the dropshot. If the dropshot is a great one, point over, winner, but if the opponent manages to return the shot, it's often weak. Where are the best places to be to put your opponent's dropshot return away and win the point (Tsisipas is an expert at this). BTW, I bought the Nike Featherweight Dri Fit hat to wear backwards in honor of my Tennis Tactics coach to remind me of your lessons whenever I play: photos.app.goo.gl/LS5mp7ztEdPVrcua9

    Those are pros with Hawkeyes. If you have played any tournament, you should know that anything within a feet of the baseline will be called out by cheaters, and there are lots of cheater, ranging from the ones that always cheat, the ones that cheat on breakpoint up, breakpoint down, ad out or ad in, the matchpoint cheater, the list goes on. What's waaaaaay more effective is hitting hard middle, but not that deep.

    Hi Josh, I'm 13 and I play usta L5s and was watching all your other videos. (Specificly the last one about how Sinner beat Djokovic) and tried out the strategy. It worked really well for the second and third match and I ended up losing in the final because of my inconsistansy. Both games that I lost I wasn't fully warmed up and wanted to know if you could make a video on what strategies to use when you are feeling like you're having and off day and can't hit every shot in the direction you want to. (I was hitting short and my opponent was winning at the net.) Thanks and I love your content

    • @tennistactics
      @tennistactics День назад

      Henry! Good to meet you, man! I hoped players like you would find my channel! I will put this on my list, but I have bunch of projects on my list and it takes me a while to make these videos, so hopefully you see this comment 👇🏻 Sounds like a great tournament! Congrats on getting to the finals, dude! 👊🏻 That's a tough situation and I totally know what you are talking about. I have two thoughts for you in that situation. 1. focus on big cross court targets and hitting high over the net at the start of matches like that. This is your highest percentage target and for the first 3-4 games, I would just aim deep cross court and keep it high. Higher = deeper. This is your safest shot because it's where the court is longest. To do this focus on making contact with the bottom of the ball to give it height and depth, and hitting the ball early to get it cross court. These two things will build your rhythm faster than anything else. Aim for that on every shot until you get dialed in. Don't try anything riskier, like aiming down the line until you feel you can control the ball, too risky when you're off. 2. my second tactic is mental, but really important and really tough, but its the only way out of the "off" feeling. You gotta mentally give yourself credit for every ball that goes in. It's easy to think only of points lost, but a better mental tactic is to mentally build confidence every time you hit the ball in. I don't know you, but there is a good chance that for every ball you miss, you made 2 or 3 first sometimes. Try to focus on those more than the misses. Rule of life & tennis: Whatever you focus on increases. So focus on the balls that go in and feel good about them even if you're losing points. It always works, like eventually you'll start playing better, the question is just if it will work fast enough to win the match. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. but staying positive gives you the best chance of winning the match. focusing too much on the misses just makes it harder. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Let me know what you think!

    Josh, your content is some of the best I have ever seen from a recreational player's standpoint. It's concise, to the point, and amazingly analytical. I've used your video on Sinner vs Djokovic to great effect for all my recent singles wins. I plan to be subscribed going forward. Do you plan on making any content explaining Nadal's key strategies that he soundly executes? Do you have any advice for lefty vs. lefty?

      Hey, thank you for that! I love hearing people are not only enjoying the content but also applying it! And thanks for subscribing! The support means more than you know as I am just getting started! As for topics - I will be covering Nadal for sure, I love his game and I think he is really smart. So many videos to make... so little time... 😂 And lefty tactics in general have been a common request, so that is on the list! One thing I would throw out though, I think you should focus on hitting the ball earlier, so you can target the other lefty's backhand. Lefty's have an interesting advantage against righty's because if they hit late, it goes to their opponents backhand. But if you are making contact late against a lefty, it goes to their forehand and now you are in trouble. so just something to think about, if that made sense? But I would love to do a deep dive video on this so I could explain it better...

    • @albertyu469
      @albertyu469 2 дня назад

      Well now you've done it. Knowing you're working on Nadal videos and tactics versus lefties videos, I'll have to make sure the notifications are turned on... The advice makes a lot of sense and is something I'll keep in mind the next time I play another lefty. Will let you know how it goes. I find it very interesting that Nadal has an insanely high win % against other lefties...never mind just an insanely high one in general. Really looking forward to those upcoming videos.

    Thanks. That’s very useful. The only thing I would say is that the ‘return to centre’ rule depends a bit on the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. If I realise that the backhand is not very strong for example, then it may be good to vary the placement of the return.

      Absolutely! Kind of a two part situation here, 1. knowing what tactics are out there are options, and 2. knowing which tactics you should use in certain situations. I have my own ideas around the second part, but those will come in later videos. 👀 😂

    Sinner won these matches because Djokovic isnt playing his A game at the moment. Its as simple as that. No need for analysis.

    From what you saw, do you think Djokovic was also playing a little worse than usual or did Sinner win against a 100% Djokovic?

    • @tennistactics
      @tennistactics 6 дней назад

      I think Djokovic was definitely not in top form. His unforced error count was significantly higher than normal and his first serve percentage was lower than normal. Credit to Sinner for doing a lot of things right to disrupt him and close it out, but I do feel like something was a little off that day in Novak's world.

      @@tennistactics Thanks for confirming. Not to take away from Sinner and am happy that he won the AO, but I thought the same about Novak. I hope you can do a video on Sinner vs Medvedev AO final too!

    I think that's Djokovic's AO done now, he can't win 11 nexr year, at 37 and a half, in fact, I don't think he can win any slam now, Wimbledon he has a slight chance.

    • @georgezazueta61

      He will win more and maybe he is 37 but he still performs like he is under 30, it’s impossible for athletes to win everything every year but Im sure he will win more slams

      @@tennistactics He won't win anymore, his days are done, he's almost 40, his best chance is Wimbledon this year, but he's no Federer, karma going to get him once again, he's probably not even getting to a finals at Wimbledon this year, maybe QF.
