10:22 Blinx Platinum Hits looks uglier, yes, but is actually a fairly different version of the game! it was made much easier as a response to complaints of the original's difficulty, with new enemy placements and different, lower prices in stores. Thought I would mention this :)

I have a sealed copy of Bullet Witch. I bought it at Kmart on clearance for $5 when they were getting out of the game selling business. Its reputation kept me from actually playing it, so it sits on my shelf. I should probably sell it.

I spent my entire youth watching retro gaming/collecting youtubers, I was born in 2000 and as soon as I hit the ages of 19 and 20 and had disposible income, covid and its prices hit. The hobby is almost unapproachable for someone my age and that sucks for preservation of physical media. By the the time the NES collectors die off (no offense thats how time works) no one my age is gonna give a shit anymore, except for us few who are priced out of preserving it anyway :/

I’d like to get a copy of Folklore it does look interesting but I’ve heard there’s some questionable control choices for certain actions. And there’s a version of Doom 3 BFG that has a little doom poster with the manual and i upgraded mine after i found out and all copies are usually around the same price. Unfortunately i can’t find my copy of RE Dead Aim i found the case and manual but the disc is gone. I’m not sure what happened to it. Along with my copy of koudelka for PS1 it’s gone and i can’t bring myself to buy it again right now.

I feel your pain on this. I still have some cheaper games i can get. But I’m going to have to focus on the pricier games because some of the ones I want keep up in price (feels like every week they are increasing). Some games are getting into the now or never range for me. It sucks because last generation and back a lot of games after 6 months or a year went down in price. This generation due to lower physical prints and resellers the games are only getting more expensive the longer they have been out.

This might sound controversial but my games now are mostly digital especially the rare ones, the days when I used to be able to spend hundreds of dollars collecting are pretty much over now it's 🏴‍☠️ and emulators for the most part

in 2011 you could walk into a common thrift store and get some banger ps2 games, now its all sports and random pc games, want anything worth the while? go online, pay resellers, go in store, pay resellers, the prices retro stores give for trade ins compared to their actual price tags they put on the same game is crazy stuff, retro is plain un doable anymore if you dont have deep pockets, the consoles themselves are priced like they are 8th gen consoles, and whys pokemon, a hella common game, up to 200 usd loose without anything else

I primarily collect for the switch/ds/gamecube But as of recently i've been cutting away what I don't absolutely need I've been more focusing in on jrpg/rpgs I Is stopped buying other games that I might think I want but don't tend to play any time soon I've been trying to cut back on a lot of the limited print stuff and only getting the absolute necessities.

Another great video! I am also in the same boat where it’s getting harder to find cheap games that I want. If you haven’t already, pick up Mafia:Definitive Edition on PS4 as it’s a fantastic remake of the original Mafia.

Persona 5 Strikers has a better story than Persona 5 itself in my opinion. It’s definitely worth trying out. The gameplay is more action rpg than Dynasty Warriors from my memory.

I won’t argue that light guns on a CRT are a good way to play old games. However, I have taken the permanent position of never owning a CRT again. They are big, they are cumbersome, heavy, hard to place in a lot of smaller homes, and burn out often. I threw away my CRT in 2010 and I have never regretted it.

I blame resellers they buy all the cheap games in bulk and sell them back at expensive prices hurting both collectors and game stores

I’ve definitely hit the same point in my collecting it is rare to get a game under $20 let alone of whole stack for less than $50

If you running out of cheap so now is time to buy everything over 50-100. I buy over 650+ games for ps3 in 3 months now i have same dilemma everything is over 50 now 😂

I spent $20 on bullet witch 🤦🏻‍♂️ Interestingly enough i find sometimes the super poorly made games have a quirk to them, brings a good laugh. They definitely have a place in my collection 😂

Infamous second son is great. Give that a go. However, you should play infamous first light before that one. It's an experience.

I bought a copy of phantasy star 2 for mega drive last year, it definitely smells like its been sitting in a house for 30 years because it smells of stale cigarettes...😂

I also recently picked up Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE! I spent a lot more than 3 bucks though :( $20 sealed is fine with me though. I've really been into Persona lately and when I get around to this one I get the joy of opening up a brand-new game!

Bullet witch doesn't get enough respect it's not good but it's that special jank destructible environments, cool spells, and it was developed by Caviar the Nier creators

Second Son is fun, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Looks pretty good, too. I have Mafia: Definitive Edition on Steam and loved it. I played it from start to finish in one sitting. Great game, Brother.
