A Link Between Worlds is problably an objectively better game, and honestly, it should be, releasing like 20 years after A Link to the Past lol, but for me personally they share the Top 3 spot of all the games. They are basically equal to me. However each game has one thing over the other. ALBW has the story/characters. I loved what they did with the Dark World/Lorule and it being a dark mirror of Hyrule. ALttP has the dungeons. Why not overly creative, I can't get over how BORING the dungeons in ALBW are. There is no difficulty curve at all (which, duh, since you can do them any order), so it feels like a big snoozefest. But again they are both amazing

For skyward sword i know its not a full background music thing. But any time link plays the harp.

A good list, here’s what I would put higher: Great Bay Temple is easily a top 5 for me Lakebed Temple, Palace of Twilight and City in the Sky are some of my favorite in TP Fire Sanctuary is super underrated in my opinion. And I really wish this list included Final Dungeons, because Sky Keep is one of the greatest inventions ever created.

Amazing takes across the board. LBW still has some of the finest music in the franchise-along with Skyward Sword!

If you have a problem with the difficulty in a link between worlds, try hero mode, I love taking 6 hearts of damage from literally everything in Lorule

Unironically the decorative shrub was one of the best early game echoes since I didn’t have water yet and having a single echo which allowed me to get higher than I should have otherwise was very helpful though I’ll admit I never used it once I got water

As a new Zelda fan I played oot and finished it and I just don’t feel the same as the older fans I hope they remake oot and mm so new players could enjoy it too

I thought Majora's Mask's 'Ballad of the Windfish' would be the choice! Unlike the Link's Awakening version, it's just random melodies played on the transformed instruments. Admittedly, the scene it's used for is pretty sweet, and MM is my favorite Zelda game, but it's not a great aural experience.

Have you listened to the Crown Dungeon from Oracle of Ages? I find that one to be worse than Spirit's Grave.

lttp is better to me by far. Far less tedious to 100% complete. I despise the minigames in ALBW.

Koholint being a dream is the best part! I'd even say it's the very best implementation of the usually dreadful "it's all just a dream" trope in all of fiction. It makes the ending way more emotional than it would otherwise be. Sure, it's not a fairytale happy ending, but that's exactly what makes it special. As someone who's first Zelda was Phantom Hourglass, I never minded the Temple of the Ocean King much. Neither was I put off by the touchscreen controls. What grinded my gears though was the lootbox nature of collecting ship parts. In Spirit Tracks, they apparently made each train part unique, but not in Phantom Hourglass. Especially frustrating if you got the very same rare golden ship part for the third time in a row. And yes, the best place to grind ship parts is the Temple of the Ocean King. Related to PH, my least favourite part of Skyward Sword was that they didn't use Linebeck as the ship's captain. He's an awesome character with a great character arc and it's a damn shame that he never appeared in any other Zelda game besides the DS titles. We need more Linebeck in future Zelda games.

And...I should have kept watching, because um. Holy balls. Kamaro's theme is your worst pick in Majora's Mask? That flute is high-pitched, but that's not a hardware issue. That's...um...that's a pitch issue? I actually really like this theme because it draws very explicitly from what sounds like middle Eastern roots, complete with the phrasing and the accent patterns. My worst pick for Majora's Mask is easily the theme that plays in the mayor's house when everyone's arguing. Like, what even is this piece? That said, the theme from the boat ride is also fairly uninteresting to me; not terrible, but not very good, either.

I haven't played all of these games, but wanted to comment on two songs in particular. First, the rabbit theme from LTTP. It's weird, but I don't think it's all that bad; for my money's worth, the cave theme is way more boring and less interesting. I also don't really like the dark world dungeon theme too much. Boss theme is also very, very simplistic. As far as Ocarina of Time goes? Dodongo Cavern is sort of ambient and not too interesting, but my pick for worst track on that OST would go to the theme that plays when you're doing the stealth section of the castle. It's thematically appropriate, but it's pretty damn short and basic, and sounds more like cartoon music. I'm not expecting anything awesome, especially not this early, and I know the game is meant for children primarily, but still.

I cried when I heard the Dragon Roost Island motif in the Colgera theme. Instant tears. I’m not typically a big crier but that was one of the most iconic moments of the entirety of TOTK for me 😭

You can place a water block down and then bind to an enemy and forcefully drown them. And this is a kids game. That puts it top three for me.

Really? The pink bunny theme from a Link to the Past was always fine to me. It sounded like an intro to an evening news program.

The NDS games aren't peak 2D Zelda, but they aren't that bad really.

Saying TP is lame because it's similar to OoT is like saying OoT is lame because it's similar to ALttP. OoT has more in common with ALttP than TP has in common with OoT and it's such a tired argument.

I'm quite glad I stumbled upon a fellow lover of Skyward Sword's dungeons (and also one who shares my hope that the next Zelda entry will include more dungeon-like dungeons and not repeat the mistakes of the Wild duology...trilogy...whatever one wishes to call it) I will say though...I am a certified Tower of the Gods hater...and even more controversially I'm sure, a Lakebed Temple lover. To the point I'd probably rank it second place out of TP's dungeons (with Snowpeak still at the top). I've honestly never found Lakebed confusing, and I think part of why I like it so much is that it uses water without forcing you to manuver through the water itself as much, which is usually the cause of the confusing level geometry for stuff like Great Bay, OoT's Water Temple, etc. Plus Lakebed is actually sort of...linear if the player pays attention, since there's only usually one new path with each return to the main chamber, and the game does its best to direct you there via water flow and water level demonstrations. Plus there's the atmosphere and excellent item which you mentioned! To be perfectly honest, Morpheel is the one element I'm not as fond of, since it's a bit of an overall underwhelming end to an otherwise standout dungeon. I guess Lakebed is my equivalent of your Water Temple take 😅.

i agree HEAVY w the totk choice. it depresses me & adds to me not liking the cold regions. i’ll give it credit for successfully capturing the atmosphere though. i always feel cold hearing it lol

I hate mandatory fishing in Twilight Princess, also the Spinner was underused, but I guess the intro is kinda long... It is my favourite Zelda game (even if I just finished it, despite having it for seven years), so I can't find a lot of wrong things to it. The fishing was what made me stop for four years, because the game doesn't remind you to hold the B button when reeling in.... TotK is way too unbalanced, but the points you made were the next two things. Also, Echoes of Wisdom... Does it really have something that bad? I guess the fact that the East Temple isn't a main dungeon? And... Spoilers! ...that Null was omitted until now and it generates the plot hole of "What about the other timelines?" But still, one could argue Null only matters in the Downfall timeline because of the overuse of Dark Worlds or something. Dunno.

I personally found original Great Bay Temple just as frustrating as oot water temple. I ran out of time during the boss fight the first time i played the game, and literally didn't touch the game for like 3 years because the idea is having to redo the temple was so bad. The original zora swimming got equal amounts of love and hate. Yes, the speed felt amazing swimming in open water, but going around turns in the dungeon was awful.

Hi, small critique of your placement of the giant wooden roller. It's fragile and does break after a bit BUT you can stand in one place and just spam it and take down multiple monsters in seconds if they're right in front of you. As soon as it hits them spawn another and another and another. Works great

CRAZY you didnt pick the fire temple theme from oot. the background behind it aint too great and it only kinda fits anyway. it was always super annoying whenever i played through the fire temple, and dodongos cavern pales in comparison.

I think link to the past has better dungeons, a better feeling of progression and a better overall vibe. I think link between worlds mastered the mechanics has a better story, and while I like pixel graphics I think link between worlds looks better. Overall I think I like lttp slightly better but link between worlds did make a lot of improvements and isn’t bad, I just don’t care for buying all of the key items and having the dungeons all easy enough that you can do them mostly in any order
