I apologize for the quiet sound, RUclips screwed me over on the upload. Also, Ignore that one editing error please... I'm too lazy to fix it... And for those submitting hot takes in the comments. I will NOT be using any opinions from this comment section in the next reaction video. I will make a community post asking for them in the comments so keep an eye out if you want to submit some!
imma add a hot take here bc i missed it: both Hyrule warriors games are under appreciated. while yes there is only 2 of em with 1 being cannon (Age of calamity) according to the devs, the characters, their designs, the stories. and being able to play more than just the hero of legend is so satisfying! Side note: HW young link from Majoras mask is S tier on my character list no contest.
Literally here cause the algorithm sent me to the ranked dungeon video, didn’t realise you were new, amazing job sir. I’ve now enjoyed all three of your videos and subscribed.
I really enjoy how you don't hide the fact that you haven't played some of the games fully or have only just recently done so. It feels like sometimes people who make these types of zelda videos you have made they know every game inside out top to bottom, and as a big zelda fan who still has a few holes in my game library (mainly Majora's mask and wind waker) I think it makes you much more relatable and enjoyable to watch. I really respect it, keep up the good work!
Regardless of which Zelda is your favourite, we're all here because we love Zelda all together. This is why Ryan's channel has exploded, we all feel the nostalgia and love for these games. Thanks Ryan for bringing us together.
You’re welcome, Zelda is my favorite thing ever so I’m really glad that I could find more people like me! I’m glad you guys are all enjoying the content :)
Dang, missed my chance to defend Skyward Sword's motion controls. Good to see someone else has me covered. :) ...Also, Fi is honestly one of the best companions in the series, second only to Midna.
My hot take is that Spirit Track's princess Zelda is the best Zelda in the entire franchise. She stands by Link's side from the very beginning to the very end of the game, she's got a sassy and charming personality, she fights alongside Link and isn't afraid to throw herself against enemies, and you can see the love blossoming between the two as the game progresses.
I feel like pretty much anyone who’s played spirit tracks would probably agree with this, although SS, WW and BOTW zeldas are all great as well (technically tetra in WW’s case) Unfortunately most people just. Haven’t played spirit tracks lol
That's not a hot take. That's basically a travesty that the best version of Zelda is in Spirit Tracks. Not that Spirit Tracks is... bad. But it's not so good that people talk about it very much.
I will argue with anybody that Spirit Tracks is the most underrated Zelda title. It finishes off the story of Wind Waker in such a satisfying and cathartic way. Favorite Link/Zelda as a pair, fun classic dungeons, new world to explore other than classic Hyrule, so charming and fun even if you just do the basic plot.
I agree that Ganondorf was shoehorned into Twilight Princess, but calling his fight underwhelming is crazy. TP has the best final boss sequence in the series. The only way I can see this perspective is if you only count the swordfight at the end, but that's part 4 of a multiphase battle.
I'm of the opinion that Ganondorf was always supposed to be a background character. He was using Zant as a vessel to carry out his plans without getting his hands dirty. He only got involved when Zant failed.
A Link to the Past is often considered one of the greatest games ever made, so it would be beloved by many people as at least one of the top Zelda games.
Internet pitstop said this point incredibly: Ganondorf being in Twilight Princess enhances Zahnt's character. Zahnt is weak, he pretends to be all cool and poweful and wants power but he isn't strong enough or smart enoigh to do so. All of his attacks are copied or just flailing around, his scary villain lines are super generic, and then when ganondorf arrives, he reveals how weak he is. He is someone who is willing to give up his own autonomy and serve ganon in order to get a little bit of power. Internet pitstop said it much better than my so watch their Twilight princess video to hear a well said version of this point but that's basically the rebuttal to saying Ganondorf shouldn't be in the game.
Got one for you. Fi is by far the best companion we've had in the series. She's the only one that you can ask specific questions about the puzzles in the current room, tactics against enemies, details on the enemy, your next objective, and dowse for objects. Midna is liked purely because of her lore implications, her uses as a companion are by far the weakest just being for the extra jump in wolf form and turning into a wolf. Midna has a hint feature but it's just "we should do this dungeon" button, not an actual hint system.
i agree 100%! people hate fi because she's too helpful. like, what? are you hearing yourself? that's her job, and she's damn good at it!! maybe her unprompted dialogue was annoying in the wii version, but now that the remake has fixed that, there's really no valid reason for anyone to complain about fi. she's brilliant and also my best friend
The lore aspect is much more important for a companion. I prefer to figure out the puzzles on my own, so a companion that tells you the solution, often without prompting is a huge detriment to the game.
I like Fi, especially in Hyrule Warriors I love kicking butt with her, but there is no side character superior to Midna. Fi does often get too annoying imo even more so than the infamous Navi. I like Fi as a character of the story, I don't like the way they executed her as a game mechanic.
Ryan you are an amazing youtuber❤❤❤ Its great to hear someone acknowledge the power of skyward sword's motion controls.and the greatness of a link between worlds🎉
I’ve watched some of your videos and think your one of the best zelda RUclipsrs out there! I’d love to see a part 2! Also warms my heart to see a zelda RUclipsr being nice to skyward sword, that’s my personal favorite zelda game and one of my favorite games in general, I could gush about it for hours lol keep up the great work!
@@Ryan64yt To clarification about my take. It’s not that I hate it. It was really hard for me to come up with a hot take But that was my only one that I could think about at the moment so to clarify I just do not like the dungeon that much like I like the atmosphere a lot. It’s just the actual gameplay for hunting for the Po sister, especially that one where you have to put the picture like it’s a puzzle. I don’t remember which one that is on the top of my head, but I always mess up that one. It usually takes me at least 3 attempts to get and that bottle room after you get them, I always mess up on so it’s not that I hate it. It’s just my least favorite.
@@mimxyz0 hahaha 😅 yeah, I think Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker are just peak Zelda formula. I think Ocarina of Time is just discount TP (no offense), and Majora's Mask is amazing in concept but I just couldn't get into it too much haha I liked BOTW way better too, not just for nostalgia either 😂 I made a video rambling about it if you wanna check it out but
I really didn’t think my comment would be featured, but I’m glad that you agree with my opinion of A link between worlds😭 I would love to see this turned into a series. It’s really interesting to see all of the opinions, especially the unpopular ones because even though we are all Zelda fans, we each have our own opinions and personal connections to each game! I truly think nostalgia plays a huge role when deciding which games are your personal favorite! For example, I know you haven’t played Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks, but they are some of my favorite games PURELY based on the nostalgia factor. I grew up watching my dad play those games on the Nintendo ds and it was such a surreal moment when I was old enough to actual play it and beat it by myself
Late hot takes: A Link to the Past is the best Zelda. It has a simple but memorable story, one of the best versions of Ganon easily, A very VERY good selection of items, my favourite designs of Link’s tunic and it LITERALLY DEFINED THE ZELDA FORMULA! Four Swords Adventures is Criminally underrated, despite it’s level by level format, it’s a very fun game, where you’ll easily take on enemies in the largest groups of any mainline Zelda game and has a very fun premise of fighting BOTH Ganon AND Vaati at the end, not to mention it’s the only sprite based Toon Link game that uses voice clips with The Wind Waker voice. Top-Down Zelda needs to be spoken about more, as it makes up a majority of the series. BOTW and TOTK, while I love Breath of the Wild, are both kinda overrated (especially TOTK).
100% agree with all of your takes. A Link to the Past is the best 2d Zelda for me. I had a lot of fun looking for the heart pieces, upgrades, medallions... Etc. Enjoyed Four Sword Adventures too, the bosses and levels were neat even playing alone. Still didn't played totk but Breath of the Wild is a mix of feelings for me, Love the map but not the battles, dungeons or items.
The gameplay of ALTTP is so tight, I love it. I played it for the first time 4 years ago and it was magical. I played it right after BOTW. I was stunned how good this game was as an older game. Has to be my favourite 2D Zelda.
@@veebot75 while I don't think it aged perfectly, it did an absolutely amazing job being the best Zelda it could at the time. I actually enjoy how difficult the bosses were. These days I feel Zelda bosses are all too easy, (6 year old me would be screaming at me rn, I was terrible 😂), and I think the most fun bosses you should die a few times before you beat it. Hollow Knight does a fantastic job, but I can't think of a good 3d example 🤔
@@schmaffew2343 yeah, I see what you mean, especially since the TOTK bosses can all be cheesed (ascend on Gohma, spam Sidon’s attack on Muctorock, etc.) and I literally beat fireblight Ganon in around a minute and a half around the time BOTW released.
I think one of, if not, THE main issue people REALLY have with TOTK is that 60% of the game was already explored in BOTW while the other 40% of the game consisted of new territory (the depths and sky islands) which is mostly empty and not very interesting to explore. Also, the dungeons weren’t much of an improvement from the Divine Beasts like we were all hoping they would be. I didn’t like that we had to raid Hyrule Castle as the final dungeon again, which felt repetitive.
Another thing I love about twill princess is the hero's guild at the bar, having an universe in which link is not the only hero trying to do something make so much sense it hurts me it doesn't repeat anywhere else
Hot take: Zelda 1 is in my top 5 favorite Zelda games and my favorite Zelda game on some days! No other Zelda game quite reaches that game’s incredible sense of freedom. For example, one could just casually experiment with the candle item and stumble upon the 8th dungeon because of their curiosity. Another example is upon further play throughs a player would be able to discover more about the world and utilize prior knowledge of the world to their advantage! To me, the way a player interacts with the world is so interesting! Just like A Link Between Worlds you can buy important items at any point, however, the player is given the freedom to pick whatever they want. Unlike BotW, there is much more structure to it before beating it, and if you take into account the Divine Beasts as BotW’s structure, then Zelda 1’s sense of exploration in its structure is much better as BotW explicitly tells you where to go. BotW’s secrets are often fairly small in scale and can be kinda lame, whereas in Zelda 1 it feels like nearly every discovery can completely change the way one would interact with the world. The fact that this game is so complex and dense in content for an early NES game is highly impressive! I dunno, man. The more I play this game the more I end up appreciating it. Like, sure, it doesn’t have traditional puzzles, but characters give you riddles to solve and are honestly much harder to solve, which I don’t think is bad. Because of this, Zelda 1’s dungeons are able to focus more on labyrinthian design and enemy encounters which were surprisingly deep even compared to many modern games! I appreciate a difficult game because it forces me to interact with some of the more obscure mechanics and act more creativity. I would say BotW was like this… until you reached closer to the end game, then you become to powerful and the game becomes too easy. Zelda 1 has a consistent difficulty throughout.
My hot take: TOTK's weapon creation from random objects and machine/vehicle creation is its worst mechanic and the worst mechanic to be introduced into the Zelda franchise. As a game's mechanics become more free and sandboxy, the less intentional, meaningful, and tailored the experience becomes. I hate that I can kill a boss with a stick with a rock attached to it. I hate that I can cheese a Hinox battle with some ridiculously powerful machine with flame throwers in it that kills the monster immediately. I miss more restricted yet more deep and developed sword battle, such as with TP's battle mechanics or SS's tailored motion controls, along with special items with a purpose, like the whip (in SS) or hookshot. BTW just discovered your channel and love the content!
I just started watching you today but holy as a big time Zelda fan it makes me happy that someone like you is actually able to make videos and entertain people with Zelda context. Thank you for that and I hope for nothing but success for you in the future. That being said. Hot take, twilight princess is the best Zelda game, and midnas lament is the best Zelda song In my opinion ofc.
Damn, cant believe I missed my chance to make zelda fans angry from factual takes 😂 Edit: Since people have also been posting g theirs in the comments, I wanna see what y'all think of mine. *Ahem!* I think the best version of zelda in any of the main line games is zelda from Spirit tracks. Not only is she entertaining as hell, but she is with you throughout the entire game. She constantly helps you out, be it with the puzzles of her in the armor to the final battle to just giving link advice throughout the whole story. The other Zeldas have bits and pieces of these qualities, but I feel that ST Zelda has all of the best ones combined.
I'm just glad to find a Zelda RUclipsr who doesn't glaze the heck out of wind waker. I agree with your opinion on that game 100%. it just seems like so many people grew up with wind waker and let nostalgia bias completely run their opinion on the matter.
It might just be me but the video seems really quiet in comparison to your other two videos. Still, I think its great that you interact with your subscribers a lot with this video. I don't think Hot-Take-Videos should come too often though, there still needs to be other content so the Hot Take kinda has content to discuss (For exampe: One video is Ranking every Villain in every Zelda and like two or thee videos later you have Hot Takes on villains specifically in Zelda). Also made me a little happy that you included my comment. I have a question though: What older Zelda game would you recommend for someone like me, so someone who has only played BotW, TotK and part of OoT?
I'd personally recommend a link between worlds and wind waker. They lean into a similar open air style like botw and totk but more Structured segments like past entries. Play the HD version of ww if you can tho. A certain treasure hunting section is more bearable in that version.
Don’t worry I don’t plan on making these videos come often. The opinions people submit wouldn’t be as interesting if I did do it often so it’ll be a rare thing. Originally some of the audio sounded quiet but I turned it up in the editing software and it was fine there but you’re not the first person to say that. I apologize for that I thought it was alright. I would recommend wind waker, it’s a very easy game and it’s also a lot of fun.
22:05 - the big problem with Navi is that in those moments when she suddenly tells you something without warning, you can't speed up the text like you could normally do with an NPC. This basically means that she takes you out of the game for 5-10 seconds.
I now caught up on your older videos. Though there weren't many yet, that made it all the more impressive that they're this good tbh! I just gotta skip the tears of the kingdom bits, because I still haven't beaten it (I gotta get on that), so I'll save the current newest video for after that too. But for real keep up the good content, I love the way you present yourself, both narratively and visually with the content on screen :D
My few hot takes: The Divine Beasts were better than the dungeons from Tears of the Kingdom besides maybe the Lightning Temple. They were underrated and under appreciated especially from a lore perspective and the entire overworld was basically centered around them and they had unique structures. Lakebed Temple is the most underrated dungeon in the entire series. The sailing in Wind Waker is the smoothest form of travel in the entire series. Guardians were better than gloom hands as they were scattered all across the land and took on many different forms.
........... I would argee with this one besides I think the wind temple was better. You have great point about the lore and overworld. The water temple is totk especially didn't feel like a flipping attached to zora's domain. Gloom Hands are hit or miss to be. Basically they become piss easy to deal with the longer range you detect and looses there epic eldritch horror factor with distance. TBH, it was a missed opportunity to not have them as a patrol enemy in the depths mazes.
Agreed with most of these, I do think that most of the TOTK dungeons are better then botw Devine beasts but some are easily worse and I don’t mind the lakebed temple but I would definitely pick something else for the most underrated in the series
Sailing in wind waker HD is the best in the series. In the original game its a little clunky without the swift sail tbh (no worse than other games though)
Just came here to say that your videos are so good, I couldn’t believe when I clicked on your channel to discover you only have 3 videos so far and are a brand new channel. Seriously man, everything from the thumbnail to the sound quality to the commentary is fantastic. As a huge Zelda fan, I’m really happy to see another Zelda RUclips channel pop up and am very excited for more of your content!
"I think tears of the kingdom is a way better game than botw" I FOUND MY PEOPLE!!! YES!!! I don't get why everyone hates TotK now. it's a much better game
I think that Ocarina of Time might be my least favorite 3D Zelda game. Not because it's bad, but I feel like the games after it improved on the formula in some way that makes oot feel a bit outdated. Kind of like how people compare totk to botw.
Subscribing to see that “how years of the kingdom could’ve been better video” personally I think it could’ve been amazing if they truly treated the depths and sky islands as brand new maps and used them to recapture the exploration experience from breath of the wild and gave them exclusive biomes and enemies, and bosses
Great idea for a video, I really enjoyed it and it's nice to know I am not the only one who loves Link Between Worlds (I recently played it again). I didn't mention this in your 3D Dungeon list since it's a 2D dungeon, but Swamp Palace is one of my fav dungeons and easily my fav Water themed Dungeon. At times it felt like I was on a water ride lol. Anyway, I do hope other 2D Zelda games get the 2D-3D treatment like Link's Awakening and the upcoming Zelda game. I never played those 2D Zelda games because the gameboy's screens were 2 small for me to play on.
This channel is a hidden gem! I am really excited to see what's to come in the future, and because of your content I might get back into zelda games since I basically have all summer and over the years I forgot how much I appreciated some of these games from my childhood, as well as their music
Sidon’s ability does have another use. I’m currently replaying totk and when you’re in the death mountain area of the depths, his power can help cool you down and when he charges up again, you can use it again. This also works in the gerudo desert too during the day and it can be used in the caves of death mountain on the surface of the map
finally someone that agrees with the skyward sword motion controls making the game fun like I got excited whenever I fought a lizalfoes or another enemy with a weapon
It really is crazy that you just appeared out of nowhere giving us some of the most entertaining Zelda discussions on RUclips. You mentioned TOTK being disappointing, and I've actually thought about this for a while. I do adore TOTK, and it's easily one of my favorite games of all time, something it has to compete with quite a few other Zelda games for, but I also can't help but feel like it had so much potential that went untapped. I would say TOTK's biggest strength is also its biggest weakness, and that is how much focus there was on Ultrahand and the other abilities as well as the interactions you can have with them. It really feels like most of the development time went towards making building and using contraptions work as seamlessly as possible, and while that is an amazing feat that does IMO make it alone make TOTK a worthy sequel to BOTW, it's also one of the only things that does so, with almost every other major feature looking monumental but feeling pretty half-baked. I love being able to build wacky contraptions in TOTK, and the game does go pretty far in ensuring that you have a legitimate reason to do so, but I feel that also can take away from exploration despite the potential it had to do the opposite. While the Surface in TOTK is better than it is in BOTW, it's not going to give you that sense of "wow" you got in BOTW if you've already played BOTW, so having a bunch of crazy new ways to explore it feels more like the game is just giving you a streamlined way to traverse the overworld since it knows you're going to spend less time getting accustomed to it. Meanwhile, the Depths and Sky both feel like they were designed entirely around you having Ultrahand, so they tend to consist solely of sparse, uniform areas of interest separated by something that makes normal traversal difficult (be it air, Gloom, enemies, or darkness). As such, both the Depths and the Sky feel more like checklists after a while. Caves can be a nice change of pace for the Surface, but they're obviously bound to more limitations than the Sky or Depths, with it really feeling like the Depths are just a grander form of the Surface's caves in many ways. All of this goes for much more than just exploration too. Fuse is an amazing mechanic, but it really just becomes a new form of weapon and resource management after a certain amount of time. Even the story and temples look really good at first but end up feeling too derivative later on. Really, a lot of the game feels like the team simply set out on remaking BOTW with all their current experience, overhauling just about everything to make it the best form of itself but in the process being bound by certain ideas and philosophies that kept them from adding entirely unrelated features that would have fit extremely well into the game. If I had to come up with a solution, I think there are a few key things I think would work: 1. Increase enemy variety - BOTW was able to make a few types of enemy work well, and TOTK did expand on both enemies and enemy types quite a bit, but I don't feel at all that the increase in enemy scope was nearly enough to both revitalize an old map *and* introduce two more. One easy solution would just be to add Gold enemies back, though they would probably have to be sparse enough to be a challenge you seek out rather than an even more tedious variety of silver enemy. Beyond that, it would have been really cool to see traditional Poes return as an actual enemy, and I feel an amazing way to do this would be by rebranding them as "Poe Collectors", ghastly remnants of previous people commissioned by Bargainer Statues to collect Poes who ended up losing their way and now rely on the spiritual energy of Poes to keep their own spirits tethered to this world. They'd be found in some of the abandoned structures that litter the Depths and drop a bunch of Poes as well as their lantern upon defeat, giving you a reason to actually return to these areas. It would also be amazing if you could find and fight Skull Kids near the Great Deku Tree Depths. For the Sky, it would be cool to see Sky Octoroks return as a way to put more traditional enemies into the Sky, with them holding up platforms with said enemies but also with valuables. As well as that, some of these platforms could be patrolled by either Kargaroks or Aeralfos, giving you an enemy other than the basic Aerocuda and occasional Keese to worry about that can actually fight well in the sky without using projectiles. Finally, just adding Stalfos to the Surface at night are based off of soldiers lost during the Calamity would really help drive home that darker atmosphere. 2. Make weapon and shield fusing more meaningful - I feel one of the main things holding back weapon fusion to be that all materials that don't pop give the same durability, and destroying and refusing something onto a weapon doesn't give any of that durability back. While I don't think there should be a massive change in durability between items, it would make a lot of sense for items like Amber and Diamonds to maybe give more durability to justify actually fusing them to things, and adding a few more lower-power items that give more durability would better allow you to choose between damage and durability. As for unfusing, I think it would make the most sense to simply separate it into three pools. Instead of just getting +25 durability from fusion, the weapon and item would have their own separate fused durability pools, like +10 for the weapon and +15 for most items, with the weapon's fused pool draining first but then it alternating between the weapon's base pool and the fused item's pool at a rate so that they reach 1 durability at the same time and break together on that last hit). With this, you'd see diminishing returns after fusing more than once but would still get something of value, giving you an easy way to keep using a weapon if you really want to. As for breaking items apart, that could remain untouched for the people who really want their items back, just like in the basegame. For shields, I think they mainly could benefit just from more special interactions when fused with Zonai devices. 3. Overhaul the Master Sword - The revitalized Master Sword feels no different from the one in BOTW, and I really feel that it could be made to feel stronger in a way that wouldn't break the game. This could be pretty simple too, lowering the base power of the Master Sword (maybe by 10) but giving it infinite durability, meaning it will never break but will also seldom ever be your strongest weapon. Then, when fusing, the fused item can break on its own based on its own durability (or just 25), meaning you'd also get more diminishing returns out of fusing durability-wise but would always have something to fuse to. Then, the base Master Sword can just still increase to 60 in the presence of Gloom to keep feeling strong the Sword of Evil's Bane, maybe also chipping away at the fused item's durability less when doing so. 4. Add more Sky Islands like the Great Sky Island - The Great Sky Island is one of the best areas in the game and feels so much better than the Great Plateau, but it's the only area like itself we see in the Sky. Literally just adding a few more chains of larger Sky Islands with a lot to explore would make the Sky feel 10x more alive than it currently does. 5. Add more variety to the Depths - This really doesn't even need to be all that much. Giving one or two new biomes with maybe a little bit of new wildlife (or even just like Guays) would go a very long way. Beyond that, it would have been great to see one new village of some type in the Depths, and the Subrosians or Mogma could both have fit in perfectly. This would give some peaceful life to the barren Depths and thus also give you a reason to want to actually light them up, as now there is a people to save down there and maybe even the potential for them to begin to explore reclaimed areas, making the Depths more alive without compromising the initial hostility of exploring them. It would be cool too if they were a mining civilization and thus could forge you new weapons untouched by Gloom, either old ones via obtainable weapon blueprints or entirely new ones. On the topic of new villages, I feel there was a lot of missed potential in regard to Hyrule Castle Town. While Lookout Landing does get more lively over time, having a specific quest to rebuild the core of Castle Town would have been much better than just rebuilding Lurelin. 6. Acknowledge the previous game more - While it makes sense to not constantly remind players about a game they might not have even played, making Link just a little bit more recognizable and showing the remnants of a few more bits of Sheikah tech would go a very long way. 7. Add more Shrine appearance variety. I feel that this would be a massive improvement without even needing all that much to be done: having the Shrines look like they're surrounded by some blurry corruption of the overworld around it, resembling the Silent or Sacred Realm (or even better, the Ghostly Ether), would allow each Shrine to have its own appearance based on its actual surroundings while also providing a sense of beauty you wouldn't get from said actual surroundings.
As i said in the video, I might do a video talking about some TOTK issues and nitpicks I had with the game and how they could've improved it. But this was really well said you're a great writer!
I've yet to comment on any of the videos, but I'm loving the stuff you're putting out, and it's perfect for me as I've recently gotten in to Zelda stuff
Well you’ve come to the right place! Feel free to comment on anything I put out there, I love chatting with my community :) I really appreciate the support
The worst part about finding brand new cool RUclipsrs is that I can’t go back and binge your old content :( looking forward to everything in the future though!
I swear your videos get better and better every time!! You're literally on PBG level. These takes were crazy I was shook when they said they didn't like the forest temple
12:20 Another reason I would agree with this is just by looking at how the head pieces for Link’s armor section are made. Link has grown a considerate amount of hair since BotW, notably in the back of his head, and his ponytail is gone (and I mean GONE, since you have to find it in Zelda’s well). However, every single armor piece that was also in BotW uses Link’s old ponytail with obviously much less hair, which just feels weird. It’s obvious that the devs just reused these models from the old game, which is a shame since I like Link’s new haircut a LOT more than his old one. I saw this from a comment by someone, but I think it would be really cool if the hair band found in Zelda’s well was toggleable for those who prefer his old hairstyle. I understand it would be tedious to model this for every head piece, but it would make those who appreciate how Link looks a lot happier.
Dude I love your channel so much, thank you for giving us such fire content. Also to add my own hot take: Fi is not that bad. She can be annoying sometimes but she’s a very cool character and helps add to the mythic element of Skyward Sword
This is some wholesome content that RUclipsrs haven’t been putting out in the longest time. Keep up the great work buddy. Brings me back to my old days on RUclips looking this stuff up at night after finishing up a long school day!
I was thinking about the depths and sky in TOTK ad i had a few ideas. I think it would be cool if they added ruins of the OOT adult dungeons, similarly to how lon lon ranch can still be found in hyrule field. It would be pretty sick if they were mini dungeons also instead of just being abandoned. They can serve a purpose similar to the gerudo hideout that is necessary to get to the spirit temple, and beneath the well to progress through the shadow temple. It would really compliment some of the dungeons in a sense that if you wanted to make the water temple a bit more fun, the developers would make it mandatory to stop by the abandoned water temple and get the hookshot to progress throughout the sky islands.
People are hating on Phantom Hourglass without even giving it a chance. Whenever someone tries it, they try it with a bad mindset, thinking about how everyone says it’s bad. The ocean temple is pretty fun and each time you get a new weapon it eases your way trew the ocean temple. The way you can control the boomerang, bombchus and other items is amazing. The story is amazing. People are overhating it
I was shocked when I found out this was your 3rd vid since the quality is elite. Stuff I’d see from guys like Zeltik, you’ve earned a sub from me, keep up the good work!
That last take is super hot. I still think Link to the past was much than LBW. Had better pacing, items had to be earned In dungeons and not in a shop. Just has a darker feel. Id I think it’s in the top 3 Zelda game. I put it over majoras mask only slightly
The first guy prepped, cooked, and served. 100% agree with him. Twilight Princess is the greatest game to ever exist and has remained that way for a decade.
Today i finished playing oot for the first time and it took me a few weeks to beat but it seemed pretty easy and oot is one of my favorite zelda games now😄
Based on what he is saying about what he likes about different Zelda games, I think he will enjoy ages a lot more than seasons as long as he goes into it expecting something different and deeper. As much as the pick up and one for me that I have replayed more ages was by far the better overall experience, and obviously the better puzzler.
Fun video! I'll have to get my spicy takes in order for if there's a future part 😁 Glad to hear you're playing through the Oracle games, for what it's worth I do think Ages is the superior game as it has a bigger focus on puzzles and the dungeons are a bit more creative (but that said, some of the bosses in Ages are reallyyyy not good), looking forward to the next video!
There will be a future part so keep an eye out! I’m looking forward to ages since I’ve always been more of a puzzle over combat guy anyway. Seasons definitely has some flaws but I’m definitely enjoying it
Great video! If I had a hot take it’d be that I don’t really like Botw or Totk. They don’t feel like Zelda games to me, I hate crafting systems and durability systems, and I especially dislike Totk how no puzzle feels like it has an actual solution. The solution is “how badly can I cheese this” Botw was better, I actually finished it and enjoyed the shrines. Totk got returned
I know that Ryan is not reacting to hot takes anymore, but I have to say it. (Also, good job on the videos! the fact that you have 3.7k subs and 4 videos is amazing. I have some issues with Ocarina of Time that make it less enjoyable for younger players like me. The movement feels clunky, and the aiming is not great. Newer games have fixed these issues. I was disappointed because of these issues. Gameplay-wise, Ocarina of Time did not age well. However, I do understand that Ocarina of Time was revolutionary for its time.
At 14:28 you say you wish they made a way to repair your weapons in TOTK… and they did! You let a rock octorok chew on it and spit it out. It may even gain a new special trait like increased attack or durability. There are something like 25 in the game all (I think) in the Goron region. Each one can only repair one weapon, but if you kill them right after and wait for the blood moon they respawn and can repair again.
@@Ryan64yt that true for BotW. In TotK they made it so they repaired weapons. Probably to throw players a bone after negative feedback to the weapon breaking system.
I know you're not using hot takes right now, but I thought I'd share one. I dunno if I would consider this a hot take because I genuinely don't know if anyone has considered it ever. I would like to see a Twilight Princess sequel. I have so many ideas for how they could do it and would really love the chance to experience a new story in this world, maybe be reintroduced to Midna, have their dynamic be fleshed out more, have more of a running plot within the Twilight Realm, maybe have Link able to transform at will with new powers. Heck, I would love to see the lingering mental effects the events of the first game had on Link. I get that something like that would be a big-ish departure for the franchise and probably not something others care about, but I think it would be very interesting, potentially for that very reason. I would even probably tie more of some Ocarina of Time lore into the story. Side note, congrats on your channel's success. I only just stumbled onto it, but 1k subs after only a couple posts? You're clearly doing something right. And now 6k for 11 videos. Nice.
Hot take (or hot theory): The timeline merge implied by BOTW lore details (Zelda referencing all three timelines depending on your voice language etc) is not only justified within the lore, but multiple games in the timeline actually take place during the process of the timelines merging. Four swords adventures features parts of the adult timeline, like the helmorok king, despite being in the child timeline, and Zelda 2 features a flooded Hyrule with large amounts of water, which could be parts of the adult timelines Hyrule merging into the downfall timeline.
My Hot Take: As much as I love BotW and TotK, open world games are not Zelda's strong suit. I fully heartedly believe that they reached the top of their game with Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. This doesn't mean that those are my favorite games in the series, it just means that the world and level design were at their peak. To me, it's so hard to even compare the two switch games to any other Zelda game because they just don't feel like Zelda games to me. I don't like that fact that you can just skip certain dungeons, areas, and even main story quests. I want to have to experience all of the main story before I can beat the final boss. I also want to be blocked off of an area until I get a special song or a special item that that area requires. I want it to feel like a puzzle I'm trying to solve because that's what made me fall in love with Zelda in the first place.
Forest temple is literaly the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Ocarina of Time, and is the thing that usually makes me want to replay the game.
Just wanted to let you know, Oracle of Seasons gets MUCH better right after the level you just completed! One nice thing about Oracle of Ages is the dungeon quality is much more consistent. I will say, the next 3 dungeons in Oracle of Seasons is (in my opinion) one of the greatest runs of dungeons in the series. Maybe just me though 😬😅
Coming across this video to hear some pretty interesting stuff, but bar none I think the one that shocked me the most was the notion of Winder Waker at the end. If I had to compare things one to one, I'd have to say that Wind Waker has more enjoyable dungeons, significantly better combat, and an general narrative that I put past Twilight Princess. I know you'll do a community post at some point but to at least mention it, TP has very loose and easy combat that only becomes difficult when you have enemies who are the one false complaint Egoraptor had about Ocarina of Time. You sit and wait. Which wouldn't be so bad if it didn't invalid most hidden skills because they're actually optional. It also felt far too easy to cheese the finale with just a quick draw against beast Ganon and 5 super spin attacks against the Dorf himself, but that's more of my bias based on very niche experiences in my playthrough. That said, it's the only game that felt underwhelming to 100% because of the limited exploration, has far too many points that I'd rather not replay (too linear) and as mentioned prior kind of sidesteps their interesting villain for a shoehorned Ganondorf. Wind Waker feels like a sequel, Twilight Princess feels like a mistaken remaster, which sounds brutal for sure... both are beautiful games mind you, but I just can't get past how much more fulfilling WW is to progress through, especially thematically with Link not being chosen by any goddess.
11:00. I was excited to have another zelda content creator as i listened to so many and watched so many videos from top creators like zeltik, triforceowners, commonwealthrealm, banditcrewgaming, and you were on that list. BUTTTTTT, after watching one video and getting excited that this is a seasoned creator based on good content, well spoken, and blunt opinions, i found out that was the only video you had and was dissapointed. You are going to grow so much with the type of content you create. And i will be there for the ride along. Make more videos faster 😅
I'm curious to see your opinion when you finish through Oracle of Ages. And I'm not sure but I hope you got through ALTTP. I hope you channel blows up brother.
1. Out of Order Story: The game allows you to find key story elements, including the ending, in any order, which can spoil the story. 2. Puppet Zelda: It’s revealed that Zelda is actually Ganon in disguise, but even when this is known, Link can’t act on it. 3. Repetitive Cutscenes: The cutscenes with the Champions are identical for each Champion, leading to repetitive storytelling. 4. Fuse Ability: As someone who isn’t very creative, I tend to use only the basic functions of the Fuse ability.” I feel like it was easier in breath of the wild to traverse and felt more like a choose your own adventure. That’s great! But if you follow the exact same story formula, then tears brings dissapointment. So if the new abilities (other than ascend), aren’t satisfying, the story mechanics aren’t up to par, then what’s left? Combat? I’m not playing that long to play the same game, I should have just watched the cutscenes in order on yt. My only other gripes are that Nintendo doesn’t want to fulfill the needs of theorists, so they’re giving up on making everything connect and make sense. That too is dissapointing. Thought I'd add that as the end of your vid had wasted potential, the two newest games have so much more wasted potential lore-wise.
My hot take: I'd like to see a remake of Adventures of Link. I think a fresh restart on modern hardware could make it good. Imagine smoother controls, better graphics/art direction, and a more streamlined UI and magic system. I think side scroller Zelda has real potential.
I apologize for the quiet sound, RUclips screwed me over on the upload. Also, Ignore that one editing error please... I'm too lazy to fix it...
And for those submitting hot takes in the comments. I will NOT be using any opinions from this comment section in the next reaction video. I will make a community post asking for them in the comments so keep an eye out if you want to submit some!
if i find it do i get a cookie?
I didnt even notice it bro
imma add a hot take here bc i missed it: both Hyrule warriors games are under appreciated. while yes there is only 2 of em with 1 being cannon (Age of calamity) according to the devs, the characters, their designs, the stories. and being able to play more than just the hero of legend is so satisfying! Side note: HW young link from Majoras mask is S tier on my character list no contest.
@@giganticmoonyou might even get two!
@@MrMazingmeI’ve actually never played them before but they look like a ton of fun. I gotta give it a try
This guy really showed up outa nowhere and blessed us with some of the best Zelda content on the platform, let’s get this man to 1mil!
I try my best for my viewers! Thanks, I really appreciate it!
true, the video is amazing!
Lets fricking do it and ryan is my favorite youtuber i like when people rank stuff for some reason
Literally here cause the algorithm sent me to the ranked dungeon video, didn’t realise you were new, amazing job sir. I’ve now enjoyed all three of your videos and subscribed.
For real
I really enjoy how you don't hide the fact that you haven't played some of the games fully or have only just recently done so. It feels like sometimes people who make these types of zelda videos you have made they know every game inside out top to bottom, and as a big zelda fan who still has a few holes in my game library (mainly Majora's mask and wind waker) I think it makes you much more relatable and enjoyable to watch. I really respect it, keep up the good work!
No point in lying when I don’t have much recent experience with a game 🫠
You HAVE to play majoras mask and windwaker imo they are one of the best games in the franchise (windwaker is my favorite)
Honestly, that lack of experience explains how he can enjoy totk, braindead behaviour
Fr
He deserves it these videos are amazing so far
Dang, missed my chance to defend Skyward Sword's motion controls. Good to see someone else has me covered. :)
...Also, Fi is honestly one of the best companions in the series, second only to Midna.
personally i dont mind fi but i put midna and tatl above her
My hot take is that Spirit Track's princess Zelda is the best Zelda in the entire franchise. She stands by Link's side from the very beginning to the very end of the game, she's got a sassy and charming personality, she fights alongside Link and isn't afraid to throw herself against enemies, and you can see the love blossoming between the two as the game progresses.
Yeah Spirit Tracks! The game I've definitely played!...... (I've never played it before..)
@@Ryan64yt boo 😪
Even saying "part 4" should be enough to convince people, the fight sequence was literally and figuratively epic.
Never thought about it that way, great analysis
Please Keep This Idee as an Series, i think its one of the best ways to interact with the Comunity. Very fun to Watch too 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Agreed! I love interacting with my community so I’ll definitely make more in the future
I agree, only helper character that actually helped me as a kid😭 and the wii remote battery notifications were lowkey helpful
i agree 100%! people hate fi because she's too helpful. like, what? are you hearing yourself? that's her job, and she's damn good at it!! maybe her unprompted dialogue was annoying in the wii version, but now that the remake has fixed that, there's really no valid reason for anyone to complain about fi. she's brilliant and also my best friend
Ryan you are an amazing youtuber❤❤❤
Its great to hear someone acknowledge the power of skyward sword's motion controls.and the greatness of a link between worlds🎉
Thanks! Those are 2 games that I’ll defend til my final breath
Skyward sword hate makes me sick, that game rocks. And thanks!
I can't believe how few people have played Minish Cap! Underrated for sure.
A Link Between Worlds was the first game over the 3-4 years before that that I actually finished and kept playing. Such a fun and engaging game!
I love that game so much
I agree with Ryan64’s take that Between Worlds is a Top 3 Zelda. My 3 favorites are:
1. Ocarina of Time
2. Breath of the Wild
3. A Link Between Worlds
Nates opinion on totk I 100% agree with. After beating totk I'll probably never go back to it. But I can see myself coming back to botw
I can’t believe I appeared I didn’t expect it. Thank you so much for putting me in
of course🙏
I love your username, it's peak.
I cannot really describe why but your videos remind me so much of the RUclips I grew up with back in the day (in a good way). Keep up the great videos
I take a lot of inspiration from older Zelda RUclipsrs so that could explain it
Hot take skyward sword is better than totk
And yeahh i’d love to see a video on your opinions on why totk is disappointing those type of videos are my favourite ngl
Based opinion. Totk is kinda mid tbh 😅😅
@@rpgranked for reall compared to other 3d games its SO bad
@@mimxyz0 hahaha 😅 yeah, I think Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker are just peak Zelda formula. I think Ocarina of Time is just discount TP (no offense), and Majora's Mask is amazing in concept but I just couldn't get into it too much haha
I liked BOTW way better too, not just for nostalgia either 😂 I made a video rambling about it if you wanna check it out but
@@mimxyz0 Echoes of Wisdom looks like a perfect middle ground between TOTK and traditional Zelda tho, hopefully they don't biff it 😂
I really didn’t think my comment would be featured, but I’m glad that you agree with my opinion of A link between worlds😭 I would love to see this turned into a series.
A link between worlds love is always appreciated 🙏 might be nostalgia driven but honestly I don’t care, I love that gwme
Don't agree with the first one but I respect it, It paved the way for the Zelda series to come and definitely deserves its flowers
Man’s appeared and just started dropping bangers
Only the best for my viewers 🙏
Can’t go wrong with the OG !
Bro you are the goat. I’m so stoked to watch you grow. You got this!!!
Thanks :)
Damn, cant believe I missed my chance to make zelda fans angry from factual takes 😂
Edit: Since people have also been posting g theirs in the comments, I wanna see what y'all think of mine. *Ahem!*
I think the best version of zelda in any of the main line games is zelda from Spirit tracks.
Same I’m pretty salty 😂
Make sure to keep an eye out in my community tab when I eventually make another one of these videos so you can submit your own 👀
Right lol, like breaking the glass and finally telling them that, no, botw and totk aren't the best games of all time 🙃
@@BusinessSkrub HARD AGREE
Not me writing it instead of in... IN all serious ty for including my hot take in the video!!! ❤
Lmao don’t worry I figured out what it meant. Of course, thanks for submitting one!
Thanks I really appreciate it :)
My few hot takes:
The Divine Beasts were better than the dungeons from Tears of the Kingdom besides maybe the Lightning Temple.
Thanks I really appreciate it!
"I think tears of the kingdom is a way better game than botw" I FOUND MY PEOPLE!!! YES!!! I don't get why everyone hates TotK now. it's a much better game
TOTK hate has become a bit of a trend recently…
I like TOTK SLIGHTLY more than BOTW, and this is coming from a long time Sheikah fan.
I hate the zonai tho, they're stupid. Rauru did just kind of grab link and throw him into a room in the sky.
Did realize you have just a few vidoeos out man! GREAT job with the work, awesome vids, love watching 💪🏼
I think that Ocarina of Time might be my least favorite 3D Zelda game. Not because it's bad, but I feel like the games after it improved on the formula in some way that makes oot feel a bit outdated. Kind of like how people compare totk to botw.
Fair enough, OOT is my favorite because I'm blinded by nostalgia....
@Ryan64yt I feel the same way about Wind Waker because of nostalgia. Even though Twilight Princess is superior in many ways.
@@Ryan64yt That's the problem. Your blinded with nostalgia that you couldn't recognize OoT has flaws.
Subscribing to see that “how years of the kingdom could’ve been better video” personally I think it could’ve been amazing if they truly treated the depths and sky islands as brand new maps and used them to recapture the exploration experience from breath of the wild and gave them exclusive biomes and enemies, and bosses
In my opinion the minish cap is the most underrated
Valid
I agree 100% I wouldn’t say it’s the absolute best zelda game, but it definitely is the best that doesn’t get recognized
@linksapprentice726 agreed. It's not the best, but needs more recognition.
I’d say oracle games are.
Unlike minish cap, it’s not treated as a cult classic.
In fact, barely anyone talks or even knows about them
Great idea for a video, I really enjoyed it and it's nice to know I am not the only one who loves Link Between Worlds (I recently played it again).
Give them a replay, you’ll get hooked again. Trust me. And thank you for the kind words it means a lot :)
Made the game a lot more immersive that's for sure
If I had to come up with a solution, I think there are a few key things I think would work:
The tone and presentation in Twilight Princess really hit that sweet spot for me. I've been longing for something like that again.
Great game, one of my favorites easily
I've yet to comment on any of the videos, but I'm loving the stuff you're putting out, and it's perfect for me as I've recently gotten in to Zelda stuff
Well you’ve come to the right place! Feel free to comment on anything I put out there, I love chatting with my community :) I really appreciate the support
The worst part about finding brand new cool RUclipsrs is that I can’t go back and binge your old content :( looking forward to everything in the future though!
Give me a few years and you’ll have plenty of content to binge :)
I love this! Do more of it❤❤❤❤
Thanks! It’s on the list
I swear your videos get better and better every time!! You're literally on PBG level. These takes were crazy I was shook when they said they didn't like the forest temple
I love PBG that’s a huge compliment. I aim to improve as much as I can each time. I know right? Weird take…
12:20 Another reason I would agree with this is just by looking at how the head pieces for Link’s armor section are made.
Ugh, your opinion on the greatest Zelda game ever, LttP is making me seriously reconsider my subscription! 😅
Sorry man…
Everyone get this guy to 1 mil this is the first video of him i watched and i loved it
1 mil??? Maybe one day… let’s work on 10k first lmao. I appreciate it man :)
@@Ryan64yt np
Fusion alone makes it impossible for me to choose BotW over TotK. It does so much to encourage combat and make weapon durability more engaging.
I got way too excited when I heard the Subrosia theme at 15:09.
Such a fire song
Dude I love your channel so much, thank you for giving us such fire content.
Also to add my own hot take: Fi is not that bad. She can be annoying sometimes but she’s a very cool character and helps add to the mythic element of Skyward Sword
Agreed, might be because I played the switch version but I never found her to be annoying at all, and thanks!
Please continue this series. This was excellent!
I definitely will in the future :)
My fav part of the Oracles is the hidden final boss which few people have seen and has a killer fight and OST.
Man i already love this channel! Love your takes! That comment on forest temple being the worst... Who let bro cook lmao
Yeah that was an interesting take…
This is some wholesome content that RUclipsrs haven’t been putting out in the longest time. Keep up the great work buddy. Brings me back to my old days on RUclips looking this stuff up at night after finishing up a long school day!
Thanks man i really appreciate it! Glad I could bring you back to your childhood, those were the best days ....
Subbed after the first take where you recognized that your favorite game isn't the best game, W take
I was thinking about the depths and sky in TOTK ad i had a few ideas.
The mention of “ALBW is a top 3 Zelda game” is THE REALEST SHIT EVER I absolutely adore albw and am so glad you advocate for it lol
Gotta relate with the first Hot Take - absolute share their opinion.
Zeltik is a huge inspiration of mine so that means a lot :)
Randomly stumbled across your channel, loving the content and the fact you love Skyward Sword. You’ve got yourself a subscriber
Thanks for the sub :) skyward sword rocks
This is a crazy milestone. Congrats on 1,000. Love the content 👌🏼
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed :)
Today i finished playing oot for the first time and it took me a few weeks to beat but it seemed pretty easy and oot is one of my favorite zelda games now😄
It definitely is one of the easier Zelda games, it’s my personal favorite!
Based on what he is saying about what he likes about different Zelda games, I think he will enjoy ages a lot more than seasons as long as he goes into it expecting something different and deeper. As much as the pick up and one for me that I have replayed more ages was by far the better overall experience, and obviously the better puzzler.
bro just became my new favorite zelda channel
Glad you’re enjoying the content!
Noticed the hockey edits mixed in, love how two of my favorite things are mixed in
Glad I’m finding my fellow hockey/zelda fans!
Seasons definitely has some flaws but I’m definitely enjoying it
So many followers in such a short time jusy shows the time and effort you put into your work. Love the vids as always keep it up!
I try to put out the best content that I can for my viewers, I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos!
I get where you’re coming from here, I don’t entirely agree but you made some great points
Dude is casually becoming the best Zelda RUclipsr. Can’t wait for more content and rankings!
Lmao thanks it means a lot :)
Most based youtuber for the motion controls alone
I thought It was only to clean the stupid decay off old weapons, that games attention to detail is insane!
Nice.
Pls make this a series i loved this so much keep up the great work👍🐐
I will don’t worry!
Hot take (or hot theory):
The timeline merge implied by BOTW lore details (Zelda referencing all three timelines depending on your voice language etc) is not only justified within the lore, but multiple games in the timeline actually take place during the process of the timelines merging. Four swords adventures features parts of the adult timeline, like the helmorok king, despite being in the child timeline, and Zelda 2 features a flooded Hyrule with large amounts of water, which could be parts of the adult timelines Hyrule merging into the downfall timeline.
I really hope we get a fully canon timeline from Nintendo like we did in the hyrule historia
My hot take:
I love the Triforce search in Wind Waker.
My Hot Take:
As much as I love BotW and TotK, open world games are not Zelda's strong suit. I want it to feel like a puzzle I'm trying to solve because that's what made me fall in love with Zelda in the first place.
your videos are awesome, i cant believe that you only have 1k subs, you deserve to be huge.
I’ll keep working towards it! I appreciate the kind words :)
Forest temple is literaly the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Ocarina of Time, and is the thing that usually makes me want to replay the game.
True, best dungeon ever
@@Ryan64ytI was so thrilled to see it at the top of your list. 100% agree
Just completed the explorers crypt, loved it. Favorite dungeon so far
@@Ryan64yt that one is awesome! The next dungeon is my second favorite dungeon in the series, hope you like it!
If you only had 1000 subs when you made this video, you are growing really fast! I hope it continues.
I think I had about 1.3k at the time of recording. I’m super greatful for all of the support so early on, I appreciate the kind words!
My opinion is that this channel is way to underrated
Lmao I appreciate it :)
Love your videos, keep up the good work!
Glad you’re enjoying!
Hot take: Fire temple is the best temple in Oot, its just so satisfying to play through
I love A Link Between Worlds. Love Ravio, love Yuga, favorite group of sages (especially Gulley and Osfala). 3rd game I got actually too
I really appreciate the kind words and I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos!
I'm curious to see your opinion when you finish through Oracle of Ages. And I'm not sure but I hope you got through ALTTP. I hope you channel blows up brother.
I did get through ALTTP, though with many lost hairs later. I might do an Oracle game review, like my opinions on both games
@@Ryan64yt I look forward to it.
4. Fuse Ability: As someone who isn’t very creative, I tend to use only the basic functions of the Fuse ability.”
I feel like it was easier in breath of the wild to traverse and felt more like a choose your own adventure. Thought I'd add that as the end of your vid had wasted potential, the two newest games have so much more wasted potential lore-wise.
man that first take is dead on, IDK why Nintendo made it so there wasn't an order...
My hot take: I'd like to see a remake of Adventures of Link. I think a fresh restart on modern hardware could make it good. Imagine smoother controls, better graphics/art direction, and a more streamlined UI and magic system. I think side scroller Zelda has real potential.
