Typical. Wont listen and wants to talk over what the judge is saying. The only thing to be done is shut up, let your lawyer talk and tell the judge yes sir I understand. Unless the judge asks you a direct question, your lawyer is there to speak for you. You do not have negotiation rights.

But, homelessness is real, can be no curfew from, it seems.

It's rather alarming that there are so many videos in this same jurisdiction in Texas. Do the police or especially the DA office have any clue about anything at all down there?? Good idea not to live there.

They KNOW he's the wrong guy, and it'll still take 4-6 hours, while he's standing in front of them in cuffs. Take the cuffs off, release him immediately. Do your paperwork without him there.

That defence lawyer was great. Prosecutor is a needed job but they tried pulling every card possible to just add on more money and time when its true, if they felt so strongly about it, they wouldve gone harder in the paint to start

Lawyer: He already had violations while on bond previously, then picked up another assault. I get that you are going to put him in jail, but can you make his bond the most minuscule amount possible so he’s only in jail a few hours and can learn absolutely nothing? Also, with his history, he’s likely to violate bond conditions and probably pick up yet another charge…BUT he’s a CHILD so that’s all that should matter 🤦‍♀️

Why did the district attorney let it get this far? For the money. And it's even sadder a court can't rule off of morals instead has to resort to legislation that was written who knows how many years ago. Written by the 1% who wanted to keep all the power consolidated.

Imagine living in a world where moving onto a shoulder is "illegal". Did the car on the other lane start to merge into him? Was there something in the road? I can think of several other reasons.

I like judge fleischer first of all, but surprised he actually revoked a bond and set a new one! Feel like he lets a lot of people go for more. Also I like this defense lawyer. Very articulate and made some good points and pushed all possibilities for his client

judge is an ass in this case. Defendant is committing a crime (illegal parking). Cops just pull up and run the tag, dont even stop or approach defendant. Defendant approaches cops without even being confronted about said crime. Defendant reeks of weed. Felony amounts of weed found in the car. If you dont want it to be illegal, dont pass the law. Judge doesn't get to decide whether parking illegally is a crime or not. He simply decides without even hearing the officers testimony that theres no way he couldn't tell whether the car was 18 inches from the curb. Worst of all is the comment "parking while black" insinuating that the officer is a racist without any evidence. The absolute worst thing I've heard in a while from our judicial system. Be better. If you hear all the evidence and come to a conclusion thats fine, but thats absolutely disgraceful. No merit whatsoever.

The thing on this is the statute says no more than 18 inches, so the officer will just mark that. The car could have been 6 feet off the curve, which is probable cause. According to the statute, he just puts over 18 inches, not the actual distance. So technically, the officer is correct from a legal standpoint. If the car was 6 feet, he could see that obviously. The prosecutor should have brought that up. But whatever, I’m glad the kid got released, but the officer was correct.
