Here is a video of Crawler's Ledge on the Kalalau Trail in Kauai, Hawai'i. We were hiking eastbound while returning from 2 nights at the beach. This trail is beautiful but the footing is extremely dangerous and the narrow trail is often exposed above a rocky coastline with waves crashing below. Any fall or slip could be deadly. Do NOT do this trail!

    How Long is Crawlers Ledge ???

    • @georgebackpacking1283
      @georgebackpacking1283 10 месяцев назад

      The part people refer to as crawlers ledge is only a minute or two long. But throughout the trail, there are a lot of long sections of very narrow trail next to steep cliffs. Most hikers would probably agree the sections before and after crawlers ledge are more sketchy due to loose footing.

    In october 1987, three friends and myself hiked from the standing rocks down to the harvest scene. On another trip I took my dad down the flint trail to the standing rocks. Another time I parked at top of flint trail and rode my motorcycle down it and out past the maze overlook, to meet up with friends who were riding mountain bikes to queen anne bottom on the green river. There's a chimney and hearth still standing at the site of the Butch Cassidy outlaw hideout cabin about 2-3 miles north of Hans Flat. I heard or read that the cabin burned down close to a hundred years ago.

    Hi there George, great video! I'm planning on doing a backpacking trip in the Supers. Would you think September would be a good month to go? Monsoons should let up at the end of August so water shouldn't be an issue in September right? Thanks in advance!

    I have to say, you have made the Wind River area seem a little less "rocky" than other videos and pictures I have seen! It hasn't been high on my list of places that I have wanted to backpack because in too many pictures and videos the place didn't seem to have enough of a rock / forest balance. Maybe you are starting to change my mind!

    Same 2 places I stayed back in the 70s . Differences no Cannisters , no reservations but permit at trailhead and a Lot more of Blue Glacier . They now require bear Cannisters on certain Olympic Coastal hikes not because of the Black Bears on the beach but because of the Racoons , they figured out how to get into hanging Ursacks.
