I made Loyalist Alpha Legion using the Compendium rules last edition I ran them along side Chaos cultists bercause my lore is that "The Illuminated" understand that the Eclesiarchy are heretics who follow Leticio Divinitatus which was written by Lorgar Aurellian so they strive to KILL EVERY MEMBER OF THE ECLESIARCHY so they stir up chaos cults to lure out sisters, If any other imperial forces show up they kill the cultists and leave If The sisters show up they KILL THE SISTERS and then Kill the cultists and leave. Currently they were working along side the Cult of the Ancient muse a group of Slaaneshi aligned women who found ancient terran music on their colony world and took the names of the ancient female rockstars. (Made using Escher ganger models) Belinda, Holly, Anne, Tiffany, Joan, Grace, Suzanna, Debbie, Martha, Martika I also did build a Cult champion allowed in the rules (Steevle) but you would never field such a model as the Aspiring champion is far better and you only get one leasder. also I didn't have space on kill team 2021's 20 man roster for her. Unfortunately with compendium gone and no team that can field Shooty chaos cultists like these girls I have no way to use them in the current edition I could run the Marine half as Legionaries but I already have "The Shrouded" My word Bearers Legionary team for that. They don't fit Nemesis claw in terms of backstory or background so I won't be proxying them as night lords.

also I just subscrubed because The Nemesis claw kill team is one of 3 space marine teams for kill team that my wife and I don't have (I have all the Chaos marine teams except Warpcoven which is her's (Funny because I had a Thousand sons army in 40k.)

Wonderful video...I used Army painters Magic blue instead...it gave them more of a fantasy look but I do like yours as well.

the way I see it, the matter of using aftermarket parts comes down to two factors: 1. does games workshop do the kit/bits 2. can you get that kit/bits at this moment in time direct from GW? if not, then don't feel guilty about using any bits from ANY source to make your vision come to life. I recently printed out an Iron Wariors chaos lord in cataphracti armour because it wasn't represented by any kits GW currently does and it only cost me 5 bucks for the files, but I'm still going to use GW's official kits most of the time because 3d printing is still a hassle of its own to contend with

For chainglaives, I'd also highly recommend Tortuga Gamestable. They're a Ukrainian based 3rd party seller with amazing resin models. They've got a lot of things that the legions may want and they look great to boot

Night Lords were my first chaos army from way back in the day. I love while so much of the modern loyalist marine aesthetic is that "are we the baddies" skit, the Night Lords are, and always were, aware that the Astartes are the bad guys. It feels like a glorious return to the themes of Rogue Trader and 2E artwork.

I love the production quality of the video, but the results are frustrating both artistically and lore-wise. The orange glow on and orange base shows a real missed opportunity for contrast. Also the puppets of war masks AND puppets of war shoulder pads are a little bland together. Mixing and matching other 3d prints, GW helmets, some 30k and 40k helmets and the puppets of war ones would have been a much more striking look. Also, that blue is just blueberries, I'm sorry. They're not midnight clad. Without any truly winged helmets, no lighting bolts and not being a dark blue I dont think this honors the Night Lords from the trilogy.

One question, can you pick up the pin wash at hobby stores or is it online stores only? It looks like something I would like to try.

Before doing stuff with oil paints and mineral oils, you should shinny seal them it helps a lot and prevents other colors feom bleeding. Then you matt seal it at the end to turn off the shine.

I have read the omnibus cover to cover now i believe 12 times... could be more... it's just about the only thing I've read in the past 6 months....hard to believe I'm saying it. The Konrad Curze primarch novel, the Long Night, the Prince of Crows....im a Night Lords fanboy for sure....I have also spent the last 6 months working on my 1:12 scale Mcfarlane conversion from Dark Angel into Talos Valcoran, and easily the best bare head paint I've ever done in my life...and a tabletop GW Space Marines lieutenant conversion into Talos as well, even drilling out holes for the tiniest ball bearings you might not be able to see with the naked eye in continuation with the same lore accurate warplate and paint as the larger Mcfarlane scale figure...i wish I could show you...freakin LOVE the 8th. Can't wait to see your completed passion project.

No lightning D: Also, I feel like the bright orange of the basing pigment takes away a bit from all the effort you put into your volkite glow. I'm planning a volkite heavy night lords army and hope my volkite is that glowy.

Great video! I feel like there isnt enough heresy night lords content on yt so its always refreshing to see! Id highly recommend varnishing between any steps that involve removing enamels. White spirits can remove acrylics if too much pressure is applied, and sometimes that isn't the desired effect. Also do not spray streaking grime through your airbrush without proper ventilation or equipment like a mask!! Unlike acrylics enamels arent water based and can do much more harm to your lungs. While Ive personally never tried them, Ive heard great things from florescent paints for glow effects, so thats another thing to check out if you want even more glowy effects. Im gonna give that black grey pass over the coils a go on my volkite squad!
