From Blender to Glass - I design and build the Lotus Bottle!
In this video I show the entire process of creation, from creating the 3d design in Blender to executing the piece in glass. Blender is a powerful 3d design and animation program that is open-source freeware. You can download the latest version here:
www.blender.org/
The learning curve can be a bit on the steep side, but if I can learn it anyone can! I strongly suggest at least trying it out. There are many advantages to designing in 3d as opposed to sketching.

Wow! That is an amazing design program. What's more amazing is your ability to manipulate the glass with such precision. Robert, you are truly a god among men in the glass world! You set a great example for the glass community. I love your work.
Thanks for the kind words! Cheers!
Going to try this right now! I have used this for small things before but nothing like what you made here
Thank you, Robert. Love watching and rewatching all of your vids.
Glad you like them!

...not bad bob, not bad at all.
Amazing Job thanks Robert. I retired from 30 yrs of Neon Glass. Legs got crushed. Switching to Boro has been Challenging and fun. Thx so much for sharing. Bryan Williams Glass Blowing 🔥
Thanks Bryan. I hope you're healing well!
Damn. Thanks man. Another video with great advise & the end was real special. I really appreciate the knowledge you share & also your own thoughts. Especially the clear way you describe/state your points. I hope all is well & yall have a relaxing end to the year. Thanks again. Cheers, zm
Thanks for watching! Hope the holidays are good to you.
Thank you Robert
thank you for your amazing videos maestro i m learning too much things from you🙏🫠
Your render of the peice in blender b4 you executed it was a whole lot to take in. This was nicely complete without needing extra narration. But a nice walkthru is always nice. Keep up the good work Robert
Mickelsen thank you! your a boss
Narration is a plus. Did you just bend hot glass around cold glass??!! Wtf? Lol how did that not crack???
It just seems to work. The glass skins up so there is a kind of insulation there where the two pieces touch. You can see it if you look closely. A shadow develops as soon as they touch where the glass is colder. Apparently, it is not enough to shock the cold piece of glass.
That's crazy! I'm gonna have to try it!
Right, @MadJix imagine getting symmetry in this chaos
Super cool seeing how you're incorporating Blender into your workflow. Incredible piece!
Thanks a ton!
Thank you Sir! 🇨🇴 gratefull from Colombis 🙏🏻🙏🏻sharing is caring
I personally prefer having an explanation as a voiceover rather than listening to music. I believe you can pinpoint important details that otherwise might be overlooked, some insights are eye opening. Thanks for sharing your process, it’s much appreciated.
Noted!
I like your narration. You have a narrator's oration. Sounds like your wife needs some ear plugs or muffs for Christmas, my wife loves hers 😁❤️
Nice video, but the music makes yme watch it on mute Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Robert!! Love your vids!!
Stunning as always
Thank you! Cheers!
Clicked on this video because I wanted to know if you could burn small holes in thin glass without it breaking, and even though it did not exactly answer my question, I found it very interesting!
How small and how thin? What kind of glass?
Great job! 🦾🤖🦿SUBSCRIBE IF YOU WANT TO LEARN
Thank you RAM!!! you the man!!
She's gorgeous!
Wow. I can practically feel the scales from just the video
so nice!!
That’s awesome looking❤
I love the fish, but I already have the black and white blank made for the Manta ray!❤next one maybe
Just make the fish once you are done with the Manta!
@@RAMickelsen the dragon I made came out great but my dragon head looks like an evil pig-dog! But it’s cool 😎thanks for the twisty trick to add color, I already picked up on that and you didn’t have to mention it to me! Lol I’m 60 so I get your humor! Lol been doing this 3 years as a hobby, made mostly marbles, pendants and sculptures till I figured out hollow ! Now I whip up wig wags with little effort! Love your videos, so much better than mine! How do I send you pictures?
This is so helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I’m on my way to the glass shed now to make the dolphin fish!❤😊
Nice! Send me a pic of your results.
@@RAMickelsen I sent you an email on big cartel asking for your email address so I can send you pictures
Thank you! I'm reminded of some graphite forms i have stored away, I'll have to pull them at
I did like this video! I like how you make the fins!❤, I have a video on my channel on making a little decorative fish, and my hands shake so bad at the end I can’t even stand it on the table without knocking it over! Lol😂
Oh my sidewinder can’t make anything that big! Great looking fish! I’m watching all your videos now❤😊
Thanks for watching
I make things like that out of glass and that is awesome! I just got through with a dragon!❤
Question: What long-term health impacts have you experienced working on the torch as long as you have?
Not many. I am fortunate that way. About the only thing I can think of is cataracts, but that is a hazard that affects every hot glass worker. The good news is that cataracts are easy to fix and covered by insurance.
Great advise! Thanks for sharing you experience.
My pleasure!
Thank you for this video, I really appreciate your wisdom and down to earth approach .
Thanks for watching!
Truly inspiring RAM. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
An absolute legend.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!
