One of the things I found so strange about the world building of Republic City (and the setting as a whole really) is that honestly the power dynamic should have been completely reversed at the start, with benders being the ones actively discriminated against while non-benders actively kept them out of any positions of authority or power. The 100 year was was caused by and waged by benders... you'd think the non-benders would be pretty salty about that... and against fire benders in particular. There should be _MASSIVE_ discrimination and hatred of firebenders because... you know... the whole try to conquer/destroy the world thing. Mako could be made a lot more interesting with this, being a firebender that actively refuses to firebend because he's been discriminated against and stigmatized all his life, maybe even hating himself and his bending and convinced he's naturally a bad person simply because of what he is. Bolin would be similar, but Mako goes out of his way to try and keep his younger brother as safe and happy as he can... which does lead to Bolin becoming underdeveloped maturity-wise due to Mako basically making sure he never has hardship. There was so much more that could have been done with the brothers... but nope, Love Triangle baby!

I see your points, some of them are quite valid but the way you explained was lackluster. Also, comparing it to botw was a mistake, you could have totally skipped all of that and continue to talk about Odyssey or past Mario games.

i feel a similar way for totk. It reuses way too much from botw to the point where you could call it blatantly lazy, and the new stuff’s just objectively poorly done and shallow at best. Just look at the depths for example, same boring environment copied and pasted across the entire map… the only thing that game does relatively good is the new building mechanics. It’s an objectively terrible sequel, and I would even go to the point of calling it an outright bad game with a ton of missed potential. It’s a shame that the latest mainline installments of nintendo’s biggest franchises are of such poor quality

In my opinion Odyssey is great but it feels sluggish at times what I mean is you do a lot of walking as Mario which makes it feel like botw but in botw makes sense and feels natural and you have horses, you don’t want a Mario walking simulator, they could’ve made more condensed levels instead of the big ones we got for the sake of keeping the gameplay entertaining, so the game could have way more platforming sections, those were the best parts where you get to do athletic stuff with Mario, everything else kinda feels like filler in between the actual enjoyable game

I think that this game, Breath of the wild and Mario wonders, were just all test games to see what parts of those games that we liked. So that they can implement it into their next game. They are all just a mix of different ideas and not a fully fleshed out experience.

Small Green Lobster, maybe that is just your feeling. I think the differences between ATLA and Korra are not that large. ATLA definitely is not the greatest show on earth, and Korra is definitely not the all time failure. The fact that you think they are, says a lot about your perception of ATLA. I too find it a fine story and i also watched some episodes again, mainly the toph beifong episodes. But to say that Avatar is the greatest show ever... no i'm sorry. It is first and foremost the PLOT and STORY to my opinion which are great, in combination with many real life elements, mainly the imperfections of many characters. Perfect characters, as perfect people, are boring to the very core. Writers know this and give all kinds of flaws to their characters. The fact that they, are childish, or brutal, or too loud, or sometimes plain stupid, that's what makes it so satisfying to watch, Of course combined with the bad guys/girls, who seem every time to be winning, because they are stronger, better, more flexible and more experienced and focussed. So much cliff hangers is very satisfactory to watch also. Korra has also these elements, but, alas, it comes AFTER The Last Airbender, which could hardly be topped. That show is perfect as it is (e.g. like LOTR, Harry Potter). Korra is kind of sequel, with more or less the same characters, story, and decorum/digitalized worlds. That is why it is not precisely THAT satisfactory to watch: we know it already. And of course, also with ATLA, the bad guys always lose. In the end Korra is quite good but not significantly better then ATLA. That is, I think, what made it, at least for you, a disappointment... I could much more enjoy Korra. Sorry that you couldn't. That most certainly is not your flaw, of course not, but it is also not the flaw of Korra. I think, a daring producer would have said: Ok guys, we have it, this is the top. Any sequel will simply fail, because we could not do it better. We wont make offspring or remakes. We simply turn towards other worlds and stories.

Everyone arguing that lavabending directly refutes the “rules” that were set up in the original show hasn’t seen the original show. There were also no rules set up in the show. We got a look at one story in this world. Why is that ONE story the limit for anything and everything that happens afterwards?

I fully agree with 95% of the video, up until you started talking generalized nonsense about Star Wars as a whole. It's clear to me that you've never played KOTOR2, nor understood Kreia's character, because that would tell you there can be much more substance and moral ambguity in SW. It just gets dumbed down most of the time. Which is exactly what's wrong with the SW media these days. Too dumb.

Lately I've been seeing more hate than overrating. Still not enough to make me question if "overhate" though, hehe. Between this, the comics (most of them divisive at best) and the live actions... I guess I'll just stick with the original ATLA.

Anyone who makes fun of this video or calls him arrogant needs to themselves learn how to have a debate. If you have a counter argument to his point, share it. Don't just attack someone personally.

When multiple review sites have constantly good scores(like in rotten tomatoes having the audience and critics generally agree something is good is kind of rare) maybe the show is good

I love Mario games but can't 'feel' this one. The controls are clunky, the camera is annoying, I feel like it should be called "Camera's Odyssey" because I'm controlling the camera more than Mario to see where I'm going. The controls are often unresponsive and don't do the move you're trying to do, the levels are boring, the ability to control other characters with the cap is fun sometimes and there's a T-Rex in one of the stages which seems out of place in a Mario game, along with the human elements I'm not sure there are humans and a city with cars and taxi's in the world of Mario. I didn't feel connected to this game, it wasn't as much fun as Mario 64/Galaxy. They need to make a game like Mario 64/Galaxy without a gimmick, the cap mechanic is stupid in my opinion. This game had way too much hype, I've been playing Mario games for 25+ years and this one just feels boring to me - I badly want to love it but I just can't. I couldn't even be bothered finishing the game because I felt bored playing it, the Mario magic isn't in this game. It certainly isn't as good as the reviews and hype say it is.

I think of it as a standalone show, because besides the 4 nations, bending, and old gaang members, it feels like a whole different show. Spirits were only angry when prevoked, and now there is good and evil spirits? And the worst thing about this show, is undoubtedly raava and vatuu. There was no prior mentions of them in atla, and now they are just here?

I hate korra cus they built the whole relationship with bolin and/or mako and it worked up until korra started to be abusive and frankly didnt care abt mako or bolin AND THEN out of nowhere she is GAY?! Like theres no reason for that and also korra is just a poorly written show with NO meaning and she goes around smashing everything and unlike AVTLA which has a deep meaning korra is just braindead

I think the real reason people defend it so hard is because the protagonist is a woman of color and a queer one at that. They just want so badly to celebrate the diversity points that they'll bend over backwards to defend everything horrible about it, and they talk down to dissenters like they're media illiterate fools who just don't get it. The defenses I always see reek of "you have to have a high IQ to understand Rick and Morty"

Imagine living in a world where the most powerful being in existence is Korra. An insufferable, entitled, overpowered brat. It'd be worse than Germany in 1940. Avatar Wan wasn't much better either. A self righteous, overpowered "Chew" hating communist. 😂

And also the graphics are mostly not Mario like sone of them look more like dark souls, sone of them are dark.

Bought this game and sokd it after 3 hours. Very boring experience. Biggest let down in video game ever.

i completely disagree with your feelings between korra and aang, don’t get me wrong korra makes a lot of dumb decisions, and her growth isn’t very good, but to say aang goes through more character growth, or that he’s a more interesting protagonist means you’re smoking some copium gas, Aang is likable for how innocent he is, but he’s just as generic as most shonen protagonists (tanjiro, deku, naruto) someone who’s kind but has to fight because the world needs them to, and even as far as character growth aang is pretty much the exact same person he was when he came out the iceburg, he’s still sillly, he’s still trusting, he tried to be friends with zuko and was still willing to try even though zuko almost got aang killed in ba sing sae, hell, aang was gonna postpone his fight with the fire lord until zuko told him that’s not possible, the lion turtle needs to come out of nowhere to give aang some ancient power to resolve the conflict because the conflict needs to be resolved, which doesn’t seem to be as sour in your mind as korra randomly getting airbending because she needed to, i think it’s clear avatar is better, but i don’t think it’s an opinion that korra is way more interesting, even when she suffers character death in the second season and becomes a narcissist

here is smthing for you to think about: Mario odyessey is a game aimed for KIDS. if the game is too hard, the player, which us is usually a kid, will be mad and stop playing. Also, you arent even stating that many good reasons as to why the game is "bad". And comparing it to botw is insane, they are two completely different games. Botw is more for older kids or teens, which is why the difficulty is different between the two. Im sorry but this whole video just sucks

Why should I care? I love it.

ATLA is a kids' show for adults. TLOK is an adult show for kids. One has deep themes with a well written story that can be understood by all, and lovable characters to boot. The other has fart jokes layed on top of a "high stakes" situation, with people who act unrealistic and never learn anything.
