My Canon R6 II tracks a bird (with an old ef lens) through a flight down the beach below the level of a large crashing wave behind it and stayed locked on using automatic subject detect. It's 500 USD cheaper than the X-H2s I returned.

I don't understand why Fuji still sells the XH2s for $2500 USD in good faith. It has potential, but the AF ruined it. I would say just use zone AF as much as possible for photography until they figure it out. Video is another issue that I don't worry about, but I know a lot of people do need it. I still think they will have to develop a new processor to fix the AF or get it on par with other manufacturers.

I think they can't justify spending on R&D because the digital camera market is collapsing. Cell phones cameras are great now but IMO they don't look as good as Fuji.. yet

I was at the ASC Clubhouse event where the GFX100II was presented and almost every single DP there immediately just told Fujifilm they wanted it in a cinema body. There were a ton of meetings at the event about it. I can't say anything specific but I know for a fact a DP used the GFX100II recently on a big film and had at least mentioned to them what they wanted in this product (or something like it). To the people laughing at Fujifilm or wondering why they made this: major "Hollywood" Cinematographers (and all of us in their wake) asked for it. If this doesn't look like a good proposition, it simply might just not be for you.

Just bought a new XH2 (1 week now) and just discovered about these autofocus issues today. Now I'm thinking of returning it, but I might wait for the next firmware update. If nothing changes, the camera is going back. Thank you!

Over my 16 plus years of digital photography, photographing a wide range of subjects that include event photography, i have put together a vast array of cameras and lens. I started with Pentax DSLR'S and still use 6 Pentax cameras one being a K1 MKII. once mirrorless cameras came in, i added Fujifilm, Panasonic ,Olympus, NIKON and Sony bodies and glass covering full frame, APSC and Micro 4/3. I started Fujifilm with a XT3 and over the years added a XT5 XH2 and lastly a XT50...

I agree with your summary from the macro perspective, having said that what makes this lens a very useful tool is all of its versatility combined into a small lens that can be used for a wide range of photography which includes macro. Best wishes, Kyle

Thanks man, I have noticed that a lot and got burnt by bad client footage. I use my z6ii for video these days even though X-H2 has much better overall features.

If they put out a 14bit Cinema Raw DNG format, I would definitely buy it.

I was really excited on initially hearing this, but I hope it has more than what the gfx 100 ii already has to offer, image quality wise. But otherwise a S35 x mount in a smaller body would be killer.

As it stands right now, I am a solo operator so this camera doesn’t really make any difference to me. It is a little fascinating that Fuji decided to go this way. It will be interesting to watch how the product develop over the next three or four years.

I hope it produces a better image quality than the GFX. Perhaps with a larger body, they can squeeze out more performance. Also, are there any plans to make an X-Eterna now?

10-20K?????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (sorry for being a j3rk) fx3ii + future 28-70 f2. I could buy like 4 times this equipment for the eterna price. And i hardly doubt i would get a worse image quality. I still wonder why should i pick an eterna which should be the "same" as a gfx 100ii

When you compare weight you need to compare apples to apples. If you want same light capability and DOF you would need to compare a Fuji XF23/1.4 to the Nikon 40/2. FF has about one stop better ISO and DOF of both lenses is same as the sensors have different sizes. Now the Fuji lense weighs 375gr and the Nikon 170gr. This equation left the Glas quality aside 😊

Likely will have rolling shutter unless they come out with a stacked sensor and crazy procesor. Ideal scenario would be a low megapixel sensor, think 12 enormous megapixels Ala Sony

I'm not shy to showing my ignorance here, but maybe you can help clarify a few things for me so that I can join in with the excitement; 1) The biggest complaint I constantly hear from Fujifilm video shooters, is that the footage is just too sharp. So i can only imagine that this camera with its 100mp will be razor sharp? 2) Whilst the sensor covers a lot of formats, it will surely have a poor readout speed? The rolling shutter here will be awful, thereby nuking massively its versatility? Wouldn't a simple stacked sensor camera or something else with a very good readout speed and the use of speed boosters just be a better path? 3) AF. Whilst I understand that AF is something more for the running and gunning fellas, cameras like this will be using manual focus cinelenses for most of the time, and possibly additional support by tools like the dji lidar system, right? But still... their AF is such a mess and I have serious doubts it will be fixed on any of their existing mounts and especially when using current gen processors. This camera is likely going to be very expensive, so when considering the aforementioned points, surely a better alternative already exists elsewhere? Feels like Fuji are trying to run before they have learned to walk, but maybe I am being harsh..

Hopefully they can achieve a faster readout, even though it is same sensor and processor as 100 II.. Looking forward to more information tomorrow.

Price will be key. Since Fuji is using GFX in the name I would expect the pricing strategy to reflect current GFX strategy.

With the black magic Pyxis out for $3000 Fuji better compete in the right way. They’ve gotta give people a good reason to buy this cinema camera. My guess it will have auto focus, film sims and ibis which might call for a higher price. I can’t wait for more information

Issue. They Fuji is using the GFX100II 102mp sensor instead of the proposed 36mp GFX sensor running an enhanced x-Processor 5. The readout speed for GF 4K is 25ms. I have the GFX100II and love it however, I do get wobbles on movement like 3 point stabilized handheld walking. This is exciting news Interbee is tomorrow so we will see. I am super excited about Flog2C

I was kinda hoping to see that xh2s stacked sensor in a cine body Maybe later down the line This thing is dope though as we finally see Fuji stepping up to the cine scene for us Fuji users I hope this catches on and is priced competitively

I really like your videos ... thought this one is not for me, but its interesting too. [you mentioned the elephant in the room ]the autofocus ,continuous stable tracking on burst mode is like waiting for a spaceship to land on saturn.....

Dear Thierry, Thanks a lot for this nice summary. As a Photographer and film maker myself, I was waiting for the day that announcement would finally come. I use and rigged X-S20, X-H2s and GFX 100 II and would only ask for internal ND, option to use gyro data for post-stabilisation and a V-mount option to run the beast all day long. Please let us know when you get more info after Inter BEE ... :-)

I was debating between XS20 and A6700 and ended up choosing the latter because of the much better AF. Fuji AF has rendered their cameras almost entirely unusable, and I have no clue how fuji users are putting up with it.
