What were the maintenance things that you think contributed to your locs not expanding much?

I am going to defend one thing. When you signed up to become a sisterlock consultant you agreed to all of their terms. It’s kind of like a franchise. You can’t open up McDonald’s and start doing your own thing. However, once you leave the sisterlock program, that is the end. They have no reason to talk about you or even think about you. I loc’d my hair almost ten years ago. Back then when I was looking for a consultant I met many people who had jumped ship. One of the biggest issues was the sizing and the grid. They could not give customers individualized service. The other issue was that being certified really didn’t bring them clients. It was mostly word of mouth. So they are jumping through all these hoops yet they aren’t getting any value.

I have had locs for 6 year and they are tiny. The tool is larger than my locs. I don’t get reties often because of damage. The locs have matured and are to big to past thru the new growth and makes my hair weak, delicate at the roots causing breakage. My hair will fall if I continue to pass that tool thru it. I have even filed the loc tool down to size. I am going to combine these sisterloc’s . Thank you for this video

I don't get the big deal. You found a better tool from what you saw the SL tool was that came from Dr. Cornwell, so many more people have did locks call them something else, because of Dr. comwell, she went and found A way of doing locks and brought it back She's like the notes but everybody else has songs. I don't know why y'all fighting. She's allow all of y'all to eat. Stop it, ladies.

The other side to this is the LOSS OF TRUST. What do you tell your customers that got the smaller sizes and have been with you for years? Cause “we’re offering a bigger size now” sounds like straight BS and they deserve a better answer. I’m curious if client messaging around the WHY will be part of the XL training courses. There will be none because it’s just a money grab. All sisterlock consultants should be receiving new messaging on the WHY for this but they’re leaving them out in the cold. I believe they know the brand is dying and they’re just squeezing the last little bit of juice out.

My loctitian told me I NEEDED the smaller size during my consultation because it would be better for my lower density hair. After 4 years she’s combining my edges to the size I originally wanted.

My second consultation is next week. I’m hoping and praying this is the one ! I’ve been wanting these locs for about 2 years now and now I’m finally ready. I plan on paying my deposit within a few weeks to the month and then scheduling for around Feb/march.

As with every culture on Earth, the evolution of our culture, the African American culture, will always include some growing pains, hopefully we can get past this and move on for the greater good of the community b/c sister locs are so freeing, keeping our dollars more circulated in our community. I'm sure Madam CJ Walker probably had somebody having issues with the hot comb.... and it came to pass... this too shall pass... I'm still celebrating the naturl hair, loc, micro locs, sister locs, twa movements and all the freedoms (mental and financial that they bring). IF we only lived in a world where we really and truly believed that there was room at the top for every body, b/c there really is, its this belief in scarcity that has people fighting each other, wars starting, families falling a part, including the sister loc family.... You want to use someone else’s trademarked brand to do your own thing. Just do your own thing but don’t call it sisterlocs, call it microlocs. You’ll be removed from the sisterlocs list bc you’re not using the method. That’s not bullying or control. If you want to do your own thing, just do your own thing and don’t use the trademark or violate someone else’s intellectual property, give the same respect you’d want. Simple. Peace.

Omg...I'm so happy to see this. I am a SL trainee but I've had to install a bit larger than that card at times, because as I was doing the install I realized it was just too small. Some hair just will not work with such few tiny strands. I was feeling bad because it was bigger than the card. I thought I was the only one who did that. Lol. Thank God!!!

I love the commentary. When I first heard there is going to be XL, my thought was folks are already doing this so what are they offering that’s different?

I got interlocked microlocs a month ago (around 360 locs) because trad sisterlocs seemed too small

I think that you are right for making your decision. That's your decision . There's no problem there

However, I clearly understand what the sisterlock creator is doing and I don't give her wrong because the fact is that she was the creator of this hairstyle. If this is a way to protect the brand then go ahead.

What's the "dap tool" I've never used sisterlock products other than the clip tool which has gotten expensive lately so tell me about this dap tool ?

Thank you for the tips! . I am still doing research on locs before I get them and there’s a few things holding me back….. If a loc client does not have a good partnership with their loctician and wants/needs to switch locticians for what ever reason, many locticians say they won’t take transfer clients 🙄. The consultation process cost $ to feel out locticians and see if they are a good match. The hole process of starting seems Very frustrating and I don’t even have locs yet.

Thanks for sharing this. I am experiencing some thinning from medications and hormonal changes post breast cancer treatment. I spoke with my loctician and she recommended just what you said. She will start with changing the rotation and tension. I was happy to hear her recommend the same thing that you recommended. She didn’t want to start with combining first. Thank you.

Are sisterlocks not microlocks? The difference is the trademark of sisterlocks…

The reason i have not recertified is becauae i moved and where i currently live i am the only person with sisterlocks which I am combining to traditional locs.. I agree with stepping away and stop paying so much money for recertification.Most of the people here have those big huge locs and they just want box braids, knotless and loc extensions.
