  • I tried to convert my Sisterlocks to regular ole' Microlocks by combining several of them but technically I'm not there yet. I went from 475 locs to close to 430, but my grid still meets standards for Sisterlocks. My hair is DECEPTIVELY thick even though i am noticing some thinner areas as I get older.
Many people swear by using mirrors for self retightenings, but mirrors only help me mess up so hey, if using the mirror as you work helps you--go off then sis/bro! I'm just showing this so people know that I'm not out here just running my mouth. I actually do what I say I do and if I can slay my own head with this tool, you can't tell me what can and can't be done with this tool when I'm working on someone else's head with it--for smaller and larger microlocks.
Self retightening is a form of self care, but if it is stressful, get someone else to do it lol. It takes patience and time and having a tool that you can use properly makes a difference. I use the D.A.P Tool®️ because I can and because it is faster for me... plus, I invented it!🤷🏾‍♀️😊
Non-loc wearers complain about the time it takes for retightenings (like it's their hair🤣) but I'll gladly take a 2 hour reti if I have someone else do it or a 5 hour self reti every 5 weeks over the hours of detangling and sitting in braid shops/salons spending hundreds of dollars on hair that ended up in the trash after so many weeks versus loving on my own hair. For me, the benefit of locs far outweighed the benefits of being a loose natural.
Locs are absolutely NOT for everyone and that's okay, but don't judge if you haven't braved the journey. I'm good with my hair decisions.😉
