Commit Your Focus To One Training Aspect At A Time
Thanks for explaining why these exercises work! I love knowing this kinda thing!
I learn so much from you. I really need to book a lesson with you!!!! 😊
Wow
These people already know how to sing
I just notice such a drastic flip with my first bridge. I’m not a true bass but struggle with my range above d4
Thank you so much for all your videos, Kurt (and your team)! They truly are the best and most helpful. This one in particular is my favourite-I’m able to get a full warm up each time and I have been able to improve my singing thanks to the techniques and tips. I always wonder where the line is between stretching/challenging the voice and straining. What is Martina’s voice type? Merry Christmas!
❤
Any advice for someone with vocal paralysis? My left vocal cord is basically paralyzed since birth, which makes my voice sound breathy while speaking and I'm only really able to sing comfortably when I go low, which makes me a little embarrassed as a girl. I can't really hit any high notes so I'd appreciate some help :)
*Clean content.*
Thanks let us learn to sing in mix voice confidently "This Christmas" song. A Merry Christmas to you and all here watching this video. May the good Lord bless you all and sing like the birds in the garden where God had created for a purpose in life giving glory back to Him with your beautiful voices.
What helped me years ago was to envisioning myself as being “on top of” the high note as opposed to being “underneath” it.
For my entire life singing I have always had a decent voice that sounded good 'at moments' but always struggled to get a consistent tone and ultimately i have been very frustrated trying to get the results I wanted for my recordings and performances. This video, THIS VIDEO and the extremely succinct explanations in it have easily eclipsed the half dozen voice teachers i've tried for personal lessons in the past. Listening to and internalizing the instructions here and doing this exercise daily has completely transformed my voice and I can feel myself inching closer and closer to the results that i've been chasing for YEARS. The realization that I needed to embrace each of the three voices, identify them, and work on them independently has just changed everything. Now I finally know why I could get sometimes get 'the results' I wanted sometimes but then struggle to repeat them on another random day. It was exactly as you said "I felt something change and it seems like something's wrong." or "using force to push the result I want." The explanation about larynx height has been incredibly instructive for me as well, all the sudden I can go into high head voice notes and get better results than ever before, by minding the Larynx. Or the thought that i'm I can deliberately tensing up my vocal chords for headvoice instead of feeling like that tension was 'wrong' and I needed to correct it to sing well. Thank you for posting this video, you are amazing and I can't believe how clear your tone is personally on some of these exercises. I would love to hear some of your actual performances, is there anywhere I could see that?
Thank you for your comment and for the gratitude! I appreciate it. I don’t perform, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching/coaching and that is my artistic expression.
i've noticed that when singing coaches talk about head voice they use ee and oo , and when they talk about chest voice they sing AY, OH, and UH. could one combine vowel sounds to find where the notes need to resonate? if you're straining and stuck in chest voice, can you just modify/shade toward ee or oo? asking for a friend
Not my channel but, yeah, mastering your vowels is like half the battle. Narrowing your vowels moves you toward head, but after a certain point it kind of limits your resonance. Once you’re in full head voice, try opening your vowels back up a little to see how that feels. But really, I like to use cry/siren sounds on mm/n/ng then woo/wee, and eventually get into nay/nah. Of course, you have CVT overdrive also on eh and oh which is different but can also be mixed.
This was such a fun class!!! Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
literally the first time ive ever dug a pop xmas song just because of how well kurt gets me through these icnredibly difficult coordinations/techinques and then seamlessly synthesizes all of the skills \learned from the exercises into the miracle that is music...its literally a christmas musical thanks to maestro wolf. my thanks.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for this valuable information! I’ve never come across someone who has explained MIX Voice so thoroughly and clearly - I’m so eager to learn more, and hope I can have a lesson with you someday! 🤩🔥
I love this, thanks
You’re welcome!
Dude. Your lessons are the bomb. Seriously. Appreciate these tips for those of us who across the country. Thank you! 🙏🏻 ☺️
good job!
Thanks!
I hear yo😮u but one question, how do you explain singers like Kierra Sheard and Leandria Johnson or any other Gospel singer that sings in the chest for style? I would venture to say their technique could be adjusted, but by hearing them proves that it can be done in the chest.
Wow! Thank you so much!
You’re welcome!
Your training works. The results for me are astounding. Thank you
That's amazing to hear! I'm so glad it's helping.
You are the most amazing vocal coach. So happy I found you.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying the lessons!
Wow this works right away.
عالی
Thank you!
So you mean that all the high notes you can achieve them by inhaling the note and later the syllables?
This is awesome.
Thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had no idea that's how falsettos work!
This reminds me of a technique called balancing that’s been suggested for baritones which involves softening high notes and consonants.
You're right, balancing is a very important technique for singers of all types.
OMG Kurt, you are beyond amazing and I cannot get enough of your videos. Your explanations, examples and exercises are exceptional! I can't tell you how much my singing has improved in such a short time. Thank-you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your incredible talents and love of teaching with us!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm thrilled to hear that my videos are helping!
