Hi, I'm Wolfgang - this channel is all about electric guitars, amps, pedals, related gear and of course guitar playing. Have fun!
Best Guitar Chord 2024
The best chord I found on my guitar fretboard this year. It sounds so beautiful that I have to share it with you. At the same time, you can also learn something about music theory.

Guthrie Govan's Charvel got a YJM pickup!
Nice! But dammit the new shit I now want is even more expensive... nice playing and examples
Probably the most respectable loadbox comparison on the internet, totally underrated!
Thank you for preventing me buying it! I was really thrilled about all features it provided, however noise issue is a big turn off.
I also have the 6th one ever made, bought in 2013, when they first came out... mine doesnt even have laquer on the back.... Was practically still a proto... : )
Wow, that's great!
Wow!!! The difference in sound is dramatic. I also have an MM1. Your demo reflects what I hear on mine. I am going to look into the Suhr pickups. Thank you for sharing this.
Did you ever got a chance to try the Aracom, I believe their PRX150-DAG model is also a loadbox that can be run without speaker… A friend of mine is only swearing by this, but I can’t find any info anywhere…
Sorry, I haven't tested this device - if your friend has already compared it with the winners of this test, it might be worth giving it a try. As an attenuator it looks like it is technically similar to the Ironman II from Toneking.
Thanks… that’s the problem with current market, so many choices and they’re not good and bad, it just depends on what we’re looking for. But it’s hard to be sure at 100% that we’re buying the right one… and it gets quite expensive to buy multiple ones to find out they’re not the right ones… it cost even more for amps. At of today, my choices are down to: 1) St Rock React IR II 2) Fryette PS2 3) UA Ox and (maybe) 4) Aracom PRX150-DAG… probably in that order, well at last for now. I’m still checking all videos and demos I can find to confirm my choices, or adjust them to new infos. Thanks again for your help…
Hey, first of all, thank you a lot for all your work on those loadbox comparisons (I appreciate the very scientific method about it, not just giving your 2 cents like most youtubers do). It really helps me to decide which loadbox I’m gonna buy for myself. Do you have any idea if the Two-Notes Reload is similar to the Captor or more like their Torpedo? Thank you in advance
Thanks for your comment - sorry, I don't have any experience with the Reload...
Yeah, it’s a little bit different from loadbox… I don’t really need reamping (even if it’s a nice feature), but I like the continuous attenuator, but I wonder how it works and if it’s different from the Captor. I’m not a big fan of the Captor hardware, but I kind of like their software (I think it was called Wall of Sound in the past with their DynIR, now I think it’s included in Genome).
Hello, I've seen you got the engl fireball 25 in the back. Did you compare the line out of the fireball with the captor or one of the reactive loadboxes ? Do you think there will be a real difference between the line out +ir vs captor +ir? I have bad sound with line out + ir and want to figure if the captor can change this. Thanks.
Tremendous amount of work! Thank you!
Your speaker impedence curve is baked into your amp line out with that set up, but the load boxes have their own reactive load. How much that is affecting the result I don't know, but technically the loadboax with closer reactive load to your speaker would be closer to your amp line out which is not an accurate result.
In this test the tonal neutrality is tested and no speaker was connected at all - see 4:26
@@RockGuitarVibes So then your amp has no speaker load and reacts differently when connected to a reactive loadbox (which has a speaker impedence built in)
@@harmonicseries6582 That's how it is!
Great to see your studio back. Grüße von Trier
Grüße zurück 😎🎸
Daisy chaining is for fools
Of course it's better to avoid daisy chaining whenever possible - however, a pedal should not pollute its power source.
@RockGuitarVibes with all due respect I think you need to sit down and read about impedance. If you buy a pedal with as many functions as this you shouldn't be surprised if an unisolated power supply doesn't power it properly. It's the PSU not serving the pedal properly not the other way around.
@@TheGazDooks Well, not quote sure if you noticed that I already used a high quality isolated power supply. I consider doing a follow up video to show all details with some more tests...
A poor power supply and a poor signal chain make for a poor pedal board. No surprises there. You're proving nothing and telling a made up story.
@@TheGazDooks Be relaxed and excited about what's coming next...
With locking tuners and the Gotoh, tuning stability should be perfect, like on my Meteora. Things that could get in the way of tuning stability could be the nut and the string trees. Try "nut sauce" on those, helped me to perfection, even with standard Fender 2-point tremolos.
Simple: if you want to use a daisy chain or other cheap power supply, buy a different tuner. It sucks, but the more features you cram in, the more likely it will add noise. When I try to run my RV-500 in stereo, there is mch more noise than if I run it in mono. I have a one-spot isolated power supply under the board, but the transformer is in the power supply so it still picks up noise even if I use it with just the batteries.
Nice thumbnail, Thank you for the beautiful sounding chords, Wishing you a happy new year from Hawaii.🎆
Hawaii reminds me on my Suhr guitar with a Koa-wood body 👍 which is a part of my next video about my guitar colletion.
@@RockGuitarVibes Alright, I will be looking out for that video, I'm subscribed so I get notifications when you release a new video, Thank you, I'm enjoying them, I can't wait to see your Guthrie govan guitars again. 🎸
Why do I need a flat repossession load box??? And why do you think that voltage divider gives flat response? Complete nonsense:) You can probably estimate the bandwidth of the input and output chains of load boxes. But except some really bad cases it’s not informative at all.
Please watch carefully - this test is for tonal neutrality. The line out of the amp is compared to the line out of the load box - ideally there should be no difference, means a flat curve. The resulting curves are not response curves!
Quick tip. The bridge apparently has locking studs. A lot of people are not aware of this and is one factor as to why the bridge has issues. Lock those studs. Regarding the string tree. Apparently the guitar doesn't actually need it. Presuming the nut is cut well, letting the last 2 strings float without the tree further resolves the tuning issues. No need for replacement staggered tuners,
If you watched carefully you may have noticed that I played an Amaj7 instead of an A7 at 1:41 - I accidentally used a G# instead of a G 🙄
I actually prefer this hahaha
🤘
Thanks!
Unbelievable, I didn't expect that, mate 🙏😎🎸
I just subbed your channel, thank you for the incredible effort. This will save me a lot of heartache and money in the end. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot for the positive feedback - glad I could help 😎🎸.
Thank you for this wonderful Video!
Cheers - you're welcome!
I have a RBM Ibanez Voyager, can i still go up with my floyd rose as i have a cutaway on the bottom on the guitar body. Leaving the floyd rose out in the open with nothing blocking it????
You can use the trem as usual if the Hardtailer is not engaged - if engaged, you can pitch down only.
Mine doesn't do that. Even when Daisy chained.
Thanks for the information - the circuit may have been changed in the meantime. I've planned to check it again with a new device.
Freut mich sehr, daß das Studio wiederhergestellt ist. Alles Gute und viele Grüße aus Berlin.
Vielen Dank - hoffen wir, dass das nie wieder passiert...
The 7 string version comes with the thumb locking Gotoh’s installed from the factory! Mine is on the way!
Pretty good decision!
There's a major issue all right. Not the with tuner, though. This is a dumb click bait video.
Hm, I could not use it in my setup - so I had to send it back. It's offers 'true bypass' but the digital noise still occurs in bypass mode, even in muted mode! It's technically imperfect. IMO if the community wants better products, we need to talk about and luckily, I'm an independent RUclips guy who doesn't need the money for living. This means I can name bad things without fear of loosing money because I'm not paid by WA.
Great collection! I own five guitars and I can only imagine owning maybe three more. One day I want a Godin Montreal Premiere LTD in Desert Blue, a Godin LGXT or xTSA in Trans Blue and a Seagull S6 Original. My collection would be 100% complete as far as I'm concerned if I were to get those last three guitars. I'm not rich so I'm glad that my grail guitars aren't stratospherically expensive.
Even though I've never played a Godin, I've only heard good things about it.
Lets see some new ones reviewed
That charvel with the wenge neck and hsh pickup configuration looks interesting,
So true - however, I would prefer a different color.
@RockGuitarVibes i watched the rest of your video after commenting and it looks like you've got a really nice collection already honestly, can't wait to see the rest!
Good to know that it requires it's own isolated power, thanks.
Really nice guitars! And you can play too 🫡
Thanks a lot 🙏😎🎸
Great playing. Beautiful guitars I like every one of em. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much mate 👍🎸🙏
How about the Mesa Powerhouse attenuator line out?
Sorry, I haven't tried it yet...
using the room mic is a cool Idea I mean that's what you will hear in the audience at least at a small gig, nice video
Amazing research, very nice explanation. Thank you so much for this!
great review😊😊 should i use two di box for using suhr RL ir?
Many thanks 🙏 it depends on you setup, an isololation box is normally only required for reamping - one is good enough.
@@RockGuitarVibes Thanks a lot for replying me 🙏🙏 oh you mean it's okay only the first DI BOX exist? great!! so if I use only one DI BOX with no IR loader, the signal chain will be like this: guitar --[ts to ts line]--> DI BOX ----[???]--> suhr RL ir --[trs to trs]--> Audio Interface?? and also I would like to know what kind of the line I should use? because DI BOX output is balanced but the amp input is not. just okay to use trs/xlr to trs or ts cable?
perfect demo thanks
I only run isolated power supplies. Cioks and VooDoo Labs are what I'm currently running. No noice from any digital pedals including the Canvas Tuner.
That's true - great if your power supply has enough 9V outlets.
Excellent Video Thanks So Much
Thank you for this great work you have done on this! I own an X-Load with FM9 and am buying a new expensive boutique tube amp (Mezzabarba) that I would like to use with them without using a real cab, up to this point I just used it as an attenuator for my tube combo amp (5150 III) and have tried it with the IR loading and it worked great, I just did not use it that way in the past, but I think it will suit my small room gigs and studio recording at home workflow nicely using it in this new way without having to blast my neighbors out :)
I would love to check out a Mezzabarba next time in the music store 😎🎸
Incredible resource thank you
The tone is STUNNING on both. I prefer the USA model
Love your stuff - great video. Now, if only my Fuchs ODS II was as straight forward to repair... 😂
I only have experience of the Torpedo Live. You mentioned a lack of high end.. To my ears from your comparison the TL sounds like it had less gain.. is that something you noticed? Also do you think there is a perceived lack of gain when using the TL compared to a real cab?
IMO comparing a reactive load with a real cab is almost pointless. The impedance curve of the reactive load is different to a real cab and you have to use a pretty similar IR, which also depends on the used setting when the IR is created (used mics and position).
New pickups sounds too thin to me the othered were more balanced across the board. However I dig the chrome covers
Thank you so much for this.
Hi, I'm thinking of swapping out my Hyperions as well. Were you able to use the stock screws on the Thornbuckers? Did you have to enlarge the screw holes on the pickup legs?
I've used the screws of the Hyperions - as far as I remember a mod of the screw holes wasn't necessary.
@@RockGuitarVibes Hope I won't need any mods as well :) Thanks! Great vid!
Floyd Roses are so hard to drop tune Synyster Gates: I missed the part where that's my problem
Of course this only applies to floating trems...
❤❤❤❤❤❤ 🎸 🔊🔈🔇🔉📢 🔊🔈
Wow, that's a lot - thanks 🙏😎🎸
What a huge effort disassembling and reassembling that studio!! I respect your “never give up” attitude.
Thanks, as a guitar player I'm used to not giving up - however, in this case it was close...
When the Fryette is in standby mode, can you still attenuate the sound for indoor playing? The standby curve looks good in your test, but what functionality are we giving up if we choose the bypass mode? Thanks!!
Standby means no attenuation - however, if you want to use your cabinet you can simply use the flat/flat setting and dial in the required volume and tone on the Fryette. In that scenario the reactive load is your speaker - this concept works pretty well.
Thank you! Is there a way to also use headphones in combination with the Fryette?
@ For this some kind of speaker emulation is required I.e. an IR loader. So what you can do is to use an IR loader pedal at the line out e.g. from TC electronics or the Mooer Radar.
I see, thank you! Which option do you recommend: (All would need to provide attenuation, IRs and headphones) Option 1: Suhr Reactive Load IR (loud fan!!) Option 2: Fryette Power station and the TC/Mooer device? Option 3: ??? Budget isn’t really an issue….
@@bysykler4959 The Suhr is a good device - however, it does not support attenuation. So if you want to play at lower volume too, I would recommend the PS2. In case that you don't need attenuation the Fryette Powerload IR would be a good option.
