I'm an indie game dev. I love making videos where I show off projects and share things that happened while working on those projects.
I also make videos about anything else that comes to mind, really.

This is real nice to know, if I ever want to support a game I like, I can get it to up and coming even if I can't buy it!
You know what, I'll wishlist it. Your videos about optimizing game mechanics are so good, you deserve it.
Me too, and I might buy it if it's not too expensive
good video, i will now spent fifteen days making art assets so as to procrastinate
GIMP KING 👑
Lemme go make sure he isn't lying about the wishlist button working.
Ou god, there are a lot of things 🤯
Can't wait to play this
thank you
Steam using "capsule" as their naming convention for this will never not be weird.
Я тоже набираю виши, скоро релизнусь!
did i hear...one piece?
Wait, I can’t believe JD_Benefield did the cover art, that’s so neat! I follow them through their PRISM Project fanart!
The best for client, not for the devs... =/
Good to know Fo sho will use this if I become a video game dev in the future. I hope so at least.
Releasing a trial/beta version on itchio can also be a good idea. i'm not fully sure if it still holds up to the reputation of not having a lot of shovelware nowadays- but browsing tags is more likely to show new releases (plus, itchio lurkers are small indie game fanatics. they're MUCH more likely to play a game with no reviews). More html customization for the game's page. Before downloading any game, a tiny window pops up with an option to donate a custom amount to the developer. It's common to see a hyperlinked image to a game's steam page at the bottom once you've garnered enough traction. This in combination with your advice is what I tend to see most often work, plus a little luck!
Please make a age rating before publishing or your game won't be shown in Germany
Mfw i separately made each and every capsule art for my game 😂 Well, i did reuse some elements of it.
Some of game devs told me that to gain more wishlists in a game, always join the upcoming steam fests and always have a stream on the gameplay active on steam. I think this is a pretty good tip for devs who wants to get more popularity.
you made it a while ago already wishlisted
A thing about those 100$ is that if you reach a certain number of sold units you get them back. So they're just a temporal spending (if you sell enough).
$1000, essentially its a bet against valve if you can make a grand with your game, if you win you get your money back.
It's a bet
What the fuck would we do without you man
Smash next question
Game Dev learns the importance of generics.
Leaving this comment in the hopes I remember to come back in a couple hours when I have my computer to get on steam. I've been watching these videos way too much to not try the game.

Yk what? Why not write another reply. Itll be funny if we dont just destroy your inbox. *BUT YOUR ENTIRE PC!*
Just wishlisted it bud.
hell yea
Thats awesome, i had no idea it was so complex on the business side
Publishing is difficult, even in free pages like Itch you need to set up your page with html (and follow design principles if you want it to be successful)
@@sugarette_burn On the plus side: if your game has a lot of traditional programming, html shouldn't be too much of a chore to figure out. I found it a lot more user-friendly than say, working with editing html for a custom tumblr theme.
@@hanthonyc I started with Html, so when I eventually publish something Itch will be my goal. Anyway, generating unique user keys is something that I can't fully grasp yet, I should probably go do that
I already have it on my wishlist
gawd, so much work to create....yet another shitty sales page
huh?
Mobile?
Is it illegal to be this early
Yes, come with me, you're going to jail 😂
Great video as always!
Could you please make a gamedev secret about machine learning, component or classes? There is a lor of tutorials and explanations out there but none as clear as yours.
Problem is most (not all) open source software is inferior to proprietary one.
the wow invisible bunnies...just saying.
What engine are you using? Godot? Unity? Unreal? Maybe gdevelop even? I wanna make a game similar to yours and wanna know which engine you use to help with later development since I'm new to game development
oh, there is a big difference!
It's a free ball pit...
Got a lot of respect for you, man. If it's not too personal, I'd love to hear your insight on some of the non-development aspects of being an indie dev. I.e. how do you handle marketing (aside from your RUclips channel of course), do you ever feel burnout or pressure to post updates about the game, have you considered a publisher? I know that's a lot, so I don't expect you to answer all of them haha
I really hope and assume the ushroot is in the game ❤😂
I'm not experienced but for me it would be better if the "whoosh" had a sound with more impact, I don't know how to explain, with more bass perhaps?
Didnt know this! thanks for sharing!
Add some screen flash and you got a +PARRY
did you redraw it or how did you stretch it without stretching the pixels? and how did you do the leftover black pixels? looks fuckin amazin bro! true artist!!💪
This is great info, subscribed. What software do you use to actually make the game?
IMO camera should be locked horizontally to the player (and should pan further in the direction they're looking, so they can see ahead further) And vertically it should 'lag' down but not up, that is to say, when you start a jump the camera should follow slower, but when you fall it should never follow slowly and prevent you from seeing where you're landing.
that looks so much less jerky! That's great!
The lighting looks a lot better this way!
The motion is like night and day!
Another day another W video!! 🙏🏼 Glad to see you living your dreams
I can't wait to get my hands on this game... :D
