    Concerning electrical power, after plugging in and switching on power, I always check the unit body and frame with an AC circuit tester. This will te if the electric supply is grounded properly and could prevent a shock. It has happened. If so, I unplug and get it fixed or move.

    most new trailers have a single anchor point for safety chains now. Crossing them is pointless. They should have stuck with the 2 anchor points. I agree propane needs shut off, if you get in an accident, propane lines, hard or rubber can and will break/puncture and you have a deadly propane leak. Nothing to stop it from just emptying the tank on you. Which is why vehicles have fuel cutoffs so they don't "generally" keep pumping fuel out after taking a hit.

    Some of the trucking laws are really stupid and/or questionable. We all see the so called hot shots, the typically dialog pickup trucks pulling trailers with all kinds of loads. Well if the truck has its bed on it, then it’s a truck, but if it’s not on, then it becomes a tractor, and can legally carry much more weight. I realize people can add freight to the bed, but does taking the bed off really change how much weight it can handle drastically? I say no

  • @youngwolf20
    @youngwolf20 5 часов назад

    You should cross your chains, however it is not to make a cradle for the trailer lol. The fact is that they will hardly ever catch the trailer and keep it off the ground. Crossing the chains does help with turning tightly. You can confirm this by using a tape measure and see how much more it gives you without binding up. Of course as with all things, that only works with property mounted chains. The ones that are connected to the trailer at a single point is one not property mounted and two will not hold as much weight in thr event the trailer does come disconnected going down the road.

      Not in all states. Try going over 26,001 pounds without CDL in an RV, 19 states have non commercial CDL laws for that. More adding each year

      @@jeffhardman8293 if you live in the other 39 states it doesn't apply to you even if you travel there, TX requires an A non commercial driver's license. In other states you can tag tow your RV with a semi, non commercial vehicles are not required to stop @ weigh stations or a CDL. DOT CDL regs are based on GCVWR over 26,000 lbs but any vehicle with a DOT # & MC authority is required to stop @ scales. Additionally disconnected your trailer can be 500 lbs over GVWR & once connected weight transfers to tow vehicle bringing axle weight under limit.

    At this very moment there are 2 RUclips channels (finding our someday) and (today is someday) out there driving around in free (Class C) RV loaners that don't fit their RV lifestyle. These RV fools have these 2 units jammed packed with most of their stuff from their Class A and Travel Trailer. I'm not talking about 100 LBS to 250 LBS over their Cargo Carrying Capacity, their driving around 500 LBS to 750 LBS over it, and when you call these people out, they just laugh or ghost you when you post a comment about it. The only way i can see your #3 law being enforced, is by making all RV's and Travel Trailers stop at all weight stations too. Just think how much extra revenue these states could bring in by making everyone stop and write tickets for everyone over their Cargo Carrying Capacity limit.

      I had never heard that your shouldn’t run down the road with Propane on until this year. I have been RVing for many decades. Now I haven’t been on the east coast or through any significant tunnels in my RV (5th Wheel) as I am in CA and have only taken my RV to Oregon and Arizona and my grandparents took their EV to a few other western states. Please, what is the danger of running your propane and your refrigerator running down the road? I hear in the video it could blow up. Yeah, in a collision where the system is physically damaged and that is the same issue if your propane is turned off and the tanks are ruptured. I can understand long tunnels to a small degree but not in general.

      Absolutely correct in many cases. Local "ordinance". Actually constitutionally unlawful to create these "rules" but they are "legal". Ordinances like that have occasionally been overturned in courts but it's hardly worth the trouble and those municipalities typically just rewrite the ordinance and go back to conducting "business". Stealing vehicles and collecting money through fines.@@Thecampingloop

      The purpose of a truck stop is to rest and make the roads safer. Truckers that I've spoken to while parking overnight at truck stops are 95% rather you stop and rest there than run them off the road because you're too tired to drive safely. They only ask you don't "camp" there. Get the rest you NEED, then move on - just like they do.

    Wow. California less restrictive on much of this. Walmart parking varies from cities and counties, Bass Pro as well. Just call them and ask. (If you’re not driving a POS ((piece of shit)) most local cops won’t care but it’s probably a haven for homeless so beware). The CHP is almost non-existent in CA any more (long story). Just don’t stand out. I’m currently in Michigan on the UP. Northern California and some Central California have many beautiful destinations. I’m retired LE and trust me when I say, if you get pulled over and have a drivers license, registrations, and proof of insurance, most cops are impressed because most can’t do this. (Maybe a warning). Just don’t draw attention to yourself’s and you will be fine. Oh, BTW, stay far away from the Bay Area and the greater LA (not Louisiana) I’m talking Los Angeles) and you will be fine. You just might need a few extra dollars for fuel. @@vh3531 yes. I worked @ Folsom for 10 years, hated it. Went to a sheriifs dept where employees are loved. Such a different workforce. I much prefer arresting them than babysitting them. Much more responsibility but well worth it.

    I had one RV park nailed me for not having my sewer hose on a flex bridge. The park said it was a city ordinance that no sewer hoses were allowed to touch the ground :o

    As for State Parks our experience is, if the Ranger don't see beer cans/liquor bottles you'll be all right. That goes for being loud and obnoxious behaver too. So be cool and enjoy an adult Coke or an adult lemonade on me.
