"Unpickable" locks; that needs "Unbendable" Key Dude, you may vapourise by the goverment, as military/spies/agents do need some level of pickability then perfectly-"unpickable" locks. also concerning human morals/ethics, the harder you make penetration (picking lock here), harder the blunt force will be choose (the door breaking 'loud' but better effort.)
I’m still quite new and I never know if it’s me flubbing it or if I need a different pick. Love watching pros switch out their tools - gives me the feeling that I should be testing deeper hooks when I get stuck. Cheers
Why didn't he open it all the way.
The fact that it took that long to pick is really impressive.
Not exactly a fair test. Allowing an expert lock picker to go at this goes to show that given enough time and skill, no lock is un-picakble. The overwhelming majority of non experts attempting to pick this lock would fail.
I wonder how long it would have taken LPL to get in
Incredible job
Lockpicking community continues to be a benchmark (for me) of just how sesnsitive human fingers are, how much can we feel. Sidenote: Am I tripping or is somebody having a good time in the background in 7:42-8:05? (very faint noise though)
@@juliuszkocinski7478 LMAO that’s a hungry yet stubborn cat insisting that it’s bowl be completely full. I had to really listen to hear it.
The best unpickable lock is the one which isn't there.
I like dom locks. They feel Like you're getting no where then pop it's open.
@@left_hand_loki agreed, especially on the RN. Just tickle max lifts until it finally gives up
Great 👍 Strong MTL 800. 💪
Excellent work
Honestly. Even though it isn't unpickable in a controlled environment. I'd still trust this lock over most others on the market. No average, run of the mill theif is gonna sit at a door for the 4.5, 5 hours it took for you to figure it out and slowly pick your way through this lock.
@@jonjacob1962 I agree but also keep in mind now that I’ve picked the lock and shown the methods used the next person to attempt it will have a much smaller learning curve and not need anywhere near the length of time I did to pick the lock. I can pick the lock faster now after understanding how the mechanisms interact. What you saw was the first ever open as it would have been disingenuous of me and a disservice to the efforts of Works by Design to upload a well polished and rehearsed video making the lock look much easier.
That was a good fight. Nice picking Jim. 😎🖖
@@ParkysPlace thanks Parky!
Always a pleasure watching you pick
@@CroLlama thanks for checking it out.
Brilliant, just brilliant. The comments are amazing, when worlds collide 😂
Awesome pick my friend
Thanks for checking it out!
Very nice picking. Thanks for the tips on how to pick this lock. I have a DOM Plura with the same keyway and wondered what kind of pins were in it as I wasn't understanding the feedback I was getting. Thanks for this video, cheers
Plura should have at least two spools and the rest of the drivers will be like what I was picking here. Instead of getting the open after the tapered pins are set you’ll get a false set and just need to set the two spools.
@@georgiajim2260 Thanks for the information this is good to know, cheers
In a dream I was having, we were all talking about a book someone wrote about your life, Jim. You did some wild stuff 😂😂 Way to run that Dom, sir!!!
That was definitely a dream, I’m a very boring guy😂
@@georgiajim2260 🤣🤣🤣
saw this after getting recc'd worksbydesign's video showing how they made the v2 a week or two ago. really surprised you were able to pick that with just a pick and and 2 torsion bars
making it look easy nice job bud
@@septclues thanks boss
nice!
Great video! As mostly a hobby picker i haven't been able to justify the purchase aswell as i am terrible with putting things together 😂
@@jeremy.-.s lol it’s an achievement just to put it together lol. If you do get one I recommend some blue or purple loctite on the screw posts to help keep everything snug.
To anyone unfamiliar with lockpicking, I've seen "unpickable" locks of all sorts of designs, magnets, unique keys, several simultaneous keys, I've seen the lockpickinglawer pick a gun safe with an orange juice bottle. If a lock takes a professional lockpicker more than 10 minutes it is not only extremely effective, but such a serious deterrent to the average lockpicker that they will straight up give up and try either another lock or another kind of entry if at all possible, not that sticking to picking would be any more effective even with a detailed knowledge on how the lock works.
Sweet man, yeah idk why but I thought I was getting clicks out of those. But I must have just been mistaken.
@@left_hand_loki probably because of the counter rotation they give, they try to center themselves in the groove in the housing when pushed.
Nice work! New to this channel, since the unpickable lock.
@@avnut5517 thanks for checking it out and coming back!
Sweet pick!!
@@SeeStuDo thanks Stu!
Very nice
Thanks man
The only unpickable lock is the one that isn't on the door that's completely welded shut.
It would be less hassle, if you chisel the door away.
I'm an automotive locksmith. I probably couldn't open one of these locks with a key. :) I just wrote because I appreciate your no nonsense honest review style. I could go on for hours about automotive lockouts and programming keys. I actually never enjoyed picking locks. It's wild to me it actually became a sport. To me it's more of a nuisance when you have to do it for work. When I have to pick a lock which is very rare I can get them open if there is no other way. If there is another way not so much. I guess it's all in the attitude. Being an old school automotive locksmith what i did become really good at was impressioning. That's mostly a lost art now but also mainly useless for modern cars.
Cool done ✔️
I talked shit but if it stopped jim for 14 minutes, its a damn good lock.
Congratulations! Picking this lock is a great display of skill. I'm very impressed.
That's crazy bro, that's an accomplishment and a half.
@@left_hand_loki thanks bud
Personal opinion, this is by far the best design. Any locks should be pickable however no locks should take -1sec to be picked _insert masterlock here_ Why do i say this? Because if you loose the key a lock picker will still get you out of trouble but it will stop any attemps from criminal from trying as it would take too much time.
locks exist to make it a bigger crime and to keep animals out. Opening a door when it's not locked and stealing your TV might not be breaking and entering depending on where you are.
Lol, I got one of these kesos laying at home so I optimisticaly took it for a spin. Couple of failed atempts later I see that even well experienced pickers take a while to get it open. I guess it is going to sit for quite a while in my naughty bucket
@@CroLlama i’ve picked a few now and that particular one was a monster. I bought it off another picker and it took him around 45 minuted to get it the first time.
@@georgiajim2260 in any case, that was one hell of a pick. Very nice
What a fulfilling experience it must have been for you - congratulations Jim. Just watching the design on WBD and now seeing you work on it makes me feel ile part of it 😂😂 can only imagine how great you must feel. Masterpiece display of picking and engineering.
... now it is known. This lock system is no longer safer than any other known lock system out there.
If someone has so much time to pick it he can as well just get out power tools and force whatever this locks open. So i'd say it's a great lock.
easy fix... make the key drum stick a little bit of the front shield so its imposible to get anything around it...
Overbuilt locks like this are when you bust out the Deviant Ollam strats and attack the hinges or fitment or something.
I have a couple and they are "weird." First attempt out of the box i just brushed 5 and it opened. I think the pins like to stay stuck. Weak springs? Idk. They feel a bit crunchy when I try to pick them. Ive gotten them open several times but i dont know why they feel weird to pick. Im blaming the internals 😂
They are pretty badly built, i’ve had them jam up while picking
That's unbelievable Jim! Great job opening that monstrosity! ❤
Thanks!
Sure it's not a 100% unpickable. It took a highly skilled lock pick over 4 hours, with detailed schematics of the complete assembly of the lock. 4 hours on his workbench in a vice, sitting on his comfy chair. And after discovering how to pick it it still takes 18 minutes for him to open it. If this was on your house the chance of somebody being able to pick it is extraordinarily low.
Call mcnally now
he would zip and rake this lock really fast, like REALLY fast
Wow, just wow. I can't believe the audacity of this guy. So, you picked the hardest lock in the world, huh? Big deal. I mean, sure, it took you hours to meticulously manipulate each pin and use tools that look like they belong in a sci-fi movie, but let's talk about that lock. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. That lock, with its so-called "unpickable" design, sat there all smug and secure, thinking it was invincible. And you, with your fancy lockpicking set and years of practice, just had to come along and ruin its day. But let's be real, the real star here is the lock. The sheer complexity of its mechanism, the flawless precision of its construction-it's a work of art. And yet, here you are, flaunting your so-called victory over a piece of metal. Did you really need to show off every little detail? The camera lingering on the lock's intricate components, as if we all needed a reminder of how "difficult" it was. And those dramatic pauses, please. We get it, you picked it. No need to rub it in the lock's face. But hey, congratulations, I guess. You defeated the hardest lock in the world. I hope you're proud of yourself, overshadowing the true marvel of engineering with your self-congratulatory video. Unbelievable. (Congratulations jim ❤)
