Thanks Dean - sorry I missed this comment. Appreciate your appreciation of these vids - sorry but not sure when I’ll turn the camera on again. Hoping you are getting out in Arizona 🇺🇸🪓🔥🏕️ Cheers

Sorry I missed this comment. All good thanks and I hope the same with you Benjamin. Not sure about filming again - it was taking a lot of time uploading, editing etc. But really appreciate you touching base. Cheers and take care 🏕️🔥🍺
Sad to hear no more videos from you, would really have liked to see some even if it was only one every now and then. Glad to hear that your doing good though. All the best.
What a shame that you can't just go out and enjoy nature without having to hide. 😒
Liked this video as much this time as I did the first time I watched it. The best to you and yours. 👍😉🍺
Thanks Mate. Keep safe and well my Friend 🏕️🔥👍
Giles! Where are you?
Still in the woods Buddy but not filming these days - sorry. Hoping you are able to get out yourself and thanks for commenting 👍
I was searching for your videos because it has been a while since I last saw your video. After seeing all the comments, I am glad you are doing ok. Wish you all the best.
Thanks very much and all the best to you too. Hoping you are doing well. Cheers 🏕️🔥
Your videos are still damn good. I do enjoy rewatching them. Best to you, my friend.
Thanks as always - and best to you too my Friend. Hoping you are keeping well 🏕️🔥
Hi Giles. This video just popped up on my iPad and I just had to watch again. Still a good one. Here’s hoping you and yours are well and happy. 🍺Steven
Cheers to you too Steven. Take care Buddy 🏕️🔥
Please come back and make some videos your missed
Thanks for that. Not sure I can oblige yet but appreciate the kind words 👍🏕️🔥
still the best bushcraft videos on RUclips .
Thank you very kindly as always Sir. I hope you and all yours are well. Cheers 🏕️
Thank you very kindly as always Sir. I hope you and yours are all well. Cheers 🏕️
Regards giles wherever you are 😊
Thanks 😀🔥🏕️👍
Hi Giles, hope your doing well. What is your make of gloves you use? Neil
Thanks Neil. I mostly use an ordinary working glove but the handling surfaces have to be leather. I think the gloves in this video are made in Poland with goat skin for the front working surface (ART.MaSten ?). Cheers 🔥🏕️
Hello Giles love the videos you’ve inspired this 50 year old to get out and wild camp the videos are amazing please please more videos the best on RUclips 😊😊😊
Thanks very much for those kind words. Sorry but not sure if/when I will turn the camera on again 🤔 Thx for watching 👍🏕️🔥
Will be waiting best camping videos on RUclips
Mate I hope your well, 30 somthing here who loves your videos and really respects the effort you put into simplicity. Hope life is good your end as haven’t seen a video in a while
Thanks very much Rob. Appreciate the kind thoughts. Yeah, all good here thank you, and still out and about although not always wild camping. The time taken to edit a video just got the better of me !!! So I stopped filming in the end. I hope you are well and getting out as much as possible. Cheers and take care 🏕️🔥👍
Hope you are keeping well? It is nice to rewatch your videos from time to time. Great information and people will learn.
Thanks very much. Yeah, we can learn a lot from each other as we try various methods etc. All fine here thanks and I hope the same for you 🙂 Cheers 🏕️
That was a very enjoyable video. Thank you for the history on the tarp. Haven't seen a recent video hope everything is well with you. Appreciate your efforts!!. Be safe Arizona Dave. I finally going to go on my first camp. I'm doing it on an e scooter with a backpack.
Thanks and great to hear from you Arizona Dave. All fine here. Getting out as much as I can but a lot of it is family camping. And I’m not filming these days. I hope you are well my Friend. And that E scooter camping sounds interesting. I hope it goes well and the weather is kind for you. Cheers and take care 🇺🇸🇬🇧👍
Your last video was a good one, Giles. I really like how you did your fire 🔥, with the reflectors and feeding the logs in. It did the job and kept you warm. Warm and cozy works, and that is your camps. Hope you are well and happy, Mate. 😉🙏🍻
Thanks Steven. Yeah, this is still probably my favourite fire setup. Hoping you are well too Buddy. Happy camping 🏕️👍
Giles, just thought I would saw “Hi”, and see how you are doing. I stop by every so often to re-watch one of your videos. I really like them. I’ve also found several other videos where the people use animal skins like you do. One is in Finland and another, his name is Carn, camps somewhere in the northeast of this country, but he’s originally from England. Carn uses old school stuff like you do. Interesting fellow. If you’d like any links, let me know. Well, take care My Friend, and I hope things are going well for you. God Bless, from northern Illinois, USA. 😊👍🍻
Thanks for touching base Steven and I hope you are well. I haven’t discovered that chap you mention on YT. But I do enjoy Kusk Bushcraft which is Canadian based I believe. Glad you are still enjoying the ‘old school vibe’ too Steven 👍 Cheers 🇺🇸🇬🇧
You cannot beat canvas for camping.
Giles you understand the secret of great comedy: keep a straight face!
Glad you enjoyed it Charles- appreciate your comments thanks🔥
Giles, if you don't mind me saying, you're not terribly 'stealthy'. I'm wondering - have you ever been caught?!
Not yet !!! Thanks for commenting Charles 👍
Beautiful country 🔥
I like the size and simplicity of your kit . I enjoyed the Video 🔥
Thanks Robert - minimal kit is nice to take out I believe 👍🏕️🔥
Excellent Video Sir 🔥
Thank you Robert - sorry for the tardy response but your comment has only just appeared on my account 🤔 Cheers 🔥
My god I totally relate to this I live without synthetic gear all winter here in long winter lonesome blowing winds snowy alaska /I love the natural fiber wholesome life!
Hi Giles, are you using a 1L or 750ml pot? I have been using a 2L Bush Pot and finding it too big. Looking to change to a smaller pot.
Hi Dan. In this video the pot is a cheap 1.2L from eBay - but it does a great job and is robust too. Latterly I have had great success with a 750mm titanium pot which cuts down on weight and space but it is still possible to cook a meal (for one). Thanks for the comment too 🙂👍
@@gilesbinyon Hi Giles, thank you for getting back to me. Currently, I have purchased a .750ml stainless steel bush pot. I am thoroughly enjoying traveling lite but right. The only heavy item I now carry is my two(2) 1.5L smart water bottles. Thanks again, Giles.
Great set up Giles.Any new videos coming out soon?
Thanks very much Vincent. I don’t switch the phone camera on these days - I guess it is laziness - especially when it comes to the long time it takes me to edit a video. Cheers and happy camping 🔥🏕️👍
Hi Giles, I tried this easy feed fire today. I must admit I certainly made life easier in terms of processing fuel. And A little hotter as you say due to the frame. I think I'll have another go. Do you still do this or have you gone back to the normal size wood fuel? Neil
Hi Neil, sorry for such a late reply. I hope you’re finding the ‘easy feed fire’ useful. I certainly do - use it most of the time now. Have also found a cheaper style twig box stove in which longer sticks can be fed into - an even smaller version of the easy feed fire but requiring almost constant feeding unfortunately. Thanks for the comment and happy camping to you 🔥🏕️👍
@@gilesbinyon good to hear you're still using the easy feed. Out of interest which twig stove do you use now? I'll take a look. Neil
Hi Neil - hoping you are well. Yeah, I have had some success with the Chinese ‘af artisan’ which is just a titanium exact copy of the Lixada stainless steel. (These are the 128mm square base X 162mm height). The stainless steel version seems better quality but is, of course, heavier. Sadly they do need a lot of tending/feeding like all ‘box stoves’ - but longish sticks can be fed into the rather large feeding holes. Cheers - happy camping 🏕️👍
Come back Giles we miss you.
Hey thx very much Yeti Dodger. Always nice to hear from you and sorry slow reply. Hoping all good with you 🏕️🔥🌲🌳
Hi Giles hope your doing ok seen all your videos now enjoyed every one of them. It would be nice to see you up loading videos again. Going to watch them all again.thank you so much👍👌❤️
Thanks very much Jeff and glad you liked the vids. Not sure I’ll switch on the phone camera so much though - the editing was becoming a pain. Appreciate the kind comment though. Take care 🌲🏕️👍
Hi Giles, hope all is well and you're getting out as much as possible, even with winter lasting the best part of these past 12 months 😂
Thank you very much Vegan Wanderer and sorry slow reply. All fine here thanks. Yeah, this weather has been just so wet - it has deffo curtailed some camping. But I am lucky to be able to get out - but less wild camping alright. I hope this finds you and all yours well too. And thx for touching base - take care 🌲🏕️🔥👍
Hi Giles, I love your vids, very educational and inspiring, many wise words to aspire to! I am going to watch your vids back and make a list of things to copy! I'm already looking to swap over to an ex-military rucksack, something with a frame I want. I hope you're keeping well, and thanks for the quality content. Whatever you're up to, look after yaself. Will 👍
Thanks very much for those kind and positive words Will. And sorry for slow reply. Really glad you got something from the vids. Good luck with the ex-military gear. It is sometimes heavy compared to modern synthetics but often tougher and more suited to ‘bushcraft’ style camping. Cheers 🏕️🌲🔥👍
@@gilesbinyon No probs. And the military gear is often made of tough stuff... like the men who use it! 😂 Look after yourself and I'll catch you on the flip side 👍
Hi Giles !
What backpack do you use great videos as as ways
Thanks John - sorry slow reply - I missed this comment. Yeah, in this video it’s a Yugoslav backpack/haversack from an eBay shop. Cheers 🌲🏕️👍
Must have missed this one when you originally put it out, people are always going to have opinions, just do what you enjoy, and bring along an extra blanket :)
Thanks John. Hope you liked this one and I really like your wise words 😄👍Cheers 🏕️🌲
You still there? Its been a year. I hope your doing well.
Hi there James, I hope you are well too my Friend. All fine here just not switching the camera on these days - sorry 🌲🔥🏕️
Hi Giles, another quick question if I may. How did you make the fireguard in front of your groundsheet? Details about materials and the pins into the ground. Thanks for this video....very authentic
Hello again Neil. Yeah, the fire guard is just thin aluminium plate very similar the windshield/reflector. I made the 2 sheets approximately the same size as a windshield panel so they pack in the same little pouch. So about 25cm by 8cm. Cut them a little longer to allow to bend the ends around an M5 bolt or heavy nail. Then you can thread a cut-down barbecue skewer (20cm) through each end to secure to the ground. You can spray them green if you like too (stove paint for the heat). Cheers 🔥🏕️
Come on Giles get the bloody camera out again for gods sake 😅
Ha ha !!! Hi Oliver, thx for the comment. Not sure about switching on the camera ….although it’s tempting because I’m always trying to upgrade and improve things 🏕️🔥🌲👍
Hi Giles haven’t seen you for a couple of years hope you are well, I still watch your videos still how wild camping should be done.
Thanks Nick - all fine here and hoping all good with yourself too. I’m not filming these days manly due to the editing time. It sometimes crosses my mind to switch on the camera as I am still learning and updating. But doubt it at the moment. Thx for the very nice comment 😃🔥🏕️👍
@@gilesbinyon hi my old mate, really pleased to hear back from you. I know what you mean about the editing time it takes an age that’s why I never film anything. Bit more news I’ve bought a camper van lol. It’s for the wife really, I take my camping gear and leave her on a site for a few days then I go off on my own lol this way I get best of both worlds no earache of the wife and camp in my tent on my own all over the country I love it. Anyway take good care my friend and stay safe.
@@nickollerenshaw2883Ha ha !!! Actually we got a Camper late last year too !!! Not sure I’m brave enough to go off wild camping and leave my good lady in the van 😂 !!! Sounds like you’ve got a great plan there though !!! Enjoy and take care Bud 🏕️👍
Hi Giles, new to your page but I've learnt a lot from your videos so thank you. Appreciate your not posting but could you explain how you made the frame for the Siberian log flame and the materials you used. Kind regards
Hey Neil thx for watching the vids. Yeah, the frame for the sticks is just a couple pcs of 28cm long, M5 threaded bar. One end of each is filed to a blunt point and also a couple of wing-nuts screwed on each too. The cross support pc is a 20cm bit of strap spring steel (any steel bar reasonably stiff would do). A couple of 6mm slots close to each end allows the threaded bar to attach and fix by tightening the wing-nuts 😊👍🔥🏕️
Simply excellent mate.
Thank you kindly Martin - appreciated 😊🌲🏕️🔥
A terrific piece of comedy. So much so because I didn't expect you could also be a fine humorous type of person. Thank you for such an amusing video.
Thanks very much. I just tried to shake things up a bit with this one. Thank you for the nice comment - appreciated 🔥🌲👍
Hey miles, hope you're well, enjoy the vieos and common sense
Thanks very much. All fine here although not turning on the camera these days. Glad you enjoy the vids thx for letting me know 🏕️🌲👍
Your comment on the people who are out in the cold not because they chose to but due to very unfortunate circumstances are very much to the point. Did I get it right that you spent the night under the tarp WITHOUT any wool blanket or other form of cover over your body? That's amazing.
Thank you very much for the comment. Yeah, a lot of sad news from around the world. And yes, a night without a sleeping bag or wool blanket is possible with some woollen clothing and keeping close to a small fire. Although regular tending of the fire does result in a disturbed night sleep 🫤🌲🔥🏕️
Where's my favorite bushcraft camper. I miss you.
Thank you very much for that kind comment. Sorry I haven’t turned the camera on for a long while. Cheers 🌲🏕️🔥

If you could just complete ONE thought, just ONE time, that would be GREAT!
