    I'm 5 months out from breaking my ankle, and dealing with some stubborn peroneal tenosynovitis. I have rested, relaxed, iced, booted, and hone through 5 weeks of therapy with next to no progress. I haven't walked in 5 months, and even the therapy excercises cause my foot to re-swell. At what point would surgery be a consideration?

    • @DrNooreenIbrahim

      You prob need an MRI or further work up by a physician

    Thank you so much for this helpful advice! I am recovering from my second bunionectomy; and I’m now transitioning to walking in the boot. I didn’t use orthotic inserts in the boot the first time and that was a huge contributor to the pain! Added the insert and wow! Game changer! Also the foot levelers, didn’t know these existed - ordering some now because yes the pain in my hips and lower back from being uneven for so long was excruciating! Thank you thank you thank you!

    Thank you. I have completed 5 weeks in the boot, going into the 6th week. There is still a swelling pocket near the ankle that won't go down. Do you recommend starting PT at all, or just waiting out the 6-8 week time frame first? My ankle is weight baring.

    I'm scheduled. for surgery for hammertoe and bunion in October. I think I will be in a cast of some sort until placed in a cam boot. Do you think the Cryo/cold water therapy cuffs or pads are appropriate for my situation? or are they designed to be placed on a foot or body part that is not in a cast? (I'm looking at Don Joy and at Polar Ice systems on Amazon right now). I will also use an ice pack under my knee as you suggested. My son thinks that ice packs will stay cold in a cooler for a long time. The cooler could be placed near me. Do you have any experience with ice packs staying cold in a cooler?

    • @DrNooreenIbrahim
      @DrNooreenIbrahim 11 дней назад

      There are icing systems made that can be applied after sx that they put on in the OR. Ask your doctor about them. A cooler is fine. Anything to keep the ice forzen

    What kind of ice packs or bags work best for foot (bunion and hammertoe) and how do you keep the ice pack or bag on the foot? ace bandage perhaps?

    • @DrNooreenIbrahim
      @DrNooreenIbrahim Месяц назад

      Any kind will work. You just need ice. Even some ice cubes in a sandwich bag will work and whatever you can use to keep it on. You can also get specific ice bags that mold your foot that come with straps

    Thank you for this video! It was very helpful to me as I prepared for toe amputations. I would like to add that when showering, it has worked well for me to tie a kitchen-sized garbage bag on my legs and then wrap masking tape tightly around the bag just under where it is tied. Then you don't have to stick your leg outside of the shower because it is well sealed. Maybe this will be helpful to someone. Thanks again!

    So how long does it take to get rid of it? I have it in both toes, 2nd toe on the right foot, 5th toe (outer foot) on the right foot) for 2.5 months and 8 weeks, respectively. Nothing works at all and it's not getting better. Very annoying. A large nondisplaced fracture would've healed faster than this.

    I had bunion surgery 19 days ago on my right foot. I still have to fix my left foot. My bunions are pretty large. I woke up from surgery with no pain and walked out of the hospital about 3 hours after my surgery, using a post op shoe; but I had to walk on my heel. My surgeon said using a cane or crutches wouldn't be necessary but I can use them if I felt I needed to. I took pain meds for the first 2 days even though I didn't feel much pain. I just wanted to stay ahead of any pain that may have developed. I iced and elevated religiously for the first 2 weeks. I'm still elevating when I'm off my feet and I ice only when I'm on my feet for a long time and they start to get uncomfortable. I'll finally get to see what my foot looks like in 3 days when I get my bandages and stitches removed. I'll still have to wear the surgical shoe for another 3 weeks. It helps to prepare yourself before surgery by watching videos from people who went through the procedure as well as videos of the actual procedure. Reading all the comments on how painful the healing would be, I was prepared for the worse pain. Thank goodness I didn't experience any of that pain.
