Roller skiing race against a World Champion
The Most Dangerous Sport Round 2: Rollerski with a pro coach
Become Norwegian
We are back at the most dangerous sport, rollerski! Last time we learned how to stop the hard way, by hitting the ground (and hard!). This time we have brought the world's best coach, Ragnar Bragvin Andresen to see if he can coach some foreigners how to rollerski like a Norwegian - and this time race! Tune in to see if we are able to stay in one piece, and who is fastest between the Norwegian, the Dane, the Brit and the Kangaroo.
Norway is renowned for its national sport, cross country skiing, also known as Xc Skiing, so it’s no surprise that roller skiing was invented as a way to ‘ski’ throughout the year, primar...

Chasing Waves in the Arctic: A Surfer's Dream
Просмотров 6729 месяцев назад
We took a break from the snow and tested our nerve in the icy Arctic waters of Lofoten, for surfing! Norway probably isn’t the first place many people think of when it comes to surfing, but in fact Norway has several popular surfing locations, providing waves up to 12 ft! Just make sure you have a thick wetsuit as the water is icy cold! We can highly recommend Lofoten Surfsenter (link below), w...
Conquering the Arctic Circle: Ski Touring Adventure
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.9 месяцев назад
Another week, another type of skiing, and this time it’s ski touring! Known as randonee skiing in Norwegian, ski touring is skiing in the backcountry on unmarked / unpatrolled areas. We took to Lofoten, in the Arctic Circle in Northern Norway, to test our brand new ski touring equipment and experience the beauty of skiing mountains with views of the fjords. Skiing in norway is simple very acces...
We Went Backcountry Skiing Cabin to Cabin in Norway

We took our ski adventures to the next level with cabin to cabin (hytte til hytte) back country skiing in the Jotunheimen mountain region of Norway. Back country skiing, or ski touring, is similar to cross country skiing, but the main difference being the absence of groomed / prepared tracks. Our main sponsor for this episode, DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) maintains approx 550 cabins all...

Like orienteering with a map, but this time whilst skiing, and minus the compass… In this episode of ‘doing cool Norwegian activities with a pro’, we take on ski orienteering in the Norwegian mountains. XC ski orienteering has developed from the sport of regular orienteering. Being Norway, it of course takes place in the snow on skis! This sport of cross country ski orienteering is both a menta...
The beauty of Night XC skiing in Norway
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Cross country skiing, Norway’s national sport. Only difference? It’s nighttime. But once again, we’re at arguably Norway’s best cross country skiing location: Sjusjøen. Also known as Nordic skiing, sometimes ski touring, or simply XC skiing, this sport is growing increasingly popular thanks to the combination of exercise, technique, and often stunning scenery. The combination of head torches an...
We tried Roller Skiing on a Treadmill with a Pro

Roller skiing is dangerous enough, but strapping on a pair of roller ski and walk on a treadmill seems even more dangerous for new beginners in the sport of cross country Skiing like us. Holmenkollen, Oslo, is home to one of the world’s most advanced cross country ski training centres. Many Olympic XC skiing athletes and world champion competitors from across the world train here at the Trening...
We Broke a Cross Country Skiing World Record w. Northug
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.Год назад
In this episode we made it into the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s biggest ski lesson, led by Olympic champion Petter Northug. 600 people came along to learn some cross country ski tips from the world champion, and of course we didn’t turn down the opportunity to pick up some advice ourselves. It seems only fitting that the world record would be broken in Norway, the country where XC ...

104 km Dog Sledding Trip with Funkygine

Our first dog sledding trip in Sjusjøen back in November clearly gave us the bug, as we couldn’t resist going back for another outing - but this time slightly more extreme… We teamed up with Jørgine Vasstrand (FunkyGine) and Morten Sundli, as Jørgine prepares for the legendary dog sledding race, Femundløpet, later this year. We covered over 100km across beautiful snow and ice capped landscape i...

In the 60's I lived in Seattle and went hiking at least once a month. In the early days me and my hiking friends used a book by the husband and wife team the Springs: 100 Hikes in the Cascades. As the years went by us, now experienced, hikers used the same book (actually 2) as hikes to avoid because of people. Will the same happen here?
