I visited Lahore in 1985 in the summer vacations of my intermediate exams. I fell in love with Lahore. Especially the Lake and area around it. I wish i was born in Lahore too and experienced it as a child. The only confounding variable was the presence of the new age politicians with their ill gotten wealth alongwith generals who are after the same. I had an uneasy feeling about it, and now in 2024 i can say with confirmity that i saw it coming.

My parents moved to Lahore from Bombay in 47. Had a memorable struggling time and my older 4 siblings still remember those times. They stayed mostly in model town. They have sweet beautiful memories of Lahore and the people.

My nanu was born in undivided India and had learned Urdu in his school. He was a teen when India got partitioned and when he started his practice as a lawyer in Ludhiana, Punjab, India… I remember him converting all the witness statements and FIRs in Urdu from Punjabi and reading them because he was more comfortable in the language.
