Why bother stitching the straps before skyving? I think the order of operations needs to be changed there.

I noticed that you no longer add the wooden “shank”. Did they not last? The hole through the rubber sole, I assume is to accommodate changing the toe thong. Were are they wearing out? Doesn't that expose the inside to dirt and wear? The nylon toe thing can be abrasive. Is it better than a folded leather thong? Thank you! M

Great video Dennis Is there any chance that you could share where you got and the type of leather that you prefer for the black middle piece and the toe strap? I know you said it was veg tan leather but in my mind veg tan is raw and not colored like it is for the material you used? Gary Quedenfeld

Okay so I placed my first comment directly after recognizing the 'mascot' on your shirt but hadn't yet seen you fully in action. Your even keeled monotone deliverance is entertaining and at times Hilarious!! The fact that you repeat over and over with the purpose of never ending the most important message of all -being that not having certain tools Is Not A Deal Breaker - as this is what so many of us subconsciously look for as a valid excuse for not trying to accomplish new and challenging projects. All that excellent mentoring shit aside, as I mentioned in my first statement I was floored to actually *LOVE* the design of the boots and the awesome swell shoelaces are an extra detail that is exactly the type of thing I add to further individualize my personal style to make it exclusively my own, even if it's only tiny details that only I will know about outside of those with a keen Hawkeye and a sense of curiosity. I'm usually so frustrated with these videos because of how inaccessible they are despite being labeled DIY or any of the other illogical issues that don't seem to concern them as click baiters that I leave regretting the waste of time and risen blood pressure. Instead I was So impressed with you and your content that I Had to subscribe!! It doesn't matter to me if this just so happens to be the only video that contains topical matters that appeal to me, I'd watch your videos just to continue reassurance that the adult youth of today aren't all susceptible to the grimmer, more dystopian shortcuts that are becoming the norm in place of real human beings who understand that life is nothing without balances and the best way to learn is by making mistakes... But most important of all is the fact that we are taking action and Trying. Thank you!!

I crossed my fingers and thumbed through all the comments hoping that just one, at the very least, recognized the hat tip toward the Descendents your Leathercraft shirt is displaying but my heart was broken to find none! Even if it IS a candidate for a Cease and Desist order from the middle aged band member's lawyer, I am elated to know that these types of reminders are out there keeps the conversation alive. That aside, thank you for the invaluable tutorial ! It makes it that much more inspiring when you have created a pair of boots that Really appeal to me -which is rare because I wear vintage era military issue combat boots and swoon over antique boots that I either can never afford or are remakes that always seem to somehow miss the mark in recreating the true soul of the design. I love these but despite having what most call a hoarder collection of tools, I don't have most of what it takes to make these. One Day....

really not bad at all for a self taught first try!! good job! but pleeeasepleaseplease add the information to your videos that you are not a pro shoemaker (at least not yet). people will think its the real shit and repeat your mistakes instead of questioning them. beginning with the video title. this is a hand welt not a goodyear welt. this is something where its important to be honest about. to show respect to trained shoemakers and for yourself to acknowledge that you have some way to go... helps you get better! but cool that you show interest in our craft and share your journey :) also if you (or anyone) want any tipps feel free to ask here. i love to share what i know! also: where you able to get the last out, with the nails in the insole still in place? (happened to the best of us ;) )

I am definitely making a pair of these. I’m just a little confused about the leather that wraps around the part that goes between your toes. I didn’t see how you made that. It looks that you cut the two pieces of leather even but then after you stitched them together I noticed the center stitch with green around it. ??? I hope this makes sense.

Good Day! I just gone my machine yesterday and I've already been messing around with each of the cartridges to see what it will do. I think I've come to the conclusion that this machine is going to be awesome in conjunction with my tooling stamps to get to the look I've been unsuccessful achieving with stamps alone. I am one of those who you refer to as not fully on board with the western art (I'm a CA surfer/beach girl...) The patterns I prefer are difficult to find in leathercrafting. Looking forward to making those patterns myself now! Thank you so much for all your hard work ~ I appreciate you! I'm off to scout out your project videos using this machine!! /subbed!
