Dennis, How do these hold up to wear? I have been thinking of making a pair of slides, and was curious if the paint would wear off, or the tooling would flatten from regular use. It looked like you just used tan kote then some of your wax (which i got and is awesome) as a finish. My first pair probably won't be tooled to get proof of concept, but i figured you were the guy to ask. Also asked the wife for a "sneaker kit" for xmas and am gonna try my hand at that coming up. I don't think i am ready to go full out with lasts and such quite yet, but i enjoy watching you do the boots and shoes.
The tooling a paint holds up a lot better than people think. I definitely suggest doing the proof of concept first. It takes a few pair to get the hang of making the sandals. Also I agree with you on getting a snicker kits before investing so much into full on shoe making. That is really smart.
