I know this video is old, but it just occurred to me that I believe “The Child”/“The Dead Boy” etc is actually Nightwish, his creative outlet. 100% the band was Tuomas’ “baby”!

Wait there are two versions of Astral Romance and the one you analysed is the 2001 version! You will notice he changed the last verse. Astral Romance in AFF is hopeful while Astral Romance in Over the Hills And Far Away is bitter.

Sacrament of Wilderness is my favorite song and when I met tuomas in 2018 on the decades tour I asked him what the inspiration for that song was he said and I quote " the domestication of wolves that was the original idea"

this songs length is epic but the changes the sounds go through they were quite groundbreaking as far as songwriting and arrangement like knowing how something is going to sound when put with this sound or that one and just like the cool contrasts of light and dark between floor and gommens i think is his name but her absolutely beautiful solo there that was pretty and special and then shorty after the drums and guitars start come back in the mix and take it to whole other level with that heavy drums and riffs and the fact that a 21 year old floor could get to those higher registers in her voice cause wow beautiful raw power really cool and some awesome progressive metal

this band at that time put simply they were way ahead of their time with what sounds are appealing when put with other sounds like a choir

I loved this style on her. She was absolutely gorgeous, iconic, the moment here. Can I just say I hate her styling in NW? It is atrocious, even comical at times. still love her as a singer and amazing person tho

at first I could not understand how can one reject Tuomas. He was so gorgeous, smart, sensitive, imaginative. No forreal, we all had our panties in a twist for him in the 2000s😅 But then I grew up and analyzed how he treated her, I think he wanted to control her. It was not love, it was an obsession.How he and the band treated her, would not fly 20 years later.especially the Guadalajara incident.Time did prove Tarja was not how they portrayed her in that infamous letter. She did not desearve that. It was such a cowardly, immature gesture and I hope they all regret it. I can only hope one day Tuomas will make a public apology. But damn, they looked so wholesome and beautiful together in interviews, I think they really sold the image of their relationship.They really looked so friendly towards each other, you can see they have known each other since forever, grew up together and created something magical together. I am still bitter about how things ended. Not as bitter as Tuomas, obviously!

This is great. I just realize that I really need to go much more for Floor's single productions as I did with the nightwish ones. Is it a shame to say I am in love with her?

I feel like Serene is about being a mother. "Dream high and I open up the sky" would mean that as a mother she wants to give every possibility to her child.... her child just has to dream about it. There are other lyrics aa well in that skng that lead me to that conclusion. I think Shadow Play is at least partly about the stroke she had in 2018 and how she survived emotionally from. "Life is a warning, I don't want to risk it anymore. I want to leave this place so wrong. It left me terrified to lose all I am living for" This would suit to that theory. Tarja realised how she could have lost everything in the matter of seconds. And the other part of what youl talked about what happened with Nightwish.

Hey! Huge Nightwish fan here. I always tried to balance an opinion that his lyrics could be about someone else, or Tarja. It really is hard to know for certain. One interesting piece of evidence to support the Tarja theory (alongside everything else) is that post Dark Passion Play, not only did Tuomas eventually find himself in a relationship/marriage, his love songs just have not been the same (or even existent) since. He had clearly romantically moved on. Excellent videos! Great breakdown of his genius lyrics.

I wish, Tuomas would not have hated himself, but Marcelo instead. He should have given him a fist in the face, honestly 😅.

It is so tragic how people can be so not in touch with themselves, that they choose their ego over love... I can't believe to this day, the relationship with Marcelo was true love. But some people unfortunately don't have the courage to let someone so close to their heart...

This isn't a venue but a television studio. Kopspijkers was a Dutch talk show. It was boring i.m.o., but the best thing was that they always ended with live music; and very often something relatively unknown. That's why the audience is sitting. I think this might have been the first time Floor was on television. This is totally not her audience, but she didn't seem to care.

In the previous video, I mentioned how important this "ocean" would be, probably because they had moments together, maybe as kids, I dunno. I really guess something happened between them in this scenery of ocean, water, trees, forests and such. "Ghost love score", to me, is the proof of that! Again, you're doing a great job here. Also, I had this impression after watching this video, I hope I'm not too late to comment on this, since the video is from 2022. You know, there's this "ocean" appearing here and there in the songs. I guess this "ocean" may be related to a special place in Kitee. In "Beauty of the Beast", he seems to recall some sort of memory between them, and the scenery he depicts seems to show a natural place surrounded by woods and water. I googled the city in a map, and it happens that there's some sort of lake there. My impression is that Tuomas confessed Tarja a very long time ago in a place like this, probably during a private moment of them in this depicted place. And she dropped him, and since then he was trying to capture her heart. I think this feeling is with him since they were kids, as many comments below said, Kitee was a very small city where everyone knows everyone, and probably Tuomas already kept an eye on her since that time.

Man, I'm amazed I just found you and your channel. I've been listening to NW since my teen times. NW is huge to me, I grew up reading their lyrics and translating them, and in the end I became an English teacher. To my dismay, it never had crossed my mind the fact those songs were mostly directed to Tarja, and I confess I got so disappointed when Tarja left that I didn't do any research about the reasons for it. Thanks to this video (I'm about to watch part 2 at this very moment), I could have a glimpse of everything surrounding it, and that pisses me a lot! Anyways, great video, great analysis! Btw. U touched on it for a second but I think it’s a super interesting story. The Friend he went went on a hiking trip with is the lead singer of SONOTA ARTICA. Another metal band from Finland. That hiking trip is credited with saving Both men’s passion for making music.

Tarja and marco keep in touch and so do her and floor!! And from what it sounds like she talks with toumas on the phone sometimes not all the time rarely but they talk on the phone but she video chats with marco and floor almost all the time now deffinetly with floor

Hey, just found out your two Tarja/Toumas lyrics analysis, as an old NW fan it's nice way to spend an hour with theories I also had!!! Just one thing, I don't know why you said that they didn't know each other much during the first album, sure they weren't besties but Tarja and Tuomas were in the same school since they were 11/12 years old, they used to talk about it in early NW interviews (some of them are on youtube). Emppu was also from the same small town, Kitee, and even if they already knew each other, he became friend with Tuomas when they went to university/conservatory (where Tarja also studied). Also, Tarja started taking piano lessons at 6yo from Kirsti Nortia-Holopainen, Tuomas' mother, so even if they didn't really knew each other well until their early teens, it's safe to say that they most likely knew of each other and probably met here and there since they were literally tiny kids. Also since she was 3yo Tarja sang in the church chorus (she sang a solo song for the first time at 6yo) and I remember a really, really old Finnish interview of Emppu saying that Tarja was known in Kitee as the kid that sang and that he has vague memories of her at church... so I don't know, given that Kitee wasn't that big and Tuomas was also raised christian, maybe that's also another place where Tuomas remembers Tarja from. Anyway, great videos!! PS : fun fact : Marcelo said that he sang Come Cover Me at their wedding, which is sort of bizarre.

Enough is the most obvious song dedicated to Tomas. What impressed me in this song is the rage vibe in Tarja’s voice which we are not used to, but she released all frustration she had. Also the line ‘ had enough symphonies of sorrow ‘ captured my attention as it gave me a hint she hadn’t enjoyed singing all those ‘she doesn’t love me’ songs.

About slaying a dreamer, I red once Tomas interview about this song and according to him it was dedicated to some people who have wrote bad about him, his songs and Nightwish and it hit him hard. It was the time when he was thinking to end Nightwish, but eventually he changed his mind.

Well... After breaking up with Nightwish, Tarja does not stop developing her independent career, free, her own, unique... I adore Tarja, I still listen to her, Nightwish weakly or not at all (except the old one, with Tarja). This analysis is a bit childish. I doubt she had such a need to "answer" Tuomas. Why would she, when she could finally breathe? Personally, I think that the old Nightwish had two irreconcilable frontmen (Tuomas and Tarja), that together, including the other members of the band, they created magic forever until 2005. Now they live their own different lives.

Wishmaster used to be my favorite NW album, but tbh Oceanborn is my favorite now. The songs are just so interesting

I am a new member of the Nightwish army and am hoovering up everything Nightwish and Floor Jansen related.....Yes, I am an addict. Having been a lifelong Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) fan I am loving the strings on this, something that E.L.O. are synonymous for going right back to the early 1970s. This is raw and I love it. Also 16:17....I'mma be controversial and say that the lyric is actually "beast(s?) of prey a breath away" and somehow it ended up being inaccurately transcribed as "be so brave and weep me away"? When I listen to the song I just don't hear it that way but maybe it's me? I have seen it both ways. Anyway, if I'm right, it may be a reference to Tuomas always referring to himself as the "beast" in early NW songs 🤔

8:50..."angel in the snow" is a Sacrament of Wilderness callback, maybe? If it is it lends even more credence that she's talking about Tuomas, imo! 🤔

Tarja said in her book that the song 500 letters is about a stalker. I haven't read the book myself, but she talked about it in an interview. :)

Oh, a reverse revenge! Well, it's not ALL bad blood. From either side. A lot more material than I thought. I haven't checked out the lyrics of all of her rock albums' songs, but a few were familiar. I think, even if there's someone else credited for writing, the content might still well come from Tarja. Because many times these people she co-operated in several songs in the album, and they knew what she was after. "Until My Last Breath" in my opinion is a reply to "Cadence of Her Last Breath". In the Nightwish song Tuomas hopes her last breath will be for him, and in Tarja's song the reply is: no it won't.

Many don't know this fact about Tuomas and TARJA, but they actually were dating in HIGHSCHOOL, but it did NOT LAST that long. They actually, broke up in good standing, and remained good friends. But all this was before Nightwish even became a band. And Tuomas went to look for TARJA to sing in his band he was trying to get started. Tuomas was surprised years later, when he had not seen her for awhile.

"enough" is another Tarja song that is clearly dedicated to Nightwish. in the live version of her you can feel her disappointment, her sadness, her anger... i think it's the answer to master passion creed. and in the opposite way when she sings "diva" you can feel that she is over that and also sings with a lot of passion.

What has this to do with Tuomas and Nightwish.....Tarja is the past and we all know the story. At the moment Floor is almost 10 years a member of Nightwish and it worked out very well.
