Canyon strive On - Underdog Video review
Decided to do a review on my new ride Canyon's Strive On Underdog . I already own a Canyon Strive (Acoustic ) So I had some experience with Canyon's , Which has been all good 👍 . I was considering the Strive On ltd but $3000 is quite a bit more $$$ than the Underdog . So I thought if I needed I could make some changes and still save a few Bucks with the Underdog . Well after a few rides I got to say I am really impressed with the Strive On Underdog . This Bike handles like a lighter bike, More playful bike. I have a Niner Rip E9 which I really like too , but that bike is Velcroed to the ground , which when going thru the rock gardens in So Utah isn't a bad thing. The Canyon feels more nim...

Rixxu Sport Series Full Size Truck Seat Covers - 2020 Ford f-150-A short review
I too had high hopes for this brand. After buying a pair for my pedal bike and initially loving the grip, I purchased 4 for my Ebike. All 4 on the Ebike have failed by losing side lugs and one on my pedal bike has suffered the same fate. All have failed between 200 and 400 miles. To their credit the company has replaced all for of the e-bike tires, but sadly I've had my pedal bike tires too long. I'm going back to name brands. You truly do get what you pay for.
I ordered my first PANGO kit, and can't wait! I'm getting a burl maple top, your video helps a lot. Thanks!
Have fun with your build , what color are you going for ?
@@johnvanmtb8775 I'm thinking a lemon yellow/amber top, and paint the sides, back and neck the Fender Sand color, with white binding and gold hardware, should look cool. It's the PHB-740 kit, an ES-335 version of the Gibson "Johnny A" guitar, kind of unique. Wondering if I should fill holes in the burl top with Grain filler before applying the stain, I'll get some scrap wood and experiment first.
It would've been nice if you listed where you ordered your extra parts from. Good job!
I like everything except for your cowbell. Nice review 😊
I"ll get a bigger one :)
How did you make the frame protector tape?
I used green painters tape to make patterns
I need a Cow bell too .
Wow . Nice build 💯. I like the hard tail bridge you used .
Thanks
A Telie with two humbuckers? What sense does that make?
Do you know if the motors are interchangable?
Do you mean CX and a CX race ? From what I heard they just made the CX rave lighter buy using different material for the cases . So really not sure
@@johnvanmtb8775 I meant like different generations and models
Thanks for the heads up with loose screws. You should do more of these videos. Thanks
How did you stain the fretboard and not get any on the steel frets? Awesome build btw
It doesn't really stain the frets plus I always polish the frets once I am done with a dremel with a small steel brush , and I use a fretboard protector while polishing the frets - Good luck with your build
thats not really anything close to an endure neck, thats a regular neck that was chamfered on either side. The base model strandbergs are $999, I'm sure a used one can be found for less, buy that instead. Doesnt really make sense to buy a $300 counterfeit (poorly counterfeited) guitar to try it out, at least if you dont like the actual thing you can sell it and get most if not all of your money back.
Do you mind sharing the scale length of the guitar? Seems a little longer than most strandbergs
27" on the 6th string and 25.5" on the 1st
Good looking guitar. I like the pick guard. Was it plate aluminum you cut out on a bandsaw or with a jig saw?
I got a brushed alum tele pick guard off amazon and just trimmed it up with a jig saw
😍😍😍
Howdy. I just picked one of these up but the bridge isn’t what came with it. Any idea what the width is? I’m gonna pick up a Wilkinson. 52.5, 54? I suck at precision measuring.
you got to find one with the correct stud placement if that wat your going for. I used a 54mm bridge
Does the bridge you put on require any modification since it is designed for string through bodies? I bought the guitar with the same idea.
I just ran the strings up thru the bridge and they stop on the backside of the bridge . You got me thinking , you could probably add a block to the bridge :) So far so good. Good luck
Just dry assembled one last night and the action was so low the strings were on the fret at the end of the neck. Beautiful kit but it’s gonna need some work. Neck and body are otherwise fantastic.
I actually removed about a 1/16" off the back of the neck . ended up about .275" off the body .Keep in mind I did change the bridge . Good luck
Just got one myself for the same reason. Combining Tele w/Humbuckers
Have fun with your build
My AliExpress guitar was junk. So I took that pos and taught myself to refret a guitar. Would have cost the price of the guitar to ship it back. I do recommend the strandberg I love mine.
I was worried about buying off Ali express too , I guess I got lucky this time
@@johnvanmtb8775 maybe or maybe I just got unlucky. Either way my anger over that guitar, I turned into a skill I can use. Some tools were a bit pricey because I was using stainless steel frets and it was tough but I stuck with it. Watched hundreds of videos. A lot of work but it was fun learning and now I don't have to pay someone else to do it for me.
@@michaelsmith9544 👍Lemons into lemonade . Its always a positive to learn a new skill .Haven't done a refret yet, not sure I want to :) I started to build some guitar kits to learn some new skills , every build teaches you something new and like you mentioned , you can work on your own guitars now 👍
I wonder if anyone has any links for similar kit in EU (I found only suspicious links with no locations or very expensive too, after a decent search time). Or for a bass version. Would love to make a budget version guitar. I know if the money is not a problem, getting the kit from anywhere is not a problem, but hobby money has limits sometimes :)
I designed this model for Pango as My Dream Guitar! EVH-01! Your Welcome! Lol!!!!! Nice work btw! Almost how I envisioned 👍
Great video. Do you think the cavity would fit a pair of active mount pickups like fishman? I noticed the cavity seems rounded on the edges. Thanks for your input in advance and thanks for posting this.
Not sure on that as the pick-ups (fanned fret style) have a offset which standard pick ups do not have . You can probably ask them to route for a standard pick-up . They were pretty good on getting back to me on any questions I had - Good luck
Very cool. I've played only headless guitars on stage since 1982.
Looking at one of the T style kits right now. Can't beat it for $85 bucks.
Cant beat the price 👍
Still happy with it? :)
The tire sticks really good but like I mentioned above I can feel the sidewall flex . but its not losing its grip on the fast sections . At 1st I kept checking the rear of my bike to see if something was loose. Would I buy this one again - no . But I would try the DH casing which should cure this issue. Still wearing very good too. Hope this helps
Difference I noticed with the Chinese one's. They don't sound great unplugged. My 335 grote I said goodbye.
I ordered a jaguar style kit, customized the inlay and neck- so it'll still take a while to build, what was the radius of your fingerboard when it arrived?
at the 21st fret its 17
@@johnvanmtb8775 that's really flat yo how does it feel in the hand
I like flatter fret boards , kinda like a Jackson neck@@scottfrazier6296

Thank you
thanks a lot for the review! guitar looks very cool. you did a nice job on the setup
thanks 👍
In every single video I’ve seen people say they’re ok for the money but everybody online that say they’re unplayable, why you think is that? I wanna buy one
Some people need a name brand guitar . Some of the guitars I like best are no names:) Everyone has a preference on what they like or don't like. The good thing is this wasn't a very expensive experiment for me, and turned out good. Keep in mind this was only one guitar from this manufacturer , Hopefully their QC is good on all 🤞. Good luck
Amazon Guitars (JET, Leo Jaymz, EART, Firefly, etc.) are better quality guitars. When you buy an Ali custom you are paying for the custom work but don't buy one unless you intend to work on the guitar yourself or pay a Luthier however not all Luthiers like working on these guitars which all come from the same Factory in China not owned by Sammick or Cort with a high employee turnover rate and if there is a problem with the "company" they just create a new Ali account but the Factory stays the same so no accountability whatsoever.
It’s not an Endure neck unless you bought it from Strandberg. It’s a knockoff of an Endure neck. Honestly is important.
Thats why I posted Endure style neck in the title . I even spelled endure with a E at the end , Strandberg spells it EndurNeck. Not trying to trick anyone, just some info on what's out there
Bro is angry
RUclipsr made it clear from the beginning that this isn’t a Strandberg. So i dont think honesty is the issue here.

Its on adjustable posts

That came out beautifully, really like the color choice, nice job!!

To be fair, this is a better front tire. It's very similar to the assegai, and most people run that in the front. It would behave very different in the front. Also I ran maxus dissectors in the rear, and it was completely spent in 200 MI. So the wear isn't bad here.
Glad they work for you 👍. I have been riding and or racing MTB's for a long time and never seen this kind of initial wear before . I thought about trying another one in case I got a bad batch , but I have not yet.
@@johnvanmtb8775 I have not tried them, just making an observation that they would probably work better in the front. And viewers would probably interested in what you think up front.
@@byronswogger I might have to try that . 👍
@@johnvanmtb8775 and from what I hear the gravity casing with the super soft compound is much better.
Hi. Would you mind copy and pasting the link up again. I can’t get it to work.

I guess if you order their off-the-shelf kits, you get something decent. But if you make a custom request, you get screwed like I did. I have a couple of vids about my experience with their customer service.
Looks (and sounds) great! What bridge and speed knobs did you buy, and where did you get them?
TY- I had to go back to the original bridge as The one I was using was a little tall for proper set up . The stock one worked out fine . The knobs came with the guitar kit
is the neck supposed to just sink in? on my kit i feel i need to " tap" it in place.... dont want to do anything like that until i confirm. from videos i've seen they seem to just drop in, maybe i need to sand mine a bit? any suggestions. thx
I just tilted the neck (tuner end) up a bit and it dropped in for a tight fit - good luck

How is the fretwork?
My kit was fine. I did a little polish job , no high frets or sprout
I'm having an issue with Pango at the moment. I placed a custom order on Jan. 27, 2023 and was told it would take about 45 days. I waited 60 before asking for an update. I was told they just came back from their holiday and the builds are a little slower than usual, and asked me to please wait a little longer. So I waited another 3 weeks before asking for an update. I am told "Your kit is almost done." 2 weeks later I ask for an update and again "It is almost ready. We need another 5-7 days." I give them 11 days before asking for another update. No response. A few days later I ask again. Again, no reply. So I tell them if they do not answer, I will start a refund claim with PayPal. No answer. So I start the claim process and THEN they contact me asking why I am doing this. By the way, back when I was asking for updates, they told me if I can't wait, I can ask for a refund and they will give it to me. Anyway, I explain to them that they are always telling me it is "almost done" and keep asking me to wait. I only have 180 days from the time of ordering, to qualify for a refund thru PayPal, and those 180 days are almost up. I feel they are stalling so that time runs out and I can't get my money back. So I said I would mention their business practices on my RUclips channel. They replied with "We see what kind of person you are. Send us the video link. And we will tell the world about you." They want the link so they can get my channel name. Even if I had more than the piddly little 90 subscribers, I highly doubt they could discredit me and hurt my channel in any way. It was pretty funny that they used that as a threat. So they told me a few times to cancel the claim ASAP or else they would never do business with me again. As if I planned on using them again. Again I told them time is running out and I want to make sure I can get my money back. Suddenly the guitar is ready. They sent me pictures and they did not drill the mounting holes for the Floyd Rose studs, and they did not paint it. Again they said "Cancel the claim ASAP or we will send the guitar directly." I guess "directly" means unpainted because they said it would take another 7 days for paint. I feel they are still trying to stall for time. I said I will not cancel, and if they send the guitar unpainted, then they are not fulfilling my request on the custom kit. I paid extra for the Floyd Rose rout and a paint job. If they send it unpainted, I should be entitled to some sort of refund. Anyway, sorry for ranting. lol They sent me a UPS tracking number which doesn't yet show any info. So I have no idea if the guitar is actually in transit or not. If they did send it, I will do a review on it (I wonder if they'll honor their $15 refund for making a RUclips video on the purchase). I just find it to be poor business practice to offer a refund, and then when I ask for one, they don't respond, causing me to file a claim with PayPal, and then get an attitude with me for doing so. I just don't trust them. How can you? When they don't even use their real names. I was dealing with "Ann" and then got an update from "Alice". I've contacted other Chinese manufacturers about having a custom build, and have dealt with "Amanda", "Ashley", "Becky", "Mary" and "Tiffany". So I guess every Chinese guitar company is run by a woman and none of them have traditional Chinese names. Anyway, in case you were wondering what I ordered, it was the Steinberger headless kit PWT-716, but with a rout for a Floyd Rose (I'll have to get a neck with a headstock) and to have it painted white since I live in a condo and have nowhere to paint it. I told them I didn't even want the pickups or electronics. Just the body, neck (I might be able to use that on a guitar I got from DHGate), the cavity cover and the neck mounting screws. So I saved them some money. They can use that stuff on another kit.
Well that sucks , I have had good luck with 2 kits I have purchased, communications and the product . As for the tracking - unless you get the faster shipping option you wont be able to track it till it gets past customs here in the states. Hopefully it turns out alright in the end for you. Maybe they will see your post here and get back to you 🤞🤞
@@johnvanmtb8775 They screwed me over. They sent it unpainted and didn't drill the holes for the bridge posts. They said they would reimburse me for the work that wasn't performed, yet they sent nothing and have stopped responding to my emails. I uploaded a short video today of what they sent me.
Thanks for the info! I _definitely_ will avoid them. Basically everything they did is a classic red flag 🚩
