Ok, let me see if I got this right. I have to put every single source ( sound ) around -18db, but then make a rough mix that goes to about -12db using a gain plugin and then make my final mix without touching a fader and if so make very little adjustments using the faders?

I have recently noticed when I upload a beat with the stems that I have purchased and it goes haywire. None of the tracks seem in place. the beat sounds screwed almost. It has only happened since the update. Have you noticed this? What can I do?

Is it necessary to gain stage just mixing a beat for presentation/shopping, and is it necessary to gain stage if most if not all of your sound sources is coming from a digital source?

Love the video. However I wouldn’t advise new artists to remove a majority of the mids and boost sibilance with the eq as the first thing you do then boosting further, then correcting. Most aren’t as talented as you/artist on the video, hence there will be a need to tame everything before boosting.

Thanks for making downloadable plans. I conceived of this in my head, bought the materials (except want them for the ceiling), but then began to get confused re construction - so perfect to open up the first video that answered almost all my questions (ceiling hanging still an issue). One suggestion about something you touch on all too briefly: people need to remember they're working with fiberglass, and to not use wide-weave cotton canvas. Those fiberglass fibers are practically microscopic and get into fabric and into the air, so wear a good mask while working with the Rockwool, and buy a densely-woven, fireproof poly duck - waterproof outdoor variety is good.

Do you do gain staging before bouncing to audio? As in gain staging software instruments while in MIDI. I find I need to balance each instrument track while still composing with their individual EQ, fx etc (before bouncing anything). Just wondering if the -14dB applies then as well?

When you say at 3:30 that the plug-ins "were designed to perform their best with a distinct gain or input signal going into them." You're talking about a specific gain level, right? A specific level at which we want to set our gain so that the plug-in processes the signal the best that it can.

Any thoughts about audacity?
