So glad I accidently found your channel, I love the way you just get straight to point. I've learned so much from your videos.
Same here, so happy one of his videos was recommended!
Good timing for this to pop up, I’m 2 minutes in but everything up to this point is so accurate. Even if it’s things you already know, it’s good to be reminded. Some of these tips are things I’ve forgotten over the years.
I mean, these are great tips, but I feel like I'm missing your lead vocal tone, this sounds great for backing vocals the way you've mixed them. I think you'll need a separate 'eating the mike' version for lead vocals will lots more compression, definitely de-essing, probably some excitement, and less low end cut. If I sound like I'm complaining then sorry! I have the same problem with getting lead vocals myself. We'll get there eventually
Noted! Appreciate the comment. Keep fighting the good fight.
Good video and great style of teaching. Your vocals sound cool!
Glad you liked them!
Good work
omg the intro described me
Loving these videos Mattie! What software do you use to record yourself and the DAW at the same time? Video is so crisp.
Thanks! I use OBS!
Very interesting and very good advice. I spent much too much money on 3rd party plugins which I shouldn‘t have done! A few very good ones would have been enough/! Much more important what you say here. This would really improve my approach towards recording better vocals although I‘m not a good singer. Applying your tips can even make a „not good“ voice more acceptable… . Thanx a lot! But what do with the many expensive plugins. They are pieces of „gear“ you can‘t sell anymore … I‘ve got the Waves Horizon bundle which I use only few plugins of, etc., etc., etc., ….
Hi Mattie. Appreciate the video and your channel. I was unable to download the free presets. Could you help?
Great video. I followed the steps you laid out here. I still need your help. I’m working on my first cover song. I recorded lead vocals a week ago (Vox A). First verse needed a little improvement so I re-recorded it today (VoxB). Im using Izotope Music Production Suite Pro plugins. They are working well. Problem: Vox A and Vox B have different tonal and timbre qualities, so the plugins are creating different processing chains (very similar but with differences). When playing the 2 vocal recordings in the mix you can hear a slight difference. I’ve tried setting the same plugins/ presets in the same order on both tracks. That has brought the 2 recordings very close but not 100%. Any tips, tricks or vocal production suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Cheers!!
Good wok
