Although the “Here Gen. Reynolds Fell” marker is simple in design, its importance is legendary. It honors the death of General John. F. Reynolds esteemed Corps and Wing Commander. We may never know exactly where he was when struck on the morning of July 1, 1863, however this marker does tell us of his self-sacrifice and dedication to duty. Thanks for watching.

John F. Reynolds Statue "Then & Now" in the Gettysburg National Cemetery

The first bronze portrait statue placed at Gettysburg was of General John F. Reynolds located in the Soldiers Cemetery. This very detailed bronze statue of Reynolds was cast using Civil War bronze cannon. Being the first, many images were taken of this remarkable statue and today we can stand where those images were captured. Thanks for watching.

    I thought this looked similar in detail to the Irish Brigade monument at the Sunken Road at Antietam. I checked; it is the same sculptor!

      Indeed you are correct, Ron Tunison did both. He was one of the best.

      @@timfulmergettysburg-guide I took multiple photos of the one at Antietam. Close up of features, interaction of the figures. Very intriguing. I didn't see the Gettysburg one but then again there are SO MANY monuments to see.

      @@janem9408 There are 1300 monuments and markers at Gettysburg. Tuff to see them all. I enjoy the detail and the art work as well as the stories they may tell.. Tunison was a great person. I had the opportunity to meet him and correspond with Ron. A great artist and a great person.
