  • The monument of the 4th New York Independent Artillery Battery was dedicated July 2, 1888. The bronze statue of an artilleryman atop the monument is located along Sickle’s Avenue near the Devil’s Den. This Battery, commanded during the battle by Captain James Smith, would lose three of its six guns. The recent renovation of the Devil’s Den area has improved the area where this monument stands. There are also four 10-pounder Parrott rifled cannon flanking the memorial. This video will show some new views of the monument but also some interesting facts about the cannon. Thanks for watching.
