Gettysburg Witness Trees? Visitors often ask if there are any trees on the battlefield that were here at the time of the battle. I often mention a few well-known examples, however Peter Lukacs a volunteer at Gettysburg National Military Park has gone above and beyond in answering this question. Peter has recently introduced his website “Gettysburg Witness Trees.” This website takes you to any area of the battlefield and presents the viewer with detailed locations and photographs of these historic trees. Using maps of each area he indicates and provides photographic evidence for which trees he believes were present during the battle.
