From #menopause Myths to Empowerment: Alloy Co-Founder's Mission - #youarenotbroken
Menopause July 2022. Diagnosed with ALS IN Jan 2023 (misdiagnosed by VA). But my symptoms were crazy debilitating. Started HRT sept 2024. LDL cholesterol was getting higher since 2023. 4 months on HRT LDL is lowering. I have been an athlete and eating clean my whole life and then my cholesterol goes up during menopause and now going down. Not to mention my BP went from normal to HIGH 190/100. Got diagnosed with fibromuscular dysplasia inside renal arteries causing BP Escalation. I’m getting my life back, my muscles, my energy and my brain and may have an incredible story for you. Give me a year on HRT And I’ll let you know. LOVE YOUR MISSION!!
Sadly not shocked but just saw a Mother and Baby 'product', a wine glass with Mum written on it and a matching baby sized wine glass that has a sippy cup top on it with baby written on it....oh my fucking word. KEEP IT UP LADIES 🙏
oh god no! It is so normalized! and thank you!
I would like to be on vaginal estrogen, as I have lichen schlerosis and atrophy, but I'm scared because the last time I tried it, I used it a few months and started leaking out of my left breast. I was told that it doesn't go through you systemically, but that's awfully strange coincidence. My duct is enlarged. 🥹
Curious if vaginal estrogen helps decrease yeast infections, can it also help decrease reoccurrence of BV due to pH imbalance? Thank you for all this wonderful info, I'm using it in my clinical practice!
We need more physicians like these two women. Instead, we run into roadblocks with the standard of care and lack of pertinent continuing education such as how to prescribe vaginal estrogen.
Thank you!
So so motivating to make healthy lifestyle choices a priority! Dr Casperson, because of doctors like you I also quit drinking in my perimenopausal journey (had a very moderate consumption of alc)... prior, my LDL had been keeping creeping up and now first time, it was back in a healthy range. No statins for me thanks to HRT and TRT. THANK YOU so much for the good life lessons and valuable advice and saying it clearly so that everyone can understand. Best wishes from Germany - from your Bavarian fan and friend💪♀️💕🇩🇪😃🤭
Yeah! Huge for you! I have a few Bavarian friends now!!!
One of the best interviews !! 😮
Thank you!
What did she say at the 28 min mark to rub in hair?
Yes, my CRP levels have improved since starting HRT , removing all alcohol and dialing in my nutrition!!
wonderful!
So insightful! This should be taught in High School!
right!
Love what she had to say and all of the topics covered are so important. Hopefully next time she does a podcast she can learn not to yell into the microphone 😅 I know she was excited but it was a little painful to listen to. But I still appreciated the conversation ❤
what about the gel
How do we find a Dr that specializes in hormones. 65 year old in New York
Check out menopause.org or the online hormone companies
Dr. Casperson, this was a timely discussion. I just learned a friend of mine has just died of liver failure. We had drifted apart and now I see why … she became an alcoholic! She was very sick the past few years. She was only 61. She had three children and three grandchildren and a loving husband and sister, mother. I woke up thinking of her and I looked at my husband and said to him, “I wonder if menopause played a role in her drinking?” Your episode popped up this morning. I think more mdiscussion needs to be had on the topic of menopause and addictions. Thank you.
I am so sorry!
Ok Dr. Casperson. This may be long but -- I found your channel a few months ago. And I also watch you on instagram. I love your videos ! I first started watching because of bladder problems. ( Still have ). I have to find a better doc. Anyway, I love that you are doing ALL women’s health. Meaning our whole bodies. Inside and out. Actually I was looking at your beautiful face and skin. I had quit watching so many other doctors. It wasn’t just what they said, it was how they looked. And IDon’ t mean beautiful or handsome. Just that healthy look. I also love that you have other doctors on and have a real conversation. Not just you over talking them. To many of the other doctors do this. And that gorgeous skin of yours-- we need to know what you do !😊 I am so glad I found you. I feel so much more positive than I did before. Thank You !
Thanks! No alcohol and I use estriol on my face!
At age 48 lost both parents back to back and started drinking wine to cope with the stress and depression. Oh here’s a glass while making dinner no big deal. Turned into 3/4 glasses which is a bottle! I left one swallow on the bottle so I “didn’t actually drink the whole bottle” I gained so much weight, horrible inflammation, my bedtime was a nightmare. Heart rate 120 palpitations, migraines, anxiety and depression for days after. I never had an issue with alcohol before. It hit me, this is perimenopause and my liver is angry with me! I quit drinking and have found so many issues have started to subside. We live in a culture where it’s perfectly acceptable to have a drink, alcohol is everywhere. It’s a hard concept for some but I have decided it’s just not good for me anymore. My mental health is more important to me.
crazy how easy it is to get into a habit! Proud of you!
@@cindywhittaker3003 Many many other people do the same Cindy. Most of us face some kind of true hardship in life and in my case I turned to chocolate, big time! My point being that I was lucky that that was my thing, had it been alcohol I'm really not confident that I would be one of the few who are able to achieve what you have achieved, which is impressive 💪💪💪. I'm just grateful for my lucky miss but my story could easily have been your story but without the happy ending. Great to hear it, it will encourage others xxx
Excellent! Very interesting hearing about strengthening the head and neck area. Big thank you - love your channel!
Thank you!
Awesome discussion. Geeking out on pathology of the “under the hood” is pretty cool.
Thank you!
Wow, “your brain is getting smaller with alcohol”. That scares me enough right there! Why do ppl feel the need to keep poisoning their brains?? I have loads of fun without alcohol and I feel great the next morning. It’s so heartbreaking. Thank you for bringing this issue forefront.
Totally agree!!
I wish gyns would listen when a patient says a synthetic progestin ie Agystin is causing them all these new symptoms. I didn't do well on a progestin when I took it as birth control. Now, why would you put me on it and not listen when I'm getting all these new side effects
IF YOU HAVE MELASMA don't even think about it! I made great progress using Triluma for the 1st time prescribed by my derm, but then got STUPID listening to this video and others promoting this and decided to try the Estradiol 0.01%. BIG MISTAKE! It erased years worth of improvement to my hyperpigmentation. My melasma is at its worst! I'm starting all over again now! STAY AWAY FROM ESTROGEN CREAM if you have hyperpigmentation!!!
Awesome content!
I am soooo grateful you brought this conversation to the show!! I landed in the hospital for 12 days w heart issues (low pulse, bp and syncope) which I’ve had my whole life but is sooo much worse and more frequent now (I’m 53 and getting closer to that year mark for menopause every week) and ultimately the doctors sent me home (with a loop recorder) as they didn’t know what to do w me. On one hand, I deeply appreciate them not putting a defib in me without knowing for sure but boy do I wish hormones came up as a topic (I’m on HRT but do I need testosterone too? Different dosing of my estrogen/progesterone cocktail)? Your convo armed me with some good talking points for my next apt. Thank you 🙏🏽 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Question: if want to donate $$ to more female heart research, which orgs do you recommend?
Just to be clear, Dr. Kelly : the women in the study who were followed afterwards, actually stayed on the oral estrogen and synthetic progestin even after the negative ( at the time) initial WHI findings??
Looks like you can NOT get DHEA in 🇦🇺
What about the terrible side effects of bisphosphonates??? What is the alternative? I’m on estrogen patch 0.25
In most of the research and scientific debate around HRT women's quality of life is seldom mentioned as an outcome. A lot of clinicians have an opinion about risks vs benefits, forgetting that whilst the risks are fairly well defined, only the user can quantify the benefits to her as an individual.
Omg!! I’m an American living in Australia! I’m coming 🎉🎉🎉 I share your info w all my clients- yahoooo!!
❤
Thanks!
Thanks!
Great to know, thank you for ALL you awesome information - but what percent please
I learned A LOT!!!!!! Fascinating. Warm regards Jennie
Thanks!
Thank you SO MUCH for having this conversation 🙏🏽 I’m sending it to so many clients (I’m a life coach for midlife moms- they neeeeeed this! (As do their moms!)
amazing!
I was diagnosed with IC when I was about 25. Even had a cystoscopy. I had heparin bladder infusions and only got worse. My urologist wouldn't listen to me until one day I lost it at his office. Got a new urologist and he told me I didn't have IC. Thankfully I've been fine ever since. It was literally just some infection that took a good long while to get better. It was such a difficult period of my life. All the ER visits, catheter, self catheter ect .. I'm so glad I'm not dealing with that anymore.
So glad you are feeling better!
pumpkin seed oil daily… i had read it blocks dht and gave it a shot made a huge difference for me
During perimenopause, I sought out a NAMS and A4M fellowship trained MD. I had had to use prednisone multiple times in the past. She said my bloodwork seemed to indicate PCOS. My Fasting Insulin blood test was also sky high. She put me on Rx metformin daily. She said it can be used to _prevent people from developing diabetes_. Yet when I spoke with my OB/GYN and family doctor, they really had no idea about the use of Metformin. So frustrating. Imagine the massive cost savings and suffering prevention if we prevented high-risk female patients from developing Diabetes. 😮 How do so few HC practitioners know this information?
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I pay 24$ a tube, CVS in Michigan. No insurance ❤
How/who/ what kind of doctors do i search for that will do all this testing and follow through like you ladies?? Whi does dexa scans and vo2 max, etc
Just came home from my first appointment with my menopause specialist. She recommended Imvexxy for me... and then recommended your podcast. :) I plan to be around here checking things out once in a while! I love that I'm not broken. I am getting older, but I am not ready to just accept every change to my body and my well-being. Thankful for the new science in this field! Thank you for sharing!
Wonderful!
I appreciate how direct and thorough you are. You aren’t hesitant to probe into all the major concerns. Thank you for this interview!
Thank you!
Question: So start Menoxidyl and Spironolactone together. Can you stop Menoxidyl after you recover hair and stay on Spironolactone to preserve, or do you stay on both forever? Does Dr. Ibraham, do online consultations? Thanks!
You're awesome, thank you for your life saving work...
Thank you!
Dr. Casperson, I've been taking 200mg of progesterone for about 1.5 yrs. Yesterday I saw a new menopause provider and she asked me why I was taking 200mg and that I should be taking 100mg. What I was told is that progesterone works well for sleep and that it doesn't hurt to take 200mg. What do you recommend?
I want you as my friend ha-ha. You are super smart, funny, and talk about taboos, makes us in ease about issues…Thank you for all your educations! Question: I am taking all, Estrogen gel, 0.75 Progesterone 200mg. and Testosterone. Can I also take DHEA 10mg or the prescription stuff is enough alone? I am 58 and have been on HRT for a year now.
What helps with teeth and gum issues? I noticed my vision getting bad too. I'm on hrt. I'm 42
